Is Turn 10 uptight much?
#13357
I'd love to sell a car design on my storefront but I'm worried my design will get me banned from forzamotorsport.net.
Last night, I tried to upload a photo to my storefront titled "Dangerous Curves Ahead," but amazingly, this title got flagged for "inappropriate content" and I was warned that my account could be banned. What do you think? Would this car design get me in trouble? I could give a nipple reduction to the girl on the hood. ![]()

Got the new videos up:
50 Days of (Green) Hell Day 47 - Monte Carlo SS Stock Car I know it is some sort of sacrilege to drive a Stock Car around the Ring, but I figured I gotta do it at least once. And I am glad I did as the car is actually a handful (in a good way) around the course. The tail end wants to come out damn near every time you hit the go pedal but once you learn the car, it isn't so bad. The oddest thing about this car was how peaky the engine was. I expected a nice big V8 to have a linear powerband, but this engine seems to bog down until you get a rush of all the horsepower at once. Maybe it is my driving style causing this, but I was definitely surprised by it. The car does sound incredible and the cockpit view is pretty cool, so it was a surprisingly fun lap. 50 Days of (Green) Hell Guest Drive 43 - EXXON SuperFlo Supra I am starting to hate watching Dead Poul do these laps as he always makes me feel bad! Watch him go faster than is sane in the wicked GT500 Supra. |

But if you want an awesome car with absolutely abhorrent handling, try the Pagani Hyyruaeeuataga-thing or the Kooneeisissgngeign Agera. Both I have driven and they are both beyond terrible! |

I'll play around with the HIGH WIR YA. Whatever it's called. If I remember, those air brakes are the cause of the floaty handling. The Agera (I'm not going to even pretend like I know how to spell Koenigsegg) is just a piece of high powered crap. Like feces from a blindfolded bull high on Cialis.

I am sure there are other cars that handle terrible, but I can't think of anything right now. That might be a fun thread topin in the FM.net forums. Could even get some good answers. @Shinn - I picked up Sony Vegas 11. Any good tutorials or how-tos you would suggest for learning it? |

Just a tip jcutner for your future photos, if you don't already know it : go back in your replay with the backward arrow button instead of using the triggers, this will eliminate the unrealistic skid marks in front of the car. :)
I'll post some photos of the new cars later in the afternoon too. BTW, we're at 85 car manufacturers now, 86 after Porsche get back in the game. We already know from BADNED's list that MG and SRT are coming. The man himself already said that Turn 10 had lots of new manufacturers waiting to be unleashed. Seems pretty crazy that we'll probably reach 100 manufacturers in FM5. I don't know about you but with each DLC, the car list reminds me more and more of GT4's one. The thing that I absolutely loved in GT4 was the diversity of the car list. You could go from a normal everyday car like a Mégane to a crazy GroupC prototype to a sleeper wagon to a rally car to a Motorwagen, etc... Now don't get me wrong, FM5 will need a massive boost in track diversity so that all those awesome cars don't go to waste. Personnaly I dream of this : - Spahurst (of course !) - Norsdchleife completely redone (laser scan that bitch) - 24h Nürburgring layout - Alpine Ring from FM1 - Tokyo from FM1 - Rio de Janeiro from FM1 - Macau racetrack - Ebisu Circuit (even though I'm no drifter, it could be used in career) - Ralli di positano from FM3, use it only as a rally location or low class races in career - Bugatti track from FM3 - Col du Turini stage from the Monte Carlo Rally or at least a part of it - Pikes Peak (before being tarmac only) - One or two ice racing tracks with multiple layouts each - Some super stage tracks (including the official Race Of Champions one) on dirt, tarmac and snow - Maybe even some "infinite" areas (think like 1NSANE) to add new type of races in SP (checkpoint for example) and MP (capture the flag for example) Now in this dream, all the tracks in FM5 would have full dynamic time of time and changing weather. Also, dirt and snow tracks would have terrain deformation like in Sega Rally. Just use the extra power from running virtually only one car on the track to achieve that, very much like the extra AA and higher LOD in FM4's time trial. Basically with new four new surfaces (dirt, ice, snow and wet) and the addition of night, I think the game would get way more diverse in term of driving. Damn, I really need to take the time to put all my crazy ideas in one nice document to send to Turn 10, that way they'll hopefully steal at least some of them for future FMs. :lol |

