Problem with MotionInJoy
#1
So guys I think I got a big problem with motioninjoy. I bought a 360 wireless receiver to use it with my 360 controller. However, everytime I connect the receiver to my PC it starts installing just fine (shows 360 receiver in the status) but then suddenly it switches to "MotionInJoy XIN" blabla and it installs this instead of the 360 receiver. The receiver isn't working then, obviously.
I already uninstalled MotioninJoy with the "uninstall" prompt in the menu. But still...no luck. Do you guys have any idea? It's super annyoing! |

I swear, sometimes I hate how easy and popular PC gaming has become. :lol To OP: Any updates on the issue? Are you still getting disconnected?

MotionInJoy is awesome because - It works - It's free - It's fully customizable - It emulates the 360 controller - It allows me to use the pressure sensitive buttons on the Dualshock - It allows me to use the SixAxis motion sensors on the Dualshock |

MotioninJoy is kind of a pile. Mine works at the moment but it breaks my bluetooth dongle thing and I can't fix it. I tried uninstalling once before but the software remained in some kind of zombie undead state so I just reverted.
I'm considering a reformat and just sticking with other controllers. |

Sorry for bumping this, but since motionjoy, I have fucked up bluetooth adapter(inside laptop hardware) which I can't use and was previously perfectly working.
Now I solved that I haven't even see it in device manager, but now I have generic bluetooth adapter with error 43 and I can't get my bluetooth to work again. I checked regedit and will delete some keys there(in safe mode, can't delete normaly) that were created by motionjoy... I want my bluetooth back. I keep my laptop in pristine condition and this one thing is really pissing me off. Sorry for my rants and language but fuck motionjoy. :( my bluetooth... |

My experience with MIJ was that it was basically malware. It did not work, so I tried to get rid of it. It was very difficult. I thought I'd gotten rid of it, but it kept popping up and overriding drivers for USB controllers and stuff. I think I've finally gotten it off my system, but who knows. Horrible experience, I would advise everyone to stay away.

The problems with Motioninjoy is that when people move on to using a real 360 controller, the MIJ drivers cause conflicts preventing the person from using the 360 controller. You had to look up a tutorial on how to fully remove the MIJ drivers and from what i remember, it was annoying due to the restarts, but not anything deal breaking.

Pretty much. Never had any problems with motionjoy, was a bit tricky for me to figure out at first but after a quick google I realized how to get it working and ever since that it has worked just fine. Surprised to see so many have problems with it.

Consider yourself lucky. The problems are very widespread, and seems to affect a very large number of users. Just do a simple google search and you'll find many people that experienced the same problems.

Driver problems that some have aren't too big of an issue for me, as I bought a cheapo bluetooth adapter specifically for this and I don't plan on using a wireless controller for anything but this. Works almost perfect for me, only issues I have is sometimes it swaps the pad directions with the left stick when I start it up, but that's fixed by enabling the ps1 controller then enabling the one I need again. Also sometimes the controller doesn't function when I connect it wirelessly even though it shows it has connected, but a quick disconnect and reconnect fixes that.

I got a blue screen every time I plugged my X360 controller while having MotionJoy installed. No idea why, but I've removed it and all the remaining files and am not planning on installing it again *shrug*.
Too bad, because you know, d-pad. |

Since I installed Motioninjoy I basically can't use the wiimote on dolphin anymore,
because the standard Windows 7 drivers won't detect it anymore, even after uninstalling Motioninjoy. The dongle is still functional, because same dongle works perfectly fine on my laptop. |

Don't ask me for it though. I threw my bluetooth adapter in the garbage thinking it was defective. I only later realized it was this crapware. And by that point, I had no desire to rebuy and retry. |

Motioninjoy overwrites the drivers for a specific bluetooth dongle, so you need one specifically dedicated to it. It's just the way it works.
The alternative is, you uninstall motioninjoy and install the regular drivers each time you need your dongle for something else. Other than that it's a great program. The best gamepad manager I've found so far, as it works great with both xinput and directinput games. |

Given it lets you emulate 360 controllers it is compatible with almost everything. |

I've been messing around with MIJ recently. It is a pretty awful piece of software in my experience, but once you figure it out you can get it to do what you want it to do as long as you accept the downsides.
The biggest problem is that MIJ completely takes over whatever bluetooth adapters are installed when you install MIJ. You cannot use them for anything else other than a DS3 until you uninstall MIJ. So if you want to be able to use your DS3 and other bluetooth devices, you have to have multiple bluetooth adapters, and you have to make sure that only one is installed when you install MIJ. Then you can install the others afterwards. And to make matters worse, it is VERY finnicky when it comes to which bluetooth adapters it will work with and which it won't. It won't even recognize that my laptops internal one exists and to get it to work with my asus usb dongle I had to read a specific step by step guide. The second biggest problem is to delete it you have to uninstall DS3 tool, then open up device manager and delete the driver as well. I also restart between every step, both while installing and uninstalling, for good measure. The third biggest problem is that the software is ugly, filled with ads, non-intuitive, and very poorly documented. And the ads are not clearly demarcted, so you just have ads flowing into key software instructions and descriptions. Currently they are beta testing versions .7 and .71, their stable .65 version on 64 bit is described as amd only even though it works on intel, and the last documented version in their wiki is .5. Just an example of how poorly the software is designed - Every time I plug in my DS3 via USB it makes a new entry for it, even though I'm using the same USB port, so now I have 6 different DS3s in my list, all on the same USB port, and I have no idea which one is the one currently plugged in and which ones are just the old ones. And if I accidentally activate an old one, it screws up the drivers. But at the end of the day, after spending about an hour messing with it, my DS3 works flawlessly over bluetooth with my laptop by just pressing the ps button, and when I'm done I can tell DS3 tool to disconnect it. And it's free. ![]() That is a screenshot of their download website. Maybe it's just me, but when looking at that I think the stuff between the blue lines is a group. So the download link is above the version #. In reality of course the blue lines separate the version # and the download link. Again, this might just be a weird visual quirk that only effects me, but that confused me quite a bit and is characteristic of the weird design present throughout the program. Also that tutorial video linked is showing a older version of the software and very early on the guy making it changes MIJ's language out of english to something asian so that you no longer can read what buttons he is pushing. There are subtitles in english, but singe it is also an older version of the software the buttons aren't in the same place or called the same thing anymore.
