I'm with Garnett on this one. PC gaming has always been free, PS3+Vita are free, Steam is free. These services have comparable and sometimes exceeding feature sets with far less advertising.

Online multiplayer is a standard feature, not a premium.

Yeah not sure what else we should've said? I even said that the difference between it and Smash Bros was a double edged sword --- but surely folks aren't expecting hard criticism / analysis based on limited time with a preview build.

I think any dev, regardless of whether or not you provided assets, would be willing to give a lot of benefit of the doubt at this stage.

RE 4 on the PS360 is not one of the weakest HD ports. It's in the middle tier way above stuff like the Silent Hill debacle and Ubisoft's sloppy conversions of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia.

Instead we get Garnett "fighting for the little guy" on paying for live for a good third of the show. Don't get me wrong, I agree with him, but 7 years into this console gen is alittle late to be picking that fight

Yeah I get you're all a close knit group but don't go defending a guy asking if its better to projectile vomit or punch a kitten after playing a game. At least pretend you have some respect for your audience. That said I haven't even looked in the gaf thread, I'm sure a bunch of readers are saying crap also, only increasing the desire among press to defend one another

Microsoft is working on Live for their next system as we speak. There's not a better time to bring that up than now.

I don't think it's even standing up for the gamer either. For example, Netflix is more popular in the US on the PS3 than on the Xbox 360, which is cheaper and way more popular console. Why is that?

Charging a fee is a great business model if your customers are core gamers (like the 3 other people on the cast defending it) but it works completely against you if the goal is to be the box mainstream America use for all their TV entertainment options.

I thought the All-Stars discussion was fine. I can see how it might be awkward though, and that's a little disappointing if I'm honest. The Sony first-party stuff is my favourite so I love it when it gets discussed on podcasts etc. It would be a shame if Weekend Confirmed had to tone down that sort of coverage simply because of personal circumstances.

I trust Garnett's objectivity, so as long as he's not revealing anything he shouldn't, I hope he's able to find a way to continue covering Santa Monica games without any weirdness. I'm really looking forward to the God of War chatter this week for example.
