It's funny seeing Sonic blaze through these levels even faster than before. And it's not the use of skills doing it either, because he's got Super Sonic equipped.

I thought that would make sense.

If he got that to work could that also initiate the skydiving sequence? Could he somehow do that without using the rocket?

Sky diving is probably a volume trigger. Meaning a giant invisible cube and if Sonic is inside the cube, he skydives.

Is it possible to mod in music? I like this Chemical Plant Zone mix and made a video to see how it fits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLB5t...ature=youtu.be

I think music modding is possible, but as far as I'm aware there aren't any guides or anything. It might be difficult, because there was a guy on Retro who was volunteering to mod music if you sent him an MP3, but that seems cumbersome in and of itself.

It probably involves converting it to an ADX, and setting the loop points if you want smooth transitions. I think it's the same ADX standard they've been using for forever, so converting shouldn't be an issue, but I don't know about setting the loops. (I'm not 100% sure, since I haven't installed Generations on this PC, but I remember that the Xbox demo used ADXs.)

I'll look into it. I want to edit that song like I did in that video and just have it start and end so it loops seamlessly. The modern version in the game's too slow for my tastes.

Also, holy shit at Unleashed being ported. First I've seen of that.

No, it's definitely a different format than ADX. Still a Cinepak format, I think, but you need a compressor/decompressor that is tough to come by because you need an actual Cinepak license to acquire it.

It's either CSB or CPK, looking at the files.

It really caught me off guard as well. I didn't think SEGA still had it in them to create such a masterpiece of a game, but this game brought back my faith in Sonic games.

Crisis City Act 2 is my favorite theme in the game.

Aw, mangled seems like a bit much. It was different but it grew on me. The original is still accessible anyway.

But I might be different since I also enjoyed "Speak with Your Heart"

Like most Sonic musicians (Runblebee lol) they suck when dealing with lyrical songs but their instrumentals are ace. Speed Highway classic is so fucking good I can't even comprehend it.

I guess mangled is a tad harsh, since their version isn't really bad, it's just so completely different from the original.

Like I said, I don't mind using them again. I thought Speak With Your Heart was okay and liked Reach For the Stars, I'm just a big fan of the Sonic R soundtrack so it was just a little jarring.

Indeed , the level is way too long ..
I think that's because they made that levels based on 2 original colors levels.

Rumors buzzing around 4chan from alleged Sega employees that new level DLC is on its way! They both gave vague descriptions that matched up well enough, but one actually spilled the beans. Looks like it'll be

Icecap
Hidden Palace
Dragon Road
Starlight Carnival

If it's true, it's not a bad selection. Though I guess the modern level choices are a bit disappointing - those levels were already done in this gameplay style in their respective games, I'd rather have seen some Adventure stuff.

Icecap would be amazing however, as well as Hidden palace - especially if it were based on the Sonic 2 version.

Hidden palace - sonic 2 beta, or Hidden palace - sonic & knuckles? This is key. As much as I'd love to see a contemporary lava-reefish hidden palace take, them bringing in a well known beta level, but actually complete this time, would be pretty fucking cool.

Either way, it's no hydrocity.

Also, the whole pack sounds a bit too big to be real.

You read my mind. That'd be awesome.

I was going to say that I would've preferred something like Jungle Joyride until I went, "Oh wait, we have Seaside Hill already!" and also, "Oh wait, lag!" Arid Sands, I guess, could've been a good choice to round things out a bit in terms of environmental diversity too.

As for Starlight Carnival? I would've preferred Aquarium Park, just because Drill is so fun to use. Act 1 of Starlight Carnival is generally the eyecandy that sorta feels on rails. Then the rest of the 2D-esque acts aren't that great (I mostly remember the ones that use the moving yellow spring things). But I guess since Casino Night is a pinball machine, Starlight Carnival would've diversified the whole thing.

Taking with a grain of salt, nonetheless. Rumours and all that. Sounds too good to be true.

The first 4chan guy kept dropping hints before eventually just posting the full list of levels, and when he dropped the hint about Hidden Palace, it was him posting a screenshot of the Sonic 2 Beta version.

Also, according to the rumor, the "pack" will come in three purchase tiers:

Classic Only (HPZ/ICZ?)
Modern Only (DR/SLC?)
Complete (all four stages)

Interesting. The tiers make more sense, and the thought of them does make the whole thing sound a bit more legit.

Now it's to hoping that they don't forget the PC players with all of this.

I really like the SC stage where you're ascending a tower using the Hover wisp. I think it was act 5. Visually one of the most memorable parts of the entire game imo, even if the actual layout wasnt that strong

Please be real.

I've been on a Sonic kick lately, having polished off the Sonic CD time attack achievement. I booted up Generations again, and my word, it really is utterly fantastic, isn't it? I played GHZ and Chemical Plant for the first time in months, and it was a beautiful experience.

Edit: Stupid question, but I have beaten all the missions (Steam version) and the 100% achievement didn't pop 'cos I was in offline mode. Is there some way I can re-trigger it without playing through the entire game again?

It could be possible that they've spent time up until now just figuring out how to put DLC into the game. No sense in announcing something that you don't even know is possible.

This is pretty interesting. There's like a small chance this could happen. If they were taking this long to make the levels and making original music then it could explain the long time between an official statement about it.

......Even then it still sounds fake lol.

Across physical releases (not counting the 3DS version), it has sold about 1.5m. As for digital releases...who knows? I own it on Steam, and it also appears to be available on Amazon.

If the Steam market is big enough, then DLC could prove to be a lucrative proposition.

It was a slow seller. If I remember right, it didn't really take off in sales until Black Friday sales. A Wii version probably would've added an extra million.

According to the rest of the rumor, a Sonic CD level was planned but they had trouble deciding on how to handle it. If it's to be believed, there was a split within the team - some wanted it to remain faithful to Sonic CD's time travel mechanics, others wanted to introduce something new and have it be a level where different eras in time let you switch between Classic and Modern Sonic on the fly.
