A Nyx will die just as fast as anything else with any sizable numbers shooting at it (watch a titan get roasted by 120 battleships in ~2 minutes), not counting that the Nyx is not the EHP monster that the Aeon is. And yes, while mechanics prevent capitals from entering high sec anymore, there are quite a number of surviving high sec capitals (most famously Chribba's Revelation in Amarr) still in existence. There's nothing in the rules which requires them to leave, and CCP won't force them out.

I've never played either so I'm reposting the drama as I watch it since I'm a fan of the stories I here about the stuff people pull in this game and wanted to be a part of one of these moments as it happened somehow. Apparently he can't attack anyone from what folks are saying or he'd get pulled. The ship itself is something like circa 2004 or some ancient shit and its been in hiding till now. If every single goon gang suicide ran it the thing can tank the shit out of it and not bat an eye. Its like an illegal deathstar from what the stream is saying. Anyone EVE play a lot so that they can confirm or correct this for me?

The traditional new player failure is to look at the entire big picture of all EVE has to offer and suffer from brain overload at the sheer number of options. I always recommend a progression up from the smallest to the larger ships, as you gain a better understanding of the various mechanics without risking expensive stuff early. That'll just frustrate some, and they'll bail. Been playing since '03, and I still fly interceptors because they're relatively inexpensive, and tons of fun.

I should really look into the game more and try it out, I just find MMOs a bit overwhelming and have yet to play one that really 'grabbed' me.

The chat is saying that if he is fired upon or attacked in anyway they are uncertain if its within his rights to slaughter every ship out there including the Jita thing. They say it'd be a CCP ruling or something to determine if the Nyx would be within his rights to go berzerk in that place filled with unarmed ships and the entire Economy of EVE. If they do this and he ends up within his rights this will be one of the most legendary massacres in the history of gaming according to the stream.

EDIT: GM removed the Nyx. Damn! So close to something amazing there...

I couldn't get into EVE, but, Nationstates was similar back at it's peak. I was once in a large region that had been on NS since 04. Our region was destroyed by our Vice-president who happened to be a sleeper agent for an invader group. He had waited for over 5 years to make his move. he was the heart and soul of the region and it was all lies it turned out. Infact, not only was he a traitor, but, he was leaking MSN chats to the enemy forums and making fun of us. We often went to him for advice... :-/ really sucked.

Active tanking super capitals don't exist, as such the amount of DPS that a super can "tank" is reliant purely on it's EHP to see it through fight before dying. Super's EHP was once upon a time ridiculous though defeatable, but due to the enormous proliferation of super's CCP gave them a vigorous fisting with the balance bat. A common tactic for super ganks now is to drag them down with "welp fleets", in which the fleet consists entirely of gank fit battleships with utility highs fitting neuts (the idea being that 300+ neuts running on your capacitor will prevent you from activating resistance modules, SEVERELY lowering your EHP). One of many conventional fleet compositions capable of killing supers.

In short, supers die. All the time. This Nyx would not survive more than a couple minutes, if that, should GS decided to shoot.

Yeah, this was insane. Just spent the last 5 minutes watching massive non-stop torpedo explosions.

Right now, all self-propelled projectiles simply exit out of the center of every ship they're equipped on. There's no module to see the actual payload ejecting from. The Inferno expansion, however, will finally implement visible launchers. The animations and effects are really nice. (Video)

I'll have to look it over, though at the moment two things are preventing me from playing the game. The first is that I am not certain whether it is worth paying a monthly subscription fee. The second is that I'm probably already devoting too much time to another MMO game - Star Trek Online. However, the kind of dynamism in the EVE universe is what I really wanted out of STO, which is kind of lifeless in comparison. It's the one thing that might entice me to play the game.

While nowhere near the same size as this, I have seen pretty insane stuff in other games. Back in RO, I remember that some powerful guilds united and, to take down the most powerful guild in the server, sent a girl to make the guild master fall in love with her. The whole thing went pretty far, I think she even moved in with him and stuff. She broke up with him and the guy went into depression and disbanded the guild. It was insane. MMOs are serious business, heh

We had a similar stories as well, I remember one girl even got PREGNANT, then got in a fight with with his GM bf and defected to another guild. There is pretty much 0 fun in the way WoW is set up now. This game actually allows you to do what you want and actually play a real MMO. WoW is about as sterile as you get.

"Real MMO" is an awfully inflammatory statement. In my opinion games like WoW, SW:TOR, and GW2 can all be considered "real MMO's". It's along the lines of the people that say Wii games aren't real games.
