It's inaccessible on non-mobile devices, unfortunately.

I also have similar problems on my OS7 blackberry when the ads refresh. Instead of a black block I get the ads on the screen no matter where I am, flickering for every ad refresh. It makes mobile GAF really damn unpleasant because of my relatively small screen size (2.8 inches). If the ads didn't constantly refresh it'd probably solve all of these problems. Someone get on the issue. :/

Another bug I've noticed, in locked threads the bottom blue bar vanishes:

A bug (?) in subscribed threads. In secondapps, when you pushed the ">" button on the right side of the thread title, it took you to the last unread post. Here it just takes you to the last page.

Is it intentional that the pinch and pull zoom functionality that's typically so prevalent in mobile browsers has been disabled on mobile neogaf?

I've been busy the past couple of weeks so I've not had time to work on any updates. I might have some later this weekend, though. If so, here are some things I want to address:

Displaying search results by posts is something I want to add. I don't think it's terribly difficult but it might take longer than some of the other changes.

I'll fix this.

I've been thinking about using a cookie to track the last place you were before you viewed a thread, giving you the ability to go back. This will be tricky though because it has to work 100% or the Logo/back button might behave strangely. That's my plan, though.

Not sure I like this idea but I understand what you're saying. Basically adding in the Globes from the desktop version. I'll give it some more thought but regardless it would eat up more real estate, making thread listings longer (because lines would have to wrap more).

I'm not a fan of this idea.

I want to try making a few tweeks for tablets. One would be to have all the formatting buttons appear all the time without needing to click "more".

Okay, there are several bugs related to the ads. One is this periodic black space bug on iOS devices. Another, is that ads don't appear at all on Windows Phone 7. A third is that some blackbery browsers draw ads over content.

I wish I had better news here but there is literally NOTHING I can do about the ads. These issues come from the ads and I can't change those. However, there might be something Evilore could look into. Perhaps there is an option to only have image ads appear. Those dynamic text-only ads appear to be the cause of the graphical errors. I think the image only ads are fine. However, for WP7 we might need to offer them a different ad entirely. Perhaps WAP ads or something.

Ugh. Another feature I want to add. This one might require some more serious changes to the compose interface. For example, I might have to move the "Submit/Preview" buttons beneath the text area box.

Yes, this is intentional. The only things you should need to pinch/pull would be images. Just tap any photo and it'll open in a new tab where you can pinch/pull them.

Have you considered the possibility that people might want to zoom in on the text on the page?

Because really, some people do. And I'm not trying to sound like a dick here, but I find it easier on the eyes to zoom in on a wall of text a little bit.

Yeah I don't seem to have any problems with the image-only ads. If there's a way to make there only be image-only ads, that'd probably solve the issues with iOS and BB users.

The black square thing mostly happens in image ads. See my screenshot in post 904, it covers half of one.

Oh, I'm sorry your highness. I didn't know my web browsing habits needed to be dictated by you.

Simple fact of the matter for me is that the mobile web app loads much faster a looks much nicer on my screen than the desktop site. At the same time, NeoGAF is essentially a giant wall of text, and the ability to actually zoom in on that text a little bit makes the reading experience a lot easier for me when I'm trying to read at with the phone an arm's length away and not 3 inches from my face.

Increase the text size in the settings until it is a comfortable size for all your viewing distances. 130% looks fine on my tablet from just about anywhere.

I wish I didn't have to keep my browser in mobile mode to view m.gaf, almost every other mobile site I visit, which unfortunately autodetect as well, are terribly optimized for tablets, and then there's youtube which doesn't behave in any sort of logical way in its mobile version.

It can be difficult to copy the right sections of text without a zoom, so I'd certainly appreciate the option.

As Big said, just increase the text size from the preference. All i'm saying is that the very point of this whole thing has been to make it feel like an APP, not a website, so allowing zooming seems contradictory.

Is there any way to "mark all posts as read"? I can't find it if there is.

If not, could it be added, like down by "Disable Mobile Website?"

I like to clear it all when I've read what I want.

I echo this sentiment, I know you can change the global text size, but sometimes you just want to zoom in on a certain bit of text.

Does this interfere with being logged-in at all?

I routinely change from viewing NeoGAF on a laptop/desktop, and an android phone which automatically converts all the synced bookmarks into 'mobile view'. Just whenever I leave the site and come back to it, it makes me log-in again. I was wondering if it was a byproduct of switching between the different viewing modes.

Are there any plans to have the mobile view on desktops/laptops? That would be outstanding.
If not are there any browsers for desktops which can force sites to use mobile view?

For the record I 'can' zoom in and out on the mobile neogaf site? Not sure why some members seem to be having issues with that. I love it, as I can zoom the text up huge, and it goes onto a new line rather than making me scroll left and right, which is in turn great if I have the phone held far from my face. I wish all sites did that.

I am really glad to hear that I'm not the only person who sees the value in zooming.

Being able to zoom in and out when I want to on a particular bit of text on a page is a very useful thing.

It seems to be a combination of the ads and the in-page anchor (#post1234) scrolling past the ads before they can display. As a test to confirm, turn off the "jump to first unread" feature for a while and see if it stops.

ok I've been using this a lot on my iPad and it's great, good job guys.

now I dunno if it's just me, but how would people feel if the grid button were swapped
with the down arrow button. I can't explain it but if I want to scroll down to the bottom
of the page I think the down arrow button being on the outside would feel better.

I keep pressing the down arrow accidentally when I want to press the grid button,
is it just me?

The downward arrow isn't a button, it's just there to signify you can tap the entire blue bar to go down (and up if you're already at the bottom). So what you're experiencing is purely psychological.

In my experience it'd be weird for the grid menu button not to be in the corner of the bar (you can't accidentally tap to the right of it and not have it react/open).

So, about remembering my login, apparently that requires javascript, is the 3DS capable? I'd have tested it, but I haven't entered my password in months and I have to go scrounge that thing up somewhere.

•Banned usernames aren't greyed out.

•PM Box's folder "sent items" still marks the recipients as "FROM" instead of "SENT TO".

•Your own threads aren't "highlighted" with the green stripe under Subscribed threads.

•Secondapps' countdown doesn't work anymore under m.neogaf:

Hope this can help.

Update
I had a little free time today so I made some fixes/changes.
  • Fixed misspellings of "Search"
  • Sent-To folder PMs now indicate "To" instead of "From"
  • Changed shape of quick buttons for tablets
  • Increased height of compose area for tablets
  • Made compose screen buttons always visible on tablets
  • Fixed color of usernames on list of all users for Dark Theme
  • Pages can now be pinch-zoomed

For the last one, i just enabled pinch-zooming for now. Let's see how well it works. If it doesn't cause any problems then I don't have to make it a preference setting.
