They're tiny little vampire bugs that feast on your blood. They're very very good at hiding, and can climb almost all surfaces. They can also live up to a year without having any food (AKA, your blood).

To get rid of roaches buy boric acid from a farmacy. Don't get an anti roach product that has boric acid, just plain boric acid. Mix it with flour, chopped onions and sugar. Make little balls and put them on all corners and damp areas in your house. If a dog or whatever eats it nothing happens. However if a roach gets it it'll take it to its nest where it and the other roaches will eat it. The boric acid causes them to dehydrate and die within a day. Since they take it to the nest and all the other roaches eat it, you will find a lot of Roaches dead in your house in a few days.

I recently went to my friends house to check out his wii. I was generally impressed. It was larger than I expected though.

I sometimes find little bugs in my apartment even though my apartment gets sprayed all the time. It's sort of an inevitable part of living in an apartment in the lowcountry...but I really like my apartment so I'll put up with it

My family used to get roaches real bad when we were in New York. Saw dozens a day, for years. In bed, under cutlery, behind the garbage, even in electrical sockets which was the worst. Try to plug something in and get denied by the crunch of a cockroach shell.
They like dark places, so set glue traps behind or under furniture or other areas where light will be blocked. Make sure not to leave any traces of food behind when you eat, and stay on top of garbage that may accumulate. If you are in an apartment, call management. A lot of it is out if your hands, as they could be infesting a dirty neighbor's place or be living underneath yours or in the walls. I have seen exactly one roach in the place I have now, and that was soon after moving in. When we first got here it was crawling with spiders and beetles, thousands and thousands of them. I needed to crawl into the 2' high foundation and clear it out. Thankfully I don't have a huge aversion to bugs. I don't want them all over my place but I don't mind a few. If I did I don't know how I would have been able to live in this house the first couple of weeks I was here. I got a spider bite on my thigh while doing yard work three weeks ago, and it's still bruised. The skin is all dried up and purple, but it's getting better.

Both bedbugs and roaches are the quick path to insanity.
I've luckily never had either, but I've watched people who have just unravel in front of me. Both are very hard to kill and I'd go with a pro exterminator immediately. Roaches in particular are kind of terrifying. they're born pregnant. they can live for a week with a missing head. They are not of this world. |

We used to get big fat flying ones in Indonesia. One of my classmates had waist length hair and ended up with one flying into it and getting stuck. It was like watching a goddamn horror movie as she screamed and frantically attempted to dislodge the cockroach from her tangles as it got stuck deeper and deeper inside her hair.
Occasionally you'd get white ones as well. Something extremely creepy about white cockroaches. |

I would be scarred for life if that happened to me. It'd be worse though because I'm one of those people who doesn't wake up easily, so a roach would in theory have its way with me and I wouldn't even know.
Hell I found a roach crawling on my bed once about 4 years ago and I still have this thorough checking routine I do before I hop into bed every night. As if not finding anything in a 1-2 minute check means I'm good to go for the next 8 hours, but it's like an OCD thing for me. I can't get into bed until I do it. |

Next it is time to clean your kitchen and room. Everything. Move your fridge and clean underneath (you will by surprised by the food stuff that gets under it) move your stove and do the same. Clean out the drawers and cabinets. Make sure you get every single food item and either seal it in Tupperware or ziplock bags. Clean under your bed, under couches and basically everywhere you eat or have food. If you have a pet get a sealed food container and at night put the food in the bowl or dish back in the sealed container. Next you can either use bait or a fogger. If you find the infestation to be large then you fog followed by trapping. If you use a fogger open every cabinet drawer/ outlet cover/ cabinet and start the cans. Make sure there are no open flames or pilot lights lit. Also all of your food should be in containers or in the fridge. Leave for about 6 hours and then clean again. Clean out all the dead. Roaches because the live ones will eat the dead ones to survive. To bait I suggest using http://www.google.com/m/products/det...61668383765732 This gel is amazing. Use it in cabinets around the fridge and under the stove. Clean out every couple of weeks and continue the perimeter spray. This should help greatly. |

Alright. I can help with this. What sucks is that no matter how clean you or most of your neighbors are all it takes is ONE filthy packrat of a neighbor to bring in and harbor bugs. You have to accept that this will be a constant battle as long as you live in that building.
But there is hope: With the right steps you can ensure roaches stay out of your place and just go somewhere else. First off, call your landlord/building management and make a complaint and see if they're willing to work with you. They may try to help, they may not but give it a shot. Not sure what the legalities are for that. In the meantime clean the FUCK out of your apartment. Do NOT leave food lying around. Do you leave dirty dishes chillin in the sink? Or in the bedroom? Can't any more. I'm not trying to say you're dirty or anything like that because it's not about that....it's just that I've found leaving something w/ food out even for an hour or two because you're gaming or watching a show can feed bugs when they go scouting. You **have** to eliminate their food source. A small piece of food may seem like nothing to us but that's food for a month for an insect. Any open boxes w/ food in the cabinets need to be sealed. Also pour some bleach down your shower and kitchen sink drain. They can crawl up/down there. Second go to home depot and get some of this: ![]() It'll take some time but it's worth it. Get a fan going, open some windows and have somewhere to be once you're done spraying because it'll take a few hours to dry and those fumes will hurt you. But it's worth it. Spray along every crack, floorboard, crevice, corner..etc. Also, get some mattress & boxspring covers for bedbugs. Even if you don't have bedbugs other insects can crawl about in your mattress/boxspring. This will keep them in to starve to death being unable to get out. Or keep them from crawling around in there if they're not already in. Nothing worse than bugs crawling on you at night. Fuck that shit. Ok. So now your place is clean. You're not leaving food out. You've sprayed. That's great. Now let's get started: Buy some of THIS: ![]() Depending on the size of your place....you may be buying a fucking LOT of these...they will stink until it dries but it's worth it. This gel is the shit. You don't need to apply it everywhere...just places you know roaches to traffic. They'll nibble on it...take some home and spread sweet sweet everylasting death. Alright...almost there. One more step. I say we take off and nuke the entire place from orbit....it's the only way to be sure: ![]() This is diatomaceous earth. It's a fine powdery substance made up of the fossilized remains of single-celled, aquatic organisms called diatoms. It can be used as an insecticide. "DE is almost pure silica (with some beneficial trace minerals); under a microscope, it looks like shards of glass (glass is made from silica). On any beetle-type insect that has a carapace, like fleas and cockroaches, the DE works under the shell and punctures the body, which then dehydrates and the insect dies. DE is totally nontoxic. There is no buildup of tolerance like there is to poisons because the method of killing is PHYSICAL, not chemical." Just wear goggles, gloves and a mouth/nose mask so you don't breath in the dust when applying it. While non toxic (you *could* put a teaspoon in a glass of water and drink it w/ no ill effects) you don't want microscopic shards of glass going into your lungs. Also make sure it's FOOD GRADE diatomaceous earth. I use this at home and it works wonders. |

Why the fuck did I have to click on this thread. ugghh.. Well since I am here I will try to help..I have a roach phobia.. So there is no way in hell that I can live with them. Every house I have moved into in the last few years has had them when I moved in and I got rid of them everytime.
First you need to bomb your house. Everytime you move into a new crib that should be the first you do. It will kill any existing fuckers. Next get this ![]() This is the greatest shit ever. I sprayed months ago and just saw a dead roach in my garage. Third..Look for cracks and holes that roaches can use to get into the house and seal them all. Last, if you have a yard, treat with the lawn bug killer. That shit last for a few months and is okay for pets after 24-hours. |
