Stargate SG-1 : The Alliance Xbox being shown off... #1

Robert_Kendo over at BetaGames.org seems to have gotten his hands on an Xbox build of Stargate SG-1 The Alliance. I've been actively searching for the game for 5 years now, but I guess it makes me happy to see another build out there, following the coverage of the PC build. Go check it out, the game looks pretty great for me, considering when it was being made.

Fighting Replicators would be awesome - especially with this gen, or next gen tech.

SG isn't in the place to have games made of it any more, and when it is brought back it will be rebooted back to the Egyptian aliens, if you want Replicators battles you'll have to hope some game dev rips them off.

Is there talk of rebooting SG-The Series? I hope note. They've established too big a universe just to reboot it.

There was talk (ages ago) of making sequels to the first movie, splintering it off into it's own canon.

I think the Stargate brand is dead. Permanently.

I never considered it that popular but the thing was on TV non-stop for more then a decade, if a new space sci-fi show hits big (Star Trek after JJ has moved on maybe) then I could see the bringing Stargate back as a easy thing to pitch.

Sadly after the damage done by Stargate Universe (what where they thinking :( ) I don't see it coming back. Unless they ignore that, get SG-1 and Atlantis cast together to send off/give their blessing to a new cast with equally likable characters. One of the biggest flaws of Universe. No one was likable save maybe one guy and the guest stars at the end). They should have just continued with the films post SG-1/Atlantis. A game set in the world would have been great and could have been done well given the right team. It's time has passed though.

Not sure about permanently, but Universe definitely laid it to rest for a WHILE.

Decent concept for a show, but it was so bad for so long.

a FTP MMO could probably work. You could choose to be human, Jaffa, goa'uld, etc. Choose your side, earth, Lucian Alliance, Ori etc.

Once you reach max level, you can ascend and spend the rest of the game fucking with people.

A man can dream.

Was Universe worse than Atlantis?

I thought Atlantis was pretty good after the first season. Like SG-1's first season it was rough but got better with each season. Universe was bad. It could have improved but unlike SG-1 and Atlantis it had no likable characters or humor to at least keep you watching. They tried to Battlestar Galacticaize the franchise but still without the likable characters. No Admiral to inspire.

I loved Atlantis -- more than SG-1. Sure it didn't have the subtly or the narrative arcs of SG-1, but I enjoyed the characters significantly more.

The general opinion is: Yes. And there is some theories saying the producers has killed Atlantis on purpose at its 5th season to better start Universe.

So once again a Stargate thread. Yeah, this is certainly one of the greatest loss to not have a game with this IP.
Maybe, maybe one day, a publisher/developer will rise, buying a low-cost license years after the golden age of Stargate, and make a wonderfull game with it!
There is always a little hope, that's one thing O'Neal, Carter, Teal'c, Jackson, Sheppard, McKay, Teyla, Ronon, Queen and Ford have learned to us. Well, maybe not Ford and Jonas Queen.

Damage was done by Season 7 onwards of SG1. Atlantis and Universe only served as nails that were used to firmly shut the Stargate coffin. It's done for at least 10 years, if not more.

Game looks cool in stills, would love to see some footage.
