I just beat the game 100% for a second time as Max's Grannie, now onto the third! This game is seriously even more fun when you replay it! I don't know what it is about this game, but I find myself wanting to play it more than pretty much any other game right now. Even after I've already beat it, I still want to play it more instead of other games that I still need to beat.

I'm right there with you, man. This game is a blast to replay and I keep having random cravings for it from time to time. Not only that, the music has been stuck in my head ever since the game came out.

Grannie is a really great incentive to replay it. The only thing that's kind of counter-intuitive about it is that things will only be easier as a result. Not usually the kind of thing you would want as a "reward" after already beating the game. Fortunately, the level design and gameplay is just so joyful that it's still worthwhile. Having access to all the upgrades at once should open up a whole lot of shortcuts and other fun ways to manipulate expectations.. I'll start my second playthrough soon!

(post-100% completion spoilers)
The boost powerup can bypass a surprising number of levels, even ones that aren't vertical. I can only imagine that having long-jump while having boost could make the few levels its design can't break pretty easy :p I'll probably do a second playthrough in 6 months time.

For a moment, I thought there were more levels coming a DLC. Almost geeked out lol

Edit: Side question. Has anyone ever played this with the 3D off? My slider had been turned off at some point and when I opened my 3DS, my mind was seriously screwed up for a few seconds. Impossible for me to even see correctly without 3D in this game lol

This game is fun. Really, really fun. One of my favorite 3DS games, easily. The difficulty hasn't even dissuaded me from playing, and those V/G-Lands are intense.

Thank you and the programmer and composer very much.

36/40 now on my first playthrough. Really enjoyed the game for its simple platforming quality, offering some challenge without gimmick. However, it is quite vanilla in terms of design. There's quite a bit of ghosting with the 3D as well, which I haven't noticed on any other games I've played. Pretty solid.

Back into it after a few weeks break, up to the last 4 worlds now, was stuck on world 16 for awhile for some stupid reason. Gotta say am just loving this game, its freaken amazing. I dunno why but I get a very Amiga platformer feel from it, just with the music and the way the whole game plays. I can't wait to see what Renegade Kid does next on the eShop cause this is awesome.

Very nice. Now that there are decent level maps / sprite rips, I can start my bead work on this game.

Jools, you guys at Renegade Kid have done an amazing job with this and I really look forward to see what you do next on the eShop. I think just to say thanks I'm going to try and track down a copy of Moon and the first Dementium game (already have number 2).

The final power up. Gives you the ability to perform an insane vertical jump. Plus it counts as a second jump so you can hover and use it or vice verse. Saw others spoil tagging it and decided to do the same.

We plan on releasing Mutant Mudds in Europe, Australia, and even Japan. Due to the fact that we're a small company, where everyone wears many hats in order to complete the numerous games we have in development, movement has unfortunately been slower than I'd like.

However, progress is being made. When we have a release date I'll let you guys know for sure. It's going to be a little while longer though I'm afraid. Thank you for your patience.

I'm actually finding this game a little too hard. Is there any way an 'easy mode' could be patched in (i.e. spikes are not insta-death, but take away a heart, mid-level checkpoints, something to help more novice players)? I can't even get past level 1-4! I'm sure there are other people not playing the game for the very same reason.

The game is great and it's nice to see those types of retro games out there on 3DS e-shop.

Hey, didn't know you were here too, Jools!

That was a pretty nice chat we had @ iDÉAME. We posted the whole interview yesterday:

http://www.gamereactor.es/articulos/...a+jugabilidad/

It's currently in Spanish, but there are loads of cool quotes and interesting philosophy premises from Renegade Kid. Jools told us first thing he wanted was getting back to Mudds and prepare a sequel, but what I found really interesting was this 3DS FPS bit:

Quote:
"Esté o no relacionado con Dementium o Moon, seguimos pensando en hacer algo completamente nuevo y lanzar un juego de escala retail... pero en la eShop. Es una de las cosas que me encantarían: un FPS completo para la 3DS, pero lanzarlo en la eShop, quizás a 10 o 15 euros, o algo así."
Great possibility IMO. Also, it'd have touch controls as lead, then Circle Pad Pro as an option. We got your word! ^^

But complete chat is really good IMO. You can try Google Translate or just ask me :)

Straight from Jool's mouth, Mutant Mudds 2 is likely to come out in 2013. He's also working on another retro platformer "inspired" by another one of their games. Possible Moon 2D resurrection?

Also, Mutant Mudds hitting Europe in mid-late June, and a Steam and iOS ports are under heavy consideration right now. "To make more money so we can make more eShop games."

I don't know if a port of the game on a non-3D platform can really do the game justice. The 3D really is essential to the experience, imo.

I wouldn't call it essential, but it is one of the few games where the 3D truly stands out and it should be appreciated for it.
And don't forget, there are plenty of 3D monitors (even glassless ones) so steam users can enjoy the effect, too.

I guess it's nice to see the game on other platforms, but you're not going to be able to fully appreciate the game without stereoscopic 3D. The 3D is so good in Mutant Mudds. I wouldn't want to play the game in 2D. Though, if it's your only option, I guess playing it in 2D is better than not playing the game at all. It's such a great game.
