Just watched Akiba 04. Show's still brilliant. I think 12 episodes is about the right length for it, though. Don't want to draw things out and let the premise overstay its welcome.
Eh, I love Akagi, but I really don't think he'd work in a proper Sentai. The character works so well because of the tone and direction of Akibaranger, which wouldn't really fit in an official show. |

Gai was a hero worshipper in a world where Sentai, Gavan and Masked Riders (considering Super Hero War) actually existed. Akagi is deluded super geek. There's definitely similarities in their characterisation, but there's also key differences that should be considered.

Okay, I'm gonna be the one to say it this year...Go-Busters is getting WAY too much hate.
It's not a bad show at all, it's just not as mindblowing and lovable as Gokaiger was...mostly because Gokaiger blew minds. This show just has had a lot of growing pains in trying to be different too. Don't forget the fact that often times people are comparing it to Akibaranger which is also amazing. It's not Gokaiger level, but it's not a bad show in the slightest. We could have Goseiger back, would people like that? |

I'm actually inclined to agree with you, Edag. Go-Bust is a decent show in its own right, it's just had to be coming off Gokaiger and sandwhiched inbetween the unofficial show Akibaranger.
It's doing some cool stuff, like some shaking up of the ground->mecha battle formula, it's just got the unfortunate job of being caught between anniversarry season and a novelty season. |

It's like Go-Busters is trying to embrace that very serious drama show, but they're just worried about embracing it too much. |

Yeah....I don't know what people thought of the Shinkengers as characters...I always felt like they were some of the most real characters written for Sentai in years, and I thought the same thing of Timeranger, so I don't know what the deal is here...

Red and Yellow buster range from annoying to boring. I think the only reason I like blue is because he is an older ranger, something we haven't seen in forever. |

Also, both Shinkenger and Timeranger have the same writer, which explains that. But she's also the writer for Go-Busters, so leave that to blow your mind. |

so far. The others that she's written have always been very character focused show as opposed to crazy plot shows...and the characters themselves have been very human and very lovable, bursting with personality. Then again, OOO had boring characters too. Gingaman I don't think I've seen enough yet to decide how I feel about the characters there. |

It's cool seeing the scale of the models they use for the mecha fights:
![]()
![]() Yep, blue has super strength (like a Gorilla), yellow can jump really high (like a rabbit), and red can run really fast (like a cheetah). |

But then what's the point? A toned down Akagi is just Gai after reading TVTropes. And that sort of fourth wall awareness doesn't gel well with a show that takes itself relatively seriously.

In any case I guess I'm one of the few who has no problems with the GoBuster cast. |

Theres not really any fourth wall in akibaranger. Other than tranforming, they stay grounded within the rules of their world. As for comical characters in serious stories, it worked well fot ziggy, chip and bridge in their power rangers series which were particularly serious. So then I dont see why it wouldnt work with such a character.

I just watched Kamen Rider W episode 24 which is the second part of the Radio Tower Clown episodes. I gotta say this episode takes the cake for bizarre stuff in this particular series' shows so far.
Love the show (except for Akiko :C ) but wow I think they saved up the crazy for this episode. I'm thinking once I finish W to go for either Faiz, Kuuga, Kabuto or Fourze. Not so big into the silly stuff like the above...any thoughts on what I should hit next and why? EDIT: NM...episode 25 with the evil dolly beats this just for the sheer WTF of the fights. o_O

That's exploiting a trope, which is still doable without completely breaking the fourth wall.
