I think he's assuming that he would live to see humanity advance to a point where inter-stellar space travel is possible.

Even if you can only get into a modest space ship before you have to leave Earth, that at least leaves you with the possibility of sitting around in that space ship exploring the galaxy for thousands (or millions) of years.

Hell, if I had immortality that's probably one of the things I would eventually do. Of course accurate teleportation could make that easy as hell if I could just throw on a space suit.

I want to say telekinesis, but I'm concerned that the power is too "glass cannon." I could be killed in a lapse of concentration, and most likely will be vulnerable while sleeping, or even sleep deprived.

If I somehow could get passive invulnerability, or train myself to keep a protective bubble around myself at all times subconsciously, I'd say telekinesis.

The current problem with interstellar travel is the time-factor, I don't need life-support... I can't die and I can slowly reach other star systems. If humans devised a way to travel even just 1/10th the speed of light I'd visit all the neighboring star systems within 1 million years... just a drop in the bucket.

Though it sprang up more in later pages, Telekinesis is still underrepresented. Why pick a hammer instead of the whole damn tool box. One ability to rule them all:

"I want to fly"...obviously this is easily accomplished with TK.

"Super Strength"...TK gives you that plus the advantage of not having to actually touch anything. But if you're the tactile type, then go ahead and channel your TK through your body to lift and smash things physically.

"Super Speed"...you can move yourself as fast as you want. It's also not just limited to yourself. *sidebar* One cool moment from X:Men Evolution, someone throwing Colossus towards a Sentinel, and Jean Grey telekinectically accelerates him, turning him into a speeding bullet for maximum effect

"Invisibility"...Just bend the light around you.

"Shapeshifting"...for purposes of passive deception, again, manipulate the light around you to change your appearance. For added tangible deception, like a woman's handshake, manipulate the air molecules directly around your hand to simulate a woman's softer touch, and airglove of sorts. Or to really do it straight up, manipulate your own body's molecular structure, even adding mass from surroundings for greater size or greater density. Basically Apocalypse style instead of just Mystique style

"ENERGY Projection"....blast beams of pure telekinetic force. Also great because it's not lightning based or plasma based, etc, so less vulnerability to immunities

"Walk through walls"... Plenty of TK based molecular phasing already given

"Healing/Regeneration"... Internal molecular control, patch wounds, etc

"Defense"...TK shields/bubbles, protective atmospheric sheaths for underwater or outer space, TK constructs

"Senses"...perceive the world as energetic particles. Feel shifts/movements around you, intercept objects thrown your way, feel when someone is lying, heart rate, etc

"Temperature/Weather Control"...speed molecules up=heat, slow molecules down=cold. Manipulate water molecules for rain, fog, humidity, dust for electricity/lightning

"Teleportation"...a function of moving molecules, just much much faster

"Power mimicry"...would take a lot of skill but essentially you could change your genetic makeup to change/add that of the intended source.

You could also do that to NEGATE someone's powers as well(assuming it's physiology based, and not externally sourced)

"Endurance"...negate the effects of lactic acid buildup in the muscles, repair microtears, etc

PLUS other stuff like transmutation of matter from one substance to another.

Telepathy is crazy versatile too...traveling vast distances, to inhospitable places, via Astral form projection for instance. Instant memory recall, instant download of memories/knowledge from one mind to another, instant language aptitude, "time" compression allowing telepathic conversations to happen almost instantly, or "mental detention" at a million to one time ratio.

Teamwork...hypernetworking. Instant and silent communication, awareness of everyone's position (no friendly fire, tripping over each other, etc) for a well oiled battle machine. Also, stimulate everyone's brain/nervous system for peak reflexes, adrenaline output, pain suppression and fatigue suppression.
