1) It's got a better frame-rate 2) It's running at a higher resolution so will look nicer 3) It has a better draw distance 4) I get some gamer points :) 5) I get to use my dust magnet :P I might start the game and not notice the differences but I may as well try it for the £8 it's setting me back ;) |

I have to ask. Did anybody else get a gift from a nun in their playthroughs? A cross and rosary necklace that gives you a bit of luck against getting shot?
I got it in one of those play sessions where I spent a solid hour just watching the people in town go about their business and have conversations. I was enrapt. And then lo and behold I was slowly approached by a nun who bestowed the gift, as if to reward me for taking some time to breathe in the full splendour of the world that Rockstar's creative team had painstakingly assembled. None of my friends know what I'm talking about so I figured I would ask GAF. God I truly love this game. |

Loved it mainly for its ending. There was the sadness knowing that the days of the Wild West were coming to an end and its something that John welcomes for the sake of his family. However at the same time, you know that this it isnt going to end nicely despite his best efforts to rebuild his life. For example Abie having a dark past (being a prostitute and not being able to read suggesting a life of constant upheaval) but nonetheless being an innocent person, Bonnie's final scene with him and his naive but gifted child, it all feels cobbled together desperately in a setting where there's only doom coming.
The games theme throughout is redemption (given his past crimes) and the government will not simply let him off no matter what. In fact in the mission when they come for you, Johns reaction says it all, it was going to happen sooner or later and to top it off, you think you have a slight chance (after you exit the barn and it goes into slomo briefly) only for them to shoot you in cold blood like a dog. I remember being completely silent from that point onwards and having nothing on my mind but to go kill the bastard as Jack.

Just bought the GOTY edition earlier today (yesterday, actually)
I've been playing it almost 14 hours straight.... Anyway, the singleplayer and Free roam multiplayer (at least with friends) are soooooo fun, but the competitive multiplayer is really, really bad. Soundtrack is great, controls took a bit of time getting used to, but now they're great, world is great, quests are great, etc. etc. |

I absolutely hate Euphoria thanks to GTA 4 and RDR and now Max Payne 3 placing it also on the main playable character instead of where it's just on the enemies like in Force Unleashed.
I prefer that method, where I can appreciate the visual spectacle of Euphoria without the encumbrance in controls. When you can't get through a fucking door, you know you've done something wrong with the physics. Or made something unintentionally hilarious when you get drunk in these games. |

You were fine with the Mexico part? I know many people who stopped playing at that point.

I played with two other of my friends, tried TDM on Macfarlane's Ranch and that game where it's basically Two-flag on some Mexican town map. The maps sucked, the aim assist/lock-on sucked, and no one was playing the hardcore servers, I was getting spawnkilled to all hell, it was not fun. On the contrary however, I played well over 5 hours straight of the free-roam and had some amazing moments.

Red Dead Redemption is one of gamings pinnacle achievements. Story, gameplay, presentation and the attention to detail/graphics are absolutely out of this world. I'm on my FOURTH playthrough, and as usual, I fall in love with the game all over again.
If RDR was on PC...Lol, I'd probably explode into a million pieces of candy floss. And I don't even like candy floss! |

I frigging loved this game. One of the best experiences I've had this gen.
I let my friend borrow it, and haven't seen it since. Been thinking about just letting him keep it as a public service, and pick up a new copy for myself. I appreciated the ending, but didn't like it as a video game ending, considering that you have the option to continue playing, but it was a great ending. I just thought John was an amazing character deserving of another adventure in the sequel. I hated Jack with a passion. I never got to finish Undead Nightmare, but I really enjoyed it. Everytime I watch a western, I get an uncontrollable urge to play RDR. |

I recently picked up the goty version on ps3 to have something to play with friends. I finished it and played undead nightmare for the first time and I still really hate this game, though the weirdness of the undead dlc was kind of cool at first. The main game is virtually unplayable and if not for trophies I wouldn't have been able to do it again, but even now I'm finding it beyond a drag to try and get 100%. I just cannot force myself to do these boring ambient challenges.
