This is why cultural relativism is bullshit. Some cultures have morally wrong elements (such as what's shown in the video) that need to be eradicated. The easiest way is to educated the children as they are the next generation. As time goes on, their children will get better assimilated into society.

There used to be a noticeable amount of travelers in Memphis TN. I don't know if there still is, but you used to could see them in midtown for many years.

About scrap metal, the cemetery my grandparents are buried in had every one of the tombstone vases stolen off them. They were solid brass. Shame on whoever stole them, but wtf at whoever purchased them. They had to know what they were and where they came from.

I've never heard of it happening within Irish travellers, and I don't think all gypsies in England allow it. Still, it just shows the kind of activities some of these groups are willing to allow, encourage and, if needs be, turn a blind eye to.

Yes, it is 100% rape.

We have quite a few travelers here in Belfast, and a number live in my general area. In fact, one family lived in the house I currently live in. When I first came here it was a complete shit-hole. I'm talking used tampons lying around bad.

Mine was just one of the few that travelers hadn't been moved into (housing executive seems to think that giving them a house is the best idea) and hadn't been completely torn apart for metals, such as copper. They'd tear apart the fucking walls just to get at the copper wiring. There are quite a few houses that were brand new, travelers were moved in, and they became derelict soon after. Makes the neighborhood look pretty scummy.

They can be quite frustrating. But hey, "culture"!

They are an ethnic group, just like gypsies or danes or jews.

Swedish travelers or tattare as they are called even have their own language, which is called rommani rakripa.

the difference between travelers and gypsies is that gypises are originally from india, often they have a darker complexion, but not always. They started to emigrate around 200 bc and has since then moved north west, never really integrating anywhere. Travelers on the other hand are genetically mostly of European descent. it is believed they where swedes and europeans who did not fit in to the agrarian society, and thus took on the roads never to really settle down forming their own culture of outsiders.

Here in sweden most tattare are now completely integrated. Mostly due to forced integration during the 50-60 and 70s. such as forced schooling. Ive seen estimates that there are about 100k swedes with traveler descent in sweden to today, many dont even know it. Many of the gypsies clans that came during 1700 are also mostly integrated.

Most gypsies today are new immigrants from eastern europe and the finnish kale(which is what most swedes think a gypsy is, they have very special clothes. women have hugmongus dresses, and men all the dress like elvis with a pomadours.

Again, I don't content that there aren't various Gypsy ethnicities, just that the fault lines along which they interact and are judged by wider (North-Western European) society are class based.

Their socio-economic role is what villifies them, not their ethnological distinctions.
