Ok? How much revenue is it still making would be the important question since Zynga just put down some big cash for it and it's already lost 1/3 of its base.
Seems like the creators saw the bubble bursting and cashed in at exactly the right time. Big respect for being able to know that and do it. |

I'm actually not bored with it. Probably because I not only bought the game, but played enough to afford a few good color packs. Now that I actually put effort into drawings, it's more fun. The sad thing is though, most of the people I play are still using the free version, and they take a long time to play the game (where I usually get right back to them within a day).
Also, I limit myself to friends, rather than random opponents, which makes it so I don't "overplay" the game. Draw Something is fun, but I feel like I nearly missed the boat. It was only a buck, but I felt that as soon as I went from free to paid, everyone stopped playing. I hate when that happens. I'm all for using words as hints or even descriptions. In the right contexts anyway. Sometimes you just get three words to choose from that aren't appealing. But actually drawing/writing the word? That's stupid. For the most part it's more rewarding to draw even the lowest-value or easiest word, but do it creatively. I think some folks are just lazy.

I'm assuming a linear drop, which is admittedly quick and dirty and unlikely to be accurate. In fact, odds are that each person leaving is likely to make it more likely for others to leave, because it's a social game. Once you hit a critical mass of people leaving, it'll totally collapse because there will be nobody to play with.

And again, this happened almost right after I bought the game. It's as if I was the only one who got excited to try and get better. 10 or less friends is the way to go, anyway. I think I'm facing 6 of my friends right now. Only two of them make their moves regularly anymore. Obviously people playing 20-30 games with random opponents are going to get tired of it (and kill it for the rest of us), but for me the experience feels like it has longevity since I face less people, and when I play I go for creativity and proper color use. But again, many of my friends are content with the free version and are therefore really limited. At this point I couldn't believe being stuck with the "free" word selection and not having the Spring, Fall, and Holiday packages.

Funny that I decide to check it out when it's on the decline... I'm with a lot of others in saying it's a fun distraction, but I highly doubt I'll still be playing it in a month or two from now. I'd say my biggest complaint is that it's really difficult to draw anything intricate with my finger on an iPhone. Not to mention some of the words I've gotten as choices for 3-coin'ers aren't even words; they're nicknames for douchey celebrities like Jennifer Lopez (i.e. "jlo"). How do you draw something to symbolize that?

I don't really understand why people get tired of the game after a couple of days/weeks.
Is it really meant to be played constantly? I take it like I take Hanging with Friends, a game that you pick up and play in the moments of the day that you're bored and want something quick to do. No pressure on playing it hardcore throughout the day; you play it when you get small chances here and there, and you play it with a few close friends. Seems like those who aren't playing it anymore merely got burnt out on it. Limited games and better drawing effort seem to be two possible remedies. Sadly, I think it's too late for them. A lot of the point of Draw Something is that the users play a big part in determining how fun it is. Obviously there are some issues with the actual game itself, but in terms of keeping it relevant and enjoyable, there's a lot left to the players.

last I checked it was 250k/ day or something? Probably peaked higher than that, but I am not sure.
Not surprised to see this drop off. DS was prety fun for a short time, I was fairly addicted to it for a solid weekend plus a few days following, before it stated feeling stale (and I never, ever play games like that). It really did tap into something in a neat way. I was kind of shocked to see Zynga jump on it with such ferocity, but i guess they really have crazy money to burn and can certainly use something like that as an interesting experiment if nothing else (it's a good head-start). It just gives you a god sense of how huge they've become and how little money actually matters when you are at that level. I can see them building DS into something a little more meaningful and sticky, but I think it's best days are behind it, and that's probably fine with everyone. |

I would play it a lot more if it wasn't so slow. Slow to boot up, slow to play a round, slow to resume if I lock the screen.
It reminds me a lot of Words with Friends. The core game is fun but it's just so laggy that it makes me hesitate before bothering. These simple games need to be quick. |

It was bound to fail. You can't fucking win!!! I remember thinking to myself like 10 games in, how the fuck do I win? Why is there no point? I need a point! lol

The problem with the game is that the nature of how it's played basically makes inclusion of any kind of reward system, such as a coin multiplier brought on by a winning streak impossible, so you end up with a eventually monotonous guessing game with no winning or losing and words that repeat themselves too often. I still find it hilarious that Zynga bought the game (for so much especially) when it had an obvious lack of longevity.