I'm not so sure. FM1 -> FM2 saw a very big change in term of hardware architecture + multithreading. Considering that next-gen most likely won't reinvent the wheel again, I could see a "normal" incremental release for FM5.
Beside, storage problems will be lifted next-gen so they'll be able to put all the tracks They'll still play the "too long to make" card as an excuse for only having 5 new tracks though |

I'm happy where Forza is at the moment, I just think it took a little too long to get here.
Everything is in place to have a massive Forza 5 but I doubt T10's ambition, they play it very safe. Forza 3 bugs have even carried across to Forza 4.

But I do agree about the time it has taken to get here. I've previously said that T 10 was playing catch up with PD ever since FM1. Having said that, what we do have now, imo, is the ultimate racing game in the form of FM4. Turn 10 has a very solid base now, and don't have to fight it out with anyone else anymore. In order for Turn 10 to garner the highest accolades there is whether it's from the press or the public in general, they have to produce a very big game, which includes what people have been wanting and expecting for a very long time now. That is time of day, weather and track variation, varying disciplines, track day immersion..etc. But it's more than that though. They have to go beyond the traditional content and feature sets everyone expects and deliver something truly unique. Something that stands out from every other racer and perhaps, even other genres. A talking point, a water cooler moment as it were. 'Innovation' must be a catch phrase at Turn 10 studios. It must be written on the walls, framed up in the foyers and even sung as an anthem daily at the Turn 10 studios..... "Creativity, as has been said, consists largely of rearranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know. Hence, to think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted." George F. Kneller

But once again this may be what Horizon is all about. Short of that, of all the various changes they can make to the next game, time of day is the most important for me, and not just static times either, but a moving cycle. After that would be weather conditions although I think the two go hand in hand. I'm not a hardcore motorsport junkie though, I just love cars and simulation physics that bring out the character of each one. |

I pretty much always use a pad, but I try to use the Speedwheel when I can. It is actually really nice and works well with smaller and smoother inputs.
------------------------------------------ Got the new videos up: 50 Days of (Green) Hell Day 48 - Ford Transit SuperSportVan What can I really say? It is a van going around the Nurburgring. And the real kicker? It was actually quite fun and the van was more than capable. I was surprised by how well the van controlled and how much fun it was to drive. It doesn't feel as heavy as it is and it could take corners faster than a van has any right to. The biggest drawback really is the weird gearing and power delivery. Because of how they work together, the gears feel both wide and too short. It is a really odd feeling and I imagine it might have something to do with optimal gearing for loads combined with a high efficiency rating. Although, they do call this the SuperSport van, so maybe it is just me. Seriously, go take this car around the Ring and tell me if I am crazy or not. 50 Days of (Green) Hell Guest Drive 44 - Ferrari 360 Modena Another Dead Poul/Ferrari run! Although this car has the distinction of having one of the worse models in the game (look at that PS2 engine!), he makes the car look good! |

Here is a small teaser of what's coming soon (soon like Friday soon ;) ) The base paint is basically done, just few more logos to make and will be ready to roll. I'm really doing my best to make that ugly car look pretty, not an easy task :D Anyway, I hope you like what you see. As soon as I'm done with it I'll go back to finish Cortina.
Cheers, HD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() EDIT: As for the question, I pretty much use the controller mostly, since I paint a lot and like to race in brakes so I go with what I have in hands ;)

The Venom is so damn twitchy, have to feather the accelerator to prevent it from spinning out. But it's sooooooo fast.

The thing is an absolute monster! After some digging around, searching for some Forza Horizon info, I came across this "Microsoft X-Box 360 Game Packaging Concept - Forza Horizon the new entry in the Forza Motorsport International Road Racing Game Series. This installment is centered around the musical festival entertainment event at the road race - multiple premiums include a DJs vinyl LP record, VIP all-access backstage passes and a soft-case ice chest tote."
