In previous generations I at least never got a memory card/stick/whatever right away and always started from the beginning. Was never a big deal for me, but it made those beginning levels and the music stick more.

When I first loaded up Warhawk heard this on the title screen, fell in love instantly. I knew I made the perfect choice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMOHB5AUygI The loading screen for Persona 3. Rarely has a song hit me so hard. I knew I was in for an amazing game. |

What. The. Fuck.
War has changed... For a solid year, I thought all games opened like this... then I put in an other game and found out they didn't :_( God Damn! If classic Rare were still together and making games of this caliber, there'd be no need for Halo, CoD, or any close-quarters multiplayer shooters. Very well executed and made both the game's intro and the song so much more important, in my opinion.
Not the first level per-se but I consider it to perfectly sync with getting pumped to play the game. This game's soundtrack plain rocks That's all I can think of, atm. :::Edit:::: The Voodoo Shop ;)

The correct answer is Sonic CD.
![]() Not only is Palmtree Panic (Present) an already iconic song, but it also has a Bad Future, Past, and Good Future version which all sound incredible. The US version for its present version is still pretty good too. Present Bad Future Good Future Past Present (US Version) It's yet to be topped, IMO. |

More truth. I really wish Enix would make another Actraiser title or even just remake the game/something similar to it. Call in Yuzo for the soundtrack again too. Gotta represent. Strania - Stage 1 Omega Five - The Glacial Fortress Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Hunting Path Hard Corps Uprising - Desert Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - Zu Ambush Kirby: Return to Dreamland - Cookie Country Mighty Switch Force - Caught Red Handed Sonic Colors - Tropical Resort Act 1 Sonic Unleashed - Windmill Isle Day |

After the average intro with forced drama and no battle music, we get this gem:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZsR6jKT8bk It felt like good old times. |

A couple of pages in and no Journey to Silius?
Shame on you! Though, there really are some awesome tracks in this thread, some I haven't heard before, and some might be on par with JtS but nostalgia usually adds to the awesomeness. |

Daytona wins before it even gets to the first level!
My other picks would be Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV and Contra 3 |

Plus, this won't win any 'best award' (the game itself is pretty obscure) but I always loved the way Gynoug started... |

yes. slow start, really awesome as you progress through the level, then calms down again. A great 'first level song.' more than just a great song. not initially overbearing, yet atmospheric and moody.

Many of my favourites have already been covered, so I'll not mention them again.
But this was pretty damn jaw dropping back in 2001... Sonic Adventure 2 - City Escape |

I basically read the thread title as "Castlevania and Sonic music thread" since those series always hit the mark for the opening stage. Now to try and pick a Castlevania track that hasn't been used so far....
I don't think Invitation of a crazed moon has been mentioned yet. As for Sonic, Azure Blue World from Sonic Adventure. Not sure if you'd consider it the first level since it's more of a training area but Spiral Mountain from Banjo Kazooie. |
