Updated to 9.2.1.17 yesterday and i think my random resets have gotten worse, 3 in the past 12 hours compared to maybe once a day before the update.

Really my only gripe with ics, everything else is super impressive

No issues here. Most likely it's a particular hardware revision having the problems with ICS.

How many revisions has this thing had?

After the second ICS update, it would reboot then freeze on the Asus logo. I had to wipe the device and it hasn't happened since. But if I have to keep wiping my device for every update, I'm going to be supremely unhappy.

Also, I've noticed it keeps waking up on its own. The screen will just turn on as if I pressed the power button, but shuts off after the normal inactive-touchscreen period. I've only had this happen when I'd watch something on netflix (before the ics update) and had it running and put it to sleep. Now it does it anytime it's locked no matter how many times I wipe. Couldn't find anyone else with this issue.

Lastly, I've been recently using this to watch movies by connecting it via the mini HDMI slot, but I noticed that after disconnecting the HDMI, the audio will no longer work, either through the built-in speakers or the audio jack. The audio only works when I plug the HDMI back in, which leads me to believe the audio signal for "route to HDMI" doesn't switch off.

The funny thing is that I had none of the reboot issues on the first ICS update, but the second one seemed to cause what everyone else was experiencing on the first.

Severely irritated.

My Transformer had been running great then of course as I am waiting on my flight it decided to competely crash and not even allow me to turn it on. I finanally was able to boot it and do a factory restore. Now it''s even more glitchy. Randomly turns off and if I adjust the brightness past around 70% the screen will go blank. I then have to bump the brightness down using the dock to get it to be visible again. I am completely stock and have never rooted. Pretty frustrating. Once I get home I am going to try and reload everything but for now I don't have a pc to connect it to.

ICS has pretty much ruined my Transformer. It's such an unstable mess because of it. Even if they get the battery drain and the random reboots fixed, I still bet the weird graphical flashing glitch on the home screen will still be there. Really disappointed in Asus. This experience has actually soured me on Android all together.

I've loved the shit out of my prime until my camera went to shit after ICS. I've been hoping it would get a fix because it's pretty widespread. XDA forums seem to think it's a hardware problem and there won't be a fix. I've heard nothing but terrible things about their support, so I'm dreading sending it to them. They don't even pay for you to ship it to them and then take weeks to get it fixed. Love my prime, pretty sure I won't be buying another ASUS tablet ever again, though.

So with the Transformer Infinity coming out this/next month, should we expect the TF101 or TF201 to drop in price?

And would the new processor (Tegra 3 quad-core, I think) make much of a difference (b/w Infinity and TF101) if I'm not playing intensive videogames?

If there's a more appropriate thread for these questions, please direct me! Thanks

The worst part is that ICS is so awesome. Just awful that it comes with this problem and that Asus didn't care enough or test it enough to realize it prior to release.

Yep, I see some of the neat things that make the experience smoother and yet it's all hampered by the core issues.

As someone who has his contract up in just a couple months on his phone, this whole fiasco has made me think twice about considering Android for my next phone over iOS and Windows Phone 7. Asus hasn't been timely with a fix either or even info of what's going on. If one of the better companies is giving me problems, I fear what would happen if I went with a lesser company with a phone.

I don't think I'd buy an Asus phone yet. Samsung's flagship Galaxies, HTC One and EVO series, Nexus series, and flagship Droid series are the only Android phones people should buy.

Since when has Asus been a leading, better or even premier Android Phone manufacturer? Tablets and Phones are not one in the same for this OS. Its a very important distinction. They didnt even start getting traction and attention in the Android tablet space until the Prime and the keyboard docks started surfacing.

It's not about Asus making phones or not. Asus is probably one of the better tablet manufacturers about how quickly and constantly they update their tablet. What has soured me is what is one of the benefits of Android. There is so many different hardware configurations which can be an issue when trying to port an OS which includes tayloring the OS to have unique features not found in default Android. Add the fact that you're reliant on third party companies to get it right and actually have to wait for them to release it along with needing carriers to get off their ass to get it to you, it's just a big complicated mess that makes me feel uneasy about when I get an OS update, if it will work right or well, and when things get fixed if they are needed to be fixed. I wouldn't have to worry about that with iOS, and to a much lesser extent Windows Phone 7.

I'm sitting here with a very unstable device now waiting for a fix that may not fix everything and not knowing a time frame. This is from a company who is quicker and more responsive about things without any of the barriers that a phone manufacturer would have. If something in a better case scenario can happen like this, I fear what would happen in a phone scenario.

Damn it, we should have a rule of not bumping the thread until the fix is out. The fix is in testing right now. Asus made a statement on the 18th about thinking they had things worked out.

Remarkably the actual structure of the device is pretty sound. I've thrown mine about four times so far and the unit has on two of those occasions popped out of the bezel - I just clicked it back in. It hasn't missed a beat after that abuse (apart from the resetting and the like).

I really want another tablet but will wait and see what Win8 brings early next year.

Oh, for those that don't know, cycling your wireless router often fixes the reboot loops.

I gave up on waiting for Asus to respond to the boot loop. My transformer was awesome before the ICS update, and the smoothness was only a temporary plus side once I received the second ICS update. That's why I finally jumped on the AOKP ROM and, while still having occasional reboot issues/sleeps of death (which never happened on the first ICS update), at least I'm tolerant of bugs from custom ROMS via the awesomeness that is voluntary developers hoping to squeeze out as much as they can with their fantastic optimizations.

Had to go back to my 17" laptop to perform daily email correspondence, web browsing, and general non-power user tasks when it was supposed to be art-related, streamlined, no-nonsense, super clean, optimized super machine of freelancing wonderment.

Glad they're finally fixing it, but it's far too late for me to care about it now.

I've 'unrooted' with voodoo ota rootkeeper, and when I restart it starts to install them jumps to CWM with a signature verification error. I disabled signature verification in cwm but it doesn't make a difference. Any ideas?

edit nm i see flashable roms out on xda. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1334673 for those interested

edit : just realized I was being stupid, cwm flashable isn't out yet.

it hasn't done the random reboot yet. it used to do this weird glitch where the desktop icons would disappear but that's stopped now. however, the diagonal graphical glitch when i press the recent apps button is still there.

I received the update last night and everything seems smoother. But, that's how it feels after every new update. I'm going to give it a week or two of use and see how it goes. By then we might see whatever issues not fixed pop up.

I mentioned this to Simleuquorice, but the amounts of reboots and stuck loops seemed to have dropped for me when I turned on the Asus Customizations. I turned them off about a month ago for no reason at all, and that's when I first started noticing the reboots.

I'm wondering if there's any relation between the two, I haven't gotten any new reboots since I installed the last update from a few days ago.
