Killer Joe Trailer - William Friedkin's NC-17 Drama w/ SPEED RACER's Emile Hirsch
#1
This movie is crazy. I didn't like it, but you won't look at fried chicken the same ever again. And of course, the Speed Racer is headline bait for the GAF majority that think that is somehow a good movie. Enjoy.
TRAILER Director: William Friedkin (The Exorcist, Bug) Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon, Thomas Haden Church Writers: Tracy Letts (Bug) Synopsis

I'm intrigued, mostly by how this is NC-17. Matthew Mahogany actually looking good and no shirt removals? He was at first disgusted by the script, but then found the humor in it.
After all these years, I guess Friedkin still got the edge to get such a rating. Kermode saw it, apparently should watch out for a scene with chicken :P Oh yeah UK gets it first, June 29th! :D

Just came back from it.
WHAAAAAAAAAAT OH WOW I'll need a day to go over the finer details about the character motivations in the last minute of the movie. That fried chicken scene, oh man it's insane. I won't be able to look at fried chicken the same way again. Right after the screening, a couple went into a grilled chicken restaurant, they got balls! As I was coming back, I saw a girl having a fried chicken leg on the street, and honestly felt queasy. There were some painfully hilarious moments where I knew I shouldn't be laughing, which is a sign of a good black comedy. Matthew Mahogany, omg what a brilliant turn of a performance. He just crawls into your skin. If the Academy weren't such an uppity fart, his performance here needs to be considered for awards. Gina Gershon, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church, and Emile Hirsch are all great. Even without the fried chicken scene that will obviously be the most talked about part of the movie, it'd still make for a pretty good thriller with great direction, cinematography, and a chilling performance by Matthew Mcconaughey. William Friedkin still got game. Oh yeah, the NC-17 or 18 here in UK is obvious all over. Man, 2012 has been a great year for indie movies. |

All I will say is the scene involves a fried chicken leg, Gina Gershon and a whole load of WTF. |

I honestly don't know. UK has been getting quite a few released before the US this year, which is a very surprising change considering most releases in the past were US first, UK second or later.
Seems strange to release it after Rises in the US, it will be all but ignored by the masses but then it was never going to get more than a limited release, which is a damn shame considering all the good feedback. |

Saw it yesterday. Good grief, that entire final act was edge of the seat viewing. The film was also genuinely very funny at times.
If you think you've been spoiled on the fried chicken scene, you really haven't. It's a lot more graphic, uncomfortable and protracted than any description could give it credit for especially when he forces her to moan, I cringed throughout |
