Yes. As you reach specific numbers of icons on the menu, the total number of spaces will increase. I don't know the limits, or specific numbers, but it happens.
Neat, I didn't know the SD card had an impact. If you have a larger card, does it give you more spaces? |

It won't add more slots just for the heck of it. You still have to have X number of icons to reach a new limit. |

I kind of hope the colour of the folder can be changed. They've only shown blue so far. |

Upon reaching 100 icons, the menu expands from 120 to 180. I don't remember what the lower milestones are, but I'm thinking it goes from 60 to 120 when you reach 50 or something. |

Wii Folder must be flipping out at this news.
Slowly but surely Nintendo is modernizing their online protocols. I am fairly optimistic about everything they've implemented in the eShop, and more, being available on Wii U within launch window. Patching games is a must for HD gaming. |

They can be saved to the SD card for storage purposes and copied back and forth, but they can't be launched from the SD card, presumably for security and anti-piracy reasons. So if you have more DSiWare than can fit on your internal memory, you have to keep some on SD and when you want to use those you have to copy one from internal meory to SD, delete it from internal memory, then copy the one you want to play from SD to internal memory.

I always assumed it was because the DSi games only ran off of internal memory on the DSi and thus weren't optimized to run from an SD card.

Yep. It has probably sat there for a couple of days once or twice. I think it just stops charging when full and does its standby things (SpotPass etc.) with power from the power supply, so it doesn't wastefully discharge while it's on the cradle either.

Another option would be to allow DSiWare games to be moved to/from the SD card directly in the menu. Now that the system can support folders, a differently colored folder could be used to list "archived" DSiWare titles and management could be done by simply moving them from/to it. |

Speaking of file management directly from the home screen, Nintendo needs to add a way to delete apps without digging into the settings menu.
In fact it would be stupidly simple to pull off if you think about it. Notice how the bottom task bar disappears when you've gripped an icon? Nintendo could just make a drop bin pop up there instead. As for the built in, non deletable apps, the bin could simply not appear at all when gripping them. There we go Nintendo, the perfect solution. Take it, it's yours. |
