K guys! Hops this game ain't dead yet!
I decided to start developing a Board Editor after I finish my finals. Here some screenshots showing some of my early work, tinkering with the fileformat. The project is still in very early stage. ![]() ![]()

Cranky. Very cranky.
Rather sarcastic to boot. (12-18-2011, 11:31 AM)

it controls very simply. it uses the d-pad and two buttons. no motion controls necessary for the game, and no minigames unless you land on a special space either (and then it's just to see if you win things or not).
however, there's a lot of stuff to understand, at least from the start. the game has an easy mode, which is all about buying property, much like monopoly, and is probably the best way to ease any non-gamer into it. the full game lets you buy stock to also help increase your net worth. there are even more things to do (like building houses), and i haven't even checked those options out yet. |

Just picked this up and so far I'm loving it. I'm sure once I lose a game I'll feel different. :P
First game I overextended myself to get total domination of a district early in the game. But it worked out in my favor and I didn't run into any trouble before I got back to the bank to level up. That district also nearly bankrupt 2 of the AI, I really thought they would end up bankrupt before I could win legit. At the end I beat the AI players by over 3x to the 2nd place person. Second game was pure luck for me. Leveled up then hit a venture square which gave me all 4 suits again. Next turn on the way to the bank I hit the arcade and got 2 sets of 777, netting me 2,000 gold. My mouth was seriously agape at that. I was so flush with cash I started buying properties from the AI so I had properties all over the board and ended up dominating 2 full districts by the end. It was a closer game at the finish since one of the AI wised up and started buying stocks in my districts, so whenever I made money, he made money. But he still came up 5k short of winning vs me. ^_____^ |

Can't comment on the online, but if you like the idea of Monopoly with at least an actual semblance of strategy and less reliance on luck to achieve victory, it's definitely worth it. Playing with people locally is a blast too.
Make no mistake though, you will be unlucky and the computer will stomp all over you for it. |

But how does it compare to other local party games? |

This is a great game guys and girls. Think of a game that teaches you how to run a business, and you will discover this game. Buy, sell, negotiate. It's like a cross between monopoly and Mario Party. IF you're a dragon quest or mario fan, you'll like it even more, because you can pick characters from both of those games. You also unlock tons of cool stuff just by playing. There's lots of randomness and chance involved, too. A true Dadaist game. BUT and there's a big butt here - there's a little bit of skill and common sense involved too. It's no different in terms of pinball. If you need to step away from the game or are too lazy to play, the game will play for you, and the AI is pretty good. You can play with one Wii mote and pass it around. This series has been around since 1991 in Japan and has finally found it's way here. I recommend it highly. LOVE IT
My name is Greg Beefy Hits Nye on facebook. Add me - mods please don't ban.. I'm just trying to make friends, that's all. Hopefully you like my mini-review. I think it's straight and to the point. Hey! I really liked Dokapon Kingdom. But I could never get any of my friends to play it with me long term. They don't have the time or patience.

Had my closest game ever today because of a few big mistakes I made.
1. Early on I started heading toward the bank when I was missing the Heart suit. Ended up putting me behind a few turns. 2. First couple turns I bought two properties from Daisy since they were in the same district and I hadn't hit any properties to buy yet. I figured it would be a good investment but I just couldn't make them pay off. But it gave Daisy a lot of capital early on and put me in dead last for a LOT of the game. 3. Late in the game after I crawled out of a hole I sold a shop to Daisy which gave her total domination of a district. I was standing on the bank at the time and I thought the target amount was only 15,000. I was at 14,600, so I figured I could sell the property, earn the extra 400, and insta-win. When that didn't happen, and I finally checked the objectives, I learned the target amount was 18,000. I was kicking myself since I sold that property for a song ~800. I even tried to buy it back from her the next turn to stop her from sweeping the game away from me, but she wanted 3200 for it. Which would have put her only a small amount away from winning. It ended up being a literal race to the finish, everyone refused to visit my properties after that (probably because the prices were ~3,000-6,000) even though they were next to 2 suits which everyone needed. But they kept hitting Daisy's properties which were right beside the bank. Ugh. It was horrible watching them give her money, her invest money in her properties, her stock rise and she just keeps going around in a small circle till she can get the target amount and hit the bank. I had to go to the other side of the board to visit my big properties, and keep hoping to hit them and invest. Both me and Daisy hit the target amount about the same time and it was a mad dash back to the bank. But I ended up beating her back to the bank by 1 turn. She stopped 1 space away from the bank when on my turn I got the exact amount I needed to hit the bank and win it all. \ ^_____^ / |

Euro release update?

So I looked on Nintendo.co.uk today and to my surprise the game is listed as coming out 28/12/2011 (thats tomorrow; games normally come out on a Friday). I would think that was a mistake but given game.co.uk are also listing that date...it may be real (we will see tomorrow).
So it might be over a week early is what I'm saying. This will do wonders for sales I'm sure :( |

What the hell is this?
I mean seriously, how was this completely under the radar, some monopoly-like clone with Mario + Dragon Quest? what the hell... no really, I guess this game has zero advertisement, I saw this only because amazon suggested it. I'm still baffled by it, how does this game exists? |

Japan is why. They are advertising it a bit at least, I saw one on Cartoon Network when my sister was watching TV. Hopefully Christmas did it well and online isn't so barren.

I finally got this game, and I've been having a blast! I was a little overwhelmed at first but got a good grasp of it by the end of the first game, but of course I didn't win. Waluigi was the winner... I've played a few games and having a lot of fun. I haven't tried online yet, but I think I'll go through tour mode first before then.

Love this game, having so much fun playing it with family and friends.
Tonights game we were playing on Castle Trodain. I was doing poorly throughout the whole game due to a couple of silly mistakes, I only had 2 decent properties. Right before a friend was about to win, I got a card which let me sell any of my shops to the bank for 5x (or 4x?). Sold it, got to the bank, got a pay package and won! Felt so awesome because I was a lost cause in dead last facing ridicule. I'll be talking about this for months to come ^^. Great game, I really like the DQ flavour. GOTY 2012 for me so far. |

Played a few online matches with randoms and made dumb mistakes by not going in order for my suits.
Is it me, or does the computer cheat MERCILESSLY at this game. I can't get more than 3rd place consistently. Do we have a friend code exchange and meet up thread for this game? If we don't, we should. I'd do it, but I'm only a junior. :\ |

1. People setting "out to lunch" mode and letting the computer play the rest of the game for them. 2. People rage quitting. When the host does that it's game over for everyone. Maybe people on NeoGAF are more mature. But I wouldn't bet money on it. :) |

I admit though I've quit a few games because I've had to sleep or just thought 20000 G was too high of a goal. For shame. |

A friend of mine is leaving the U.S. so he visited me this weekend and he had just bought this game with store credit at Gamestop. We ended up playing 3 games on Saturday and one on Sunday and they all went pretty long.
The game is A LOT of fun and quite addictive if you are playing with real life people. |
