I dunno. There were some nice touches in the character interactions but overall I was disappointed how little there was to talk about or learn when they had such a small number of squadmates. Kaidan and Ashley got the worst of it. why couldn't they have another 6-12 months to finish the game :'( |

Of course there is a point in playing ME3. There is so much hate for this game, but I can't see how they could have done a much better ending for it considering all the different choices they had to wrap up. If you're a fan of the series, I suggest you play and finish it even if the conclusion might not be satisfying.

It isn't even just the ending though. The really weird thing is that you can save the Rachni in Mass Effect 1, opt to do the mission that involves freeing Rachni from reaper control, and then.... ???? Not even a short in-engine scene of them helping to fight against Reapers. This extends to almost everything. Some characters you kept alive are spoken to via a hologram and then have nothing to do with the outcome.
The stupidity at the end isn't even the big problem (though hliarious in its own right), but the fact not a whole lot of what you did over the course of three games didn't matter for anything. A colossal waste of potential. |

The Dead Spaces, the Ratchet and Clanks, pretty much any shooter that has ability usage in the first place. If you expand to first-person shooting you'll run into even more games that do similar things.
That said, pretty much every TPS, even the most generic ones, will have some small distinctions from the rest. That doesn't mean they don't have very standard combat, just like ME3 does. |

This game is the first time I have been able to just say, I don't need to play it. I watched videos of it in some key parts and read both spoiler threads and I feel like I have missed nothing. I have finally realized that I don't need to play everything and need to be more selective in what I dedicate to my time. Oh and I also saved money so the ME3 money went to Diablo III.

For the (surprisingly many to me) people who think the ending is complete rubbish. Don't you at least think that this twist was brilliant:
Reapers are a measure taken by an artificial intelligence to protect organic life from permanently destroying itself. That blew my mind and although I'll agree the execution was not perfect, I'll fight anyone who says it doesn't make sense.

Go here
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthre...67193&page=287 Yes, if you are a fan of the ME series, you should buy ME3. It's a good game with some terrible moments. |

The difference is that this isn't the spoiler thread. The topic poster has obviously not played the game. |

I really didn't enjoy the game as a whole, so my vote would be no. It's not just the ending. They do resolve a couple long standing conflicts in the universe that were the highlights to me, but that wasn't worth the $40 I paid for it.
Recently, I played through ME1 again and just pretended that was the end of the series. It's relatively satisfying as long as you're willing to deny reality that more games were made. |

I'm pretty sure but I just want to verify. Kind of hard to do so over the internet. |

Core gameplay like making choices, dialogues and general role playing? Yes, they fucked it up.

Having never played a ME title (and never wanting to), I decided to wiki the ending to ME3. I really don't see what the big deal is. Why all the uproar? Seems pretty derivitive to me. Is it because no matter what you do, Shepard dies at the end which negates the entire choice mechanic of the series?

But as for your question. Not really. It's mostly that the 3 choices are kind of dumb and forced on the player. They also invalidates most of the big decisions of ME3. |

Despite my initial rants, ME3 is way better than ME2. It's an excellent game in many ways, and it feels quite varied. Lots of flaws, but it ain't no DA2.

i'm playing the game now. I guess i'm about halfway through but i'm taking it slow.
A bit like Zelda.. lots of sidequests, investing time in relationships. I have to say... aside from the truely horrible horrible first level (the demo level), the game is pretty fucking good. I still love the gameplay mechanics and, it being part 3, The Normandy really feels like home and i really liked meeting some of the characters again. And to be able to continue with your customised character from part 1 is just the greatest things since sliced bread. Some downsides so far: The art direction in characters in part 3 seems to be directed by someone who visites the gym too much... I feel like i'm watching a all american body build contest with fake boobs and plastic surgery. You have to stand at reallllly specific spots to get a button indication to speak to someone or to activate something... And what the fuck is that IGN girl doing in my Normandy????? She looks so horrible by the way :P.. (nothing against her, but what is she doing in ME3). Anyway, i love some of the environments, the atmosphere, and god, the sound and music are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. Amazing game, even with its flaws. edit: forgot about the disc shanging............... goddamn. It made me laugh, cause it happened twice in one hour...That shit needs to go. I wonder how many times i have to switch in the entire game, cause it feels pretty random.

I think it was totally worth it and I think you'd be cheating yourself if you played 1 and 2 then stopped. I had no problems with the ending. I wasn't exactly emotionally invested, though. I can't imagine what it's like to give enough of a shit to have the reaction so many people had. I don't know if I've ever felt that way about *anything*.

A glance at the Bioware forums shows there are known issues where some players (like me!) are unable to play the game without compromised features or time-consuming work around.
I wouldn't recommend anyone buy the game until the technical issues are addressed. |

OP if you enjoyed the first 2 games, you should at least finish the trilogy.
The ending may or may not sit well with you, but at least then you can join the conversation. Personally i enjoyed the game, but the ending just seemd so abrupt with how it tied things up... (But i don't know if any ending would have really been perfect) |
