This new trailer is unique. It's a slow burn, and it's all about establishing a genuine feeling of dread with a slight bit of optimism towards the end. It's very well structured, and it manages to give us a great taste of the film without revealing as much about the plot. Plus, we get brand new Hans Zimmer compositions, unlike TDK which just reused music from Begins. The new music, which combines the Bane chant with the Ferry music from TDK, is an incredible composition! My initial reaction is that this is probably the trilogy's best trailer. The only other one that might give it a run for its money is that first TDK trailer..."Evening Commissioner..." |

Just a gigantic crowd beating the shit out of each other. Is there anything more brutal than a war fought with just your hands?
Course, it's a bunch of extra's, and we'll probably see tons of pulled punches, but it's the thought that counts. I have a feeling that at this point in the movie, the cops aren't really cops anymore. No access to equipment or firearms. I assume that Bane required them to lay down their "arms" earlier, when he takes over the city.

They don't make sense because it's a scene shown out of context. It's a bit silly to be criticizing a film based on disparate scenes you caught in a trailer, don't you think?

I still don't see the super imposing Bane everyone was talking about months ago.

How would not killing a beloved comic book hero in an immensely popular franchise take balls? We have yet to see the hero die in any comic book movie. I hope Nolan did what he felt was right for the story, whether it is killing off Batman/Bruce Wayne, or whatever else.

I have only seen the trailer on my iphone but I am impressed with what I have seen thus far of Hathaway. Her line readings all sound very good and she seems to have a bit of a bad-ass edge to her. Pleasantly surprised. Batwing looks sick. Why are people saying that Nolan went Emmerich, because he blew up a bridge? The bridge explosion seems haunting. Something about how quiet it is and the framing of the shot that makes it feel that way for me. Movie will be grand in IMAX.

What strikes me is just how pretentious this whole thing looks. The very first LINE of the trailer is "A storm is coming," which I'm pretty sure people would laugh at were George Lucas's name on the script instead of Nolans - I mean, how cliche does it get? Then all of the ponderous dialogue, the music... something tells me this ain't gonna be like Batman Begins, which is what I was hoping for.

He's a dark character who lives in a grim world full of bleak stories.
I remember once I said Memento wasn't Chris Nolan's best movie here on GAF. The shit people threw down my throat was like no internet beating I'd ever had before, but you know what? Some of them actually made good points and I feel like even if my opinion hasn't changed, it's more informed thanks to the discussion.

Some men just want to watch shittacular movies. Like the guy in the last few pages of the OT who wanted a sequel to Batman & Robin.

Batman was "fun" for a few movies. You might remember them, they had bat nipples and Arnold spewing one liners. Out of all of the mainstream heroes, Batman has always been the dark and brooding one.

This actually seems more in line, tonally, with Batman Begins than it does TDK. Story is coming full circle. |
