But he's right, imagine what he could've done in the same car as Schumacher.

Club seats, main, grandstand parking only, etc, and must be purchased.

General Admission will use Bus Depots with 500-700 busses to the track.

About a 15-30 minute Bus Trip depending on traffic.

Formula 1 Festival on Congress.

Bicycle access, who cares.

General Admission will be $150-200 most likely.

Less than 30 days from announcing prices.

Beginning of June is when announcement will come and tickets should go on sale.
Hmm. We are staying in a hotel about 25 miles away and renting a car. With the limited parking, I wonder if they will allow the bus shuttles for everyone or just for general admission.

And those prices are way too high. For a debut race at a debut track anyway.

I don't think the prices are THAT high really, for F1 I mean. Yes it does seem a bit high compared to other sporting events in the USA but whatever.

Wondering how much the weekend passes will cost, as I assume that $150 price is just for the race. Hope they don't go and try to charge a ton more for the Friday/Saturday stuff.

Also, was there any word of support races?

I'm still trying to determine exactly where I'll be staying, but I know it won't be in Austin due to the insane prices most hotels/motels are charging.

Edit: There was rumored to be a Gilles movies, but I'm not sure what happened. Imo it would make an awesome movie: Starting with a humble beginning racing snowmobiles in small town Quebec, performing very well against F1 stars in a promo race, getting the F1 drive, etc.

Those prices are extremely high for an auto race in the United States, especially one for a series that comes here once a year until it gets bored of racing here or proves an impossible sell.

Mark my words, this race will not last if that's what they want to charge. One or two years, max. NASCAR, Rolex, ALMS and IndyCar after that.

They don't have a choice in how much they charge really, complain to Bernie about his fees.

Indy managed by charging less. If it weren't for the tire debacle and the drivers being frightened of the concrete on the oval, they'd probably still be there.

General Admission at 150 for race only is way too high if it does not include parking and other stuff based on the slight info provided. If its for the whole weekend, its more bearable.

GA should be the last resort and should be really cheap, if nothing else to get bodies in the track to make a good impression. I would imagine 50-75 is appropriate.

I am basing my impressions on other races around the world that I have attended or researched and the relative cost of motor racing and other sports events in the US.

Also, no Ross this weekend.

Quote:
Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn will not travel to the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend on doctors' advice.

Brawn saw a doctor last week after feeling unwell, and he has been advised to skip the Barcelona race.

He is expected to return to the paddock in Monte Carlo.

"We fully expect Ross to be back in Monaco," said Mercedes GP CEO Nick Fry.

Bob Bell is assuming the leadership role this weekend.

Too high. For reference, I bought the best tickets you can get (at least, the most expensive) for Melbourne next year, cost me a little over $500AU for four days.

Edit: Umm... Villeneuve to replace Massa? There's an idea.

The Chelsea sponsoring still doesn't make sense. Or is it Abramovich wanting to sponsor an F1 team and just use Chelsea as a known name?

Anyway, did my first outdoor kart race today. Qualified third!

I guess I'm just crazy then. I don't get to see much live sporting living in Alaska so $150 just for the race does seem kinda reasonable to me (considering how much Cowboy's tickets are going for on Thanksgiving...).

The only problem is that they have squandered too many points in the first few rounds. They'll rue this at the end of the season.

Alonso is keeping everyone's expectations in check.

Quote:
“We’ll see, we’ll see after the race, because we don’t know what car we have,” Alonso replied when asked what Ferrari will do if the new parts do not work as planned.

“Obviously we have new parts, but everybody has new parts. Because it’s Ferrari there are quite a lot of expectations at every race we go to – it makes it seem like only Ferrari is bringing new parts. We have made a step forward, we believe, on what we had in Bahrain, but we also know that it’s not the last step we have to do.”

The Spaniard also acknowledges that, even if a marked improvement is made this afternoon and tomorrow, Ferrari’s work is still by no means over:

“It’s a continuous work. We need to start here in Barcelona, making a step forward and trying to improve our qualifying position and race pace, but in Monaco we have to bring (more) new parts. In Canada as well.”

According to Mclaren's twitter, a 1.5 second difference between options and prime at this track. Still quite a big margin, although not the two seconds as of last year.
