Now in regards to Cordelia, the hatchet job that took place I blame primarily on Charisma Carpenter. Because of her decision to not disclose the fact that she was pregnant early on it left Joss and Company in a bad position. They had to go and rewrite much of their storyline in a crunch which unfortunately adversely affected the Cordelia character and introduced Jasmine. So with that said, the season could have been a hell of a lot worse. Thankfully Joss found a way to tie in the events of season 3 into the season 4 revisions and I think it worked out well all things considered. |

One of my favorite tv shows ever, watched through the whole show four times now or something like that. I loved every season, but there were a couple of weak if not bad episodes, I usually skip these like Restless or I Robot You Jane. But I'm just not getting into Angel I tried it two times now, got to season 2 or 3, but while watching I always compare it to Buffy and think of how much better Buffy actually is, so I end up watching Buffy again. I am really interested in season 5 though as Spike is my favorite fictional character of all times, but I just don't want to watch the first four seasons.

Season 5 of Angel is better than anything Buffy ever did, do yourself a favor though and don't watch Season 4 of Angel, it's worse than anything Buffy ever did. Also Restless is dope.

I always thought S7 could have ended up better than it did. I had heard that they basically had to rush a bunch of story arcs to a close because SMG said she was out after this. Nathan Fillion's character could have been a pretty good villain but there was no real time to develop him at all. I think most people hate 7 because of Kennedy and Anya gets killed

I remember watching Angel S4 and being both confused and amazed at the how the arc was pretty much continuously jumping from point to point each week. I've not seen any of them for about a decade, but I LOVED Angel Season 3 - the badguy (Holtz?) was really, really well conceived and played.
Is there any more info about the rewriting of Angel 3 and 4 around Charisma Carpenter's pregnancy? Sounds like it caused big issues! |

Season 5 of Angel is mostly crap (outside of the cool finale), and certainly not better than the best seasons of Buffy.

Just watching season 5 of Angel without watching the previous seasons... is just wrong. I dunno how much fun it would be if you aren't that invested in the characters not Spike/Angel. It's a good season though, marred by some weak episodes in the first half.
And season 3 is the best Angel season. |

I would have liked it more I think if it wasn't the final episode. I just don't get why they didn't make this the 21st episode and Primeval for the finale.

Also s4 of Buffy sucked anyways, especially the finale, might as well get that jank out of the way and segue into Buffy's best season. |

SPOILERS for those who haven't seen it yet: - the Beast, and the smackdown he lays on the gang when they first meet him - hardcore Wesley, hands down my favorite character in S4 - the way each ep flows into the next one, the whole season is like one very long episode - Angelus and the way they bring him out, I loved that ep - Faith coming in to help out later on I just really loved the whole feel of S4. Eh, guess I'm in the minority on this one. |

I don't have the dislike for Season 4 that a lot of people seem to have. I understand the complaints, though. As an overall season, it wasn't as strong as Season 3 or Season 5, but I enjoyed a majority of the episodes.

Same here. Well, maybe not quite as good as S5, but still great. Overall, I liked Angel more than Buffy. IIRC, S2 and S3 of Buffy are the best of either show though. Buffy was created around high school dynamics, and never quite worked properly after graduation. |

Angel Season 5 was marvelous but I wouldn't say it was better than anything Buffy ever did. I would put S5 Angel at the same tier as S3 Buffy (maybe S5, minus points for Riley).
