Sunshine's theme was fucking majestic. I listened to it non-stop for almost a month after seeing the movie.

I know Williams shamefully stole it from his JFK score but this is so awesome.

Whenever I listen to it I picture Nedry and his fat ass stealing the embryos, I even know what he says. :P

I find Giacchino to be overrated. He was supposed to be the great new film composer but I just don't see it, sorry, hear it.

Alan Silvestri used to write incredible scores, but his career is full of filler.

Just for Back to the Future and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIAcN3qRAV8

though, I will always love his work.

From 13th Warrior, yet probably best used by Ridley Scott in Kingdom of Heaven.

Well, this thread is about The Avengers. Alan Silvestri's score is similar to that piece in scope and strength.

I did walk out of the theatre humming it. Was quite jarring to hear something epic like that then be in the city of Birmingham again...

Lest have some Giacchino Speed Racer here for the awesome.
Casa Cristo:

Just feels like an awesome roller coaster. In the scene, is all mixed with the fantastic and colorful visuals this race have.
Reboot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvwhIStnDw8
Just hear the music of Giacchino in the background, that blends perfectly with the flashbacks and the scenes, that comes in the end to the most epic ending of a race in any movie ever.
Let us Drink Milk:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6MW2FAQ1AU
You thought the awesome music in movie had just end with the race? Now lets hear some tear jerking music for the final moments, to then finish with a fantastic happy (and epic) note.
Speed Racer Credits:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G26P6Rnfwpo&t=3m38s
And the credits. First part is a remix of the english opening, the second part is a remix of the Japanese opening, and the end he blends both in a fantastic way. Not only that but he uses the original chorus from both openings instead of rerecording them with new voices, AND also uses the jump car sound as an instrument. If thats is not doing an awesome tribute, I dont know what it is.

Best live action anime adaptation with best music. Fuckin Giacchinno man, fuckin Giacchino.

Yeah. I don't think Giacchino is overrated at all. He has a plethora of amazing music behind him already. I would definitely say he's my second favorite composer behind John Williams. Alexandre Desplat is up there too.

Seriously. Giacchino's been really hit or miss for me but this theme was so good. Will hold me over until The Hobbit comes.

Basil's Conan the Barbarian soundtrack really is a work of genius. Two of my favourites tracks:

Recovery
Theology, Civilization

Now I will proceed to bum everyone out by reminding them that the new Total Recall and Prometheus score will have a hard time matching these two by Goldsmith:

Total Recall theme (1990)
Alien theme (1979)

Molossus was pretty subdued in The Dark Knight. Still I do get giddy hearing parts of it show up in other themes like "A dog chasing cars". Hope TDKR uses it again.

Literally laughed out loud when I read the thread title. The lack of a memorable central theme on the soundtrack was the one mark against this amazing film.

The very definition of forgettable.

I was pretty miffed when they announced Silvestri as the composer and while I did end up liking the the title theme, the score itself is definitely not very memorable. It works well enough within the film, but I desperately wanted iconic, character based themes attached to these films.

Marvel/the directors need to step it up.

That last track, "The Avengers" was great, besides that though, not much of it stood out to me.

The strings on that though are amazeballs. Gotta love Silverstri. The stuff he did on BTTF was some of my favorite movie music of all time. (Dat BTTF 3 Western theme!)

I liked the theme song, especially the part they repeated a couple times through the movie (part with mainly the horns). Although I don't think it's that recognizable or memorable.

Every time I hear the Spiderman theme I recognize it immediately, to me that's one reason its my favorite super hero theme.

I actually can't think of a "score" that's more forgettable than what we saw in the Avengers. The Fellowship of the Ring has the most memorable music we'll see in a long, long, long time. It's better than the Avengers. The film.

I'll just post one sample:

I think Marvel stepped it up with Thor and Cap.

I actually thought Iron Man's was forgettable. Having just listened to it now, I realized that it's actually been playing all through the movie, but I mistook it for licensed music playing in the background.

Personally, I find that there are quite a few 'themes' from movies (some already posted in this thread) that are quite memorable. Such as the theme that runs through Avengers Assemble. Which is fine. But then other than that specific theme, and the obligatory tracks that milk it into various other forms to make up the score, nothing else is very memorable. And that's what I find with most score's these days - I can't really enjoy listening to it all from beginning to end without skipping some tracks. The quality isn't there all the way through. But ofcourse there are obvious exceptions.

In terms of pure comic book superhero movies, I don't think we'll ever get another score like Superman (once again, acknowledging those who've mentioned it already), where everything from the "Prelude And Main Title March" to "The Flying Sequence", and everything in between ("Sonic Greeting") is just pure class. Almost perfectly portraying what is onscreen at any given time, whilst maintaining the qaulity of being a great individual track.

Damn after listening to various songs on it, The Incredible Hulk score may be the best of the MCU (in my opinion). Although Thor and Cap are quite nice as well.

I didn't even like the film, yet the theme was one of the things that stood for me.

The theme is so..."Avengers", it really just works.

The rest of the score I don't even recall.
