Terrific line. Oh, and terrific episode. Beatles licensing must've cost a shit ton though.

I loved that scene. Especially the random scientist woman's "Um, you can't smoke in here."

Anyone else really tired of Megan?

I think now that's she's not at the workplace, Don's eyes are going to start wandering. I want the old Don back.

Looking back, this season is more about Megan than Don. Which makes some sense, since we know almost nothing about her before now.

I mostly have, but then something comes up to remind me.

Actually, better it doesn't happen. Becuase in my fairytale version he's a successful TV commercial director, and if they bring him back he'll probably be an alcholoic or heroin addict.

I like how the pizza house thing is something you can never pull off these days because of how many ways there are to check what you dialed.

Her being there definitely kept him more in line which it seemed like he actually liked. I think it's pretty safe to say that he'll stray in short order. The only downside to this season and I guess since the move to SCDP is that Don is almost completely un-involved in the creative and pitching process. I do miss him coming up with some super brilliant idea and being this amazing salesman.

"Mad Men" May Have Paid Record Price for Beatles Song

Quote:
It doesn’t seem like a lot, but the producers of “Mad Men” may have paid a record price for a single master recording for a TV show. Sources tell me that Lions Gate and AMC paid “upwards of $250,000″ for use of “Tomorrow Never Knows,” a John Lennon song from the Revolver album. In order even to get the song, Sony/ATV Publishing had to get Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono to sign off on it.
Wowza.

That price tag.

But didn't they close with a Beatles song last season too? The one episode where Don gives Sally tickets to the Beatles concert.

Other shows get less budget so mad men can use a beatles song for 40 seconds.

$250,000 doesn't sound like a lot for a very memorable moment... especially if that price includes the rights for home video which I'm sure it does.

In one episode, Weiner presented 3 avenues for Pete's demise:

1.) By his own hand. Continued feelings of insignificance fuel his depression.
2.) His workplace has faulty elevators.
3.) He's playing it fast and loose with another man's wife.

I can't believe it, but this is straight out of the Simpsons' playbook.

Oh yes, and Pete sorted out his life insurance. Too many signs point to Pete, will it really be him? Or will signs switch again to Roger/Megan next week?

Last I checked, the budget per episode is around $3 million, so that seems like a significant chunk.

Let's get Alexis Bledel for a guest role.

Let's pay $250,000 and personally contact Paul McCartney for approval to use "Tomorrow Never Knows".

Let's film inside the elevator shaft.
