Lots to love about that little stick. Nice and colorful, lots of text on a commercial stick, full sanwa. Sucks for the modders that it has those little yellow switches at top, though. Hopefully more companies release smaller sticks.

Looks great!

Also, arcadeshock put up some new qanba sticks:

For those of you who have a Hori VLX Pro and modded the artwork, how hard is it to do? I'm thinking about going with a yellow theme for mine.

Yeah, still too busy for me. But it's hella rare to actually see a licensed stick where they took the effort to make things like the secondary buttons, dustcovers, turbo switches, and edging all actually fit into the color scheme with the licensed art. So kudos to Hori for that. Not half bad.

I don't know if it applies to modern Madcatz sticks but as the warranty has long gone on mine and it wasn't working anyway I pulled it apart to see if there was anything that could be done.

Some shitty soldering work in there.

Can replacement PCBs be bought or will I have to look for a control pad to butcher?

No, if you need to replace the PCB, you'll have to either use something like Toodles' Cthulhu (PS3) or harvest a PCB from a pad (MadCatz's fightpads work great for this, and the WWE ones are cheap) if you want a 360 stick.

It might be worth a shot to email MadCatz. They hooked me up with a PCB out of warranty when I asked nicely.

Cheers guys, I resoldered (almost as badly as it was before) the USB cable back on the PCB and put it all back together and it seems to be working ok except for the Xbox guide button.

It's definatley not the button lock enabled (start/select work) the 3 connectors that are attached to the other PCB, could I have them mixed up? if so any idea which way round they go?

I had some Sanwa buttons and a matching balltop on order. After paying for 3-day priority shipping, I was starting to get irritated on Day 11 when they still hadn't arrived.

I decided to go online and check the tracking information on the shipment (which I didn't realize was offered at the time of purchase). And guess what...

My order was delivered to some completely different address 6 hours from where I live.

How the FUCK does that happen? I contacted the company, and they verified that they used the correct address on the shipping label. Is the USPS being run by monkeys or something these days? Some bastard out there has my buttons and balltop, and he probably has no clue what they are or where they came from.

beatmania and pop'n controllers don't have all the directional inputs available to the player (and in fact the pop'n controller is constantly firing three directions in order to identify itself to the game). Also, the Para Para Paradise controller uses some proprietary USB interface.

But along these lines, it's not exactly Evo-caliber play, but...

Pretty simple, really... don't ride the gate. Learn how much pressure is actually needed to actuate each direction, don't grip the lever with a tight fist as to churn butter, etc. You can look up popular grip styles if you want, but it really boils down to practice.

Trying to remove the joystick on my HRAP3 and one of the JLF mounting screws just keeps spinning in place. Tried using a flat head to elevate and tried to pull towards me while screwing counter clockwise. It just spins, regardless of what direction in screwing at. Really damn irritating.

Basically LizardLick scammed a whole bunch of people out of their money and disappeared from the face of the Earth. They recommended people file chargebacks with their CCs to get their money back. That's a deathwish for any serious seller, so they're not coming back.

I'd rather not go saying they scammed anyone. They were a very reputable and reliable seller with great support. I know I and many, many other people swore by them until all activity with the site just up and stopped. I really would like to know what actually happened because I was a customer of their's for over 5 years.

Now I get my wares from paradise arcade shop and get pretty much the same service, and they're in Hawaii!

I wonder what really went on, because I got a full refund from LizardLick after an email or two. Also not exactly what you would do if you were solely looking to scam people. But at this point, they should just be administering group refunds to anyone with a pending order.

My problem was that I can't seem to get the version without the poster (via the drop-down menu). The 13,500 yen version instead of the 15,500 version with A3 poster.

Ah I see now, it just adds the one with the poster instead. Yeah I'm not sure if it's sold out and they're just adding the other version (which would be odd) or if the discount just gets applied later when you're about to checkout.

It's available for pre-order, but ebten doesn't ship outside of Japan. The only way you'll be able to get the stick is through an import site or from a contact in Japan.

Ah thanks. I'll just go for the one with the poster then. Stick is already pricey and didn't really want to pay extra shipping for a poster (hopefully it is folded and low profile).

USD,

Gonna go with CD Japan special request since they were awesome with the Gundam stick.

I'm guessing you're aware of the costs, because it will be quite expensive:

Product price: 13980 JPY = ~175 USD (Poster version: 15540 JPY = ~194 USD)
Domestic (Japan) shipping cost: 5000 JPY= ~62 USD
CDJapan service fee: 2796 JPY = ~35 USD (3108 JPY = ~39 USD)

272 USD + CDJapan shipping (295 USD + shipping)

Yeah :-(

$300-ish seems to be the going price to import sticks these days. Stick is over-priced for what it is but I have a fondness for sticks that are released for online-only games. And I really, really liked the first little Exar sanwa stick. Kinda fun, too, getting a stick from the famitsu store.

Anyways, I put in a request so we will see if CD Japan can get it. They are handling my Hori Edge sticks too. I they do get it for me and the poster comes with it I'll just donate it to somebody in the GG thread, or _dementia, if you want it since you are a GG superfan.

I just think a more dynamic style works better with Persona than a large pic of Charlie Tunoku with everyone else just stacked on the side like a pile of bricks.

Does it look amazing? No, but at least it catches the eye a bit more.

I'm working on a P3 custom now that should blow them both out of the water! :D
