So I have two theories:
1) Barney's wedding is further down in the future and not supposed to be part of this season/year of the story telling. I just don't understand how there will be a wedding next episode, unless... 2) Barney proposes to his girlfriend as a desperate measure to get her to stop stripping, wants to have the marriage immediately, and isn't sure if he's making the right move or not. Barney's actions of rushing a wedding brings out his entire family to the wedding, and his dad decides to bring Barney's half-sister with him to introduce them...which is where Ted meets her. |

This season had to have the most ridiculous schedule that I have ever seen. I think we got 1 new episode last week, a break before that, like 1-2 episodes before that, and a month break before that. And now the season finale next week? There's absolutely no build up to it with these breaks.

I doubt they are flash fowarding a year ahead. They can simply flash foward to September 2012 which is when the wedding is and then start next season at the end of the wedding or the day after.

but we need more time spent on robin and ted. Just to make it 100% clear to the audience that they are not going to be together (an outcome that was known early on in the series).

Beat EviLore at pool, but also called an innocent kid a piece of shit. Who can say which makes the man?

Those 5 have been the entire show since the beginning. Having one leave would be worse than Steve Carrell leaving the Office in my opinion, and I'd hope that HIMYM has more integrity than that show.

She's been mentioned explicitly but never seen, is going to school in the city (and thus would probably be rooming with someone, like the girl Ted dated who was the mothers' roommate), and she'd obviously be likely to be at Barney's wedding.

And in terms of writing, the wife needs to be of importance to the audience, and that's a very cheap way to achieve that. Seems like a no brainer.

The only reason I'm not convinced it's Robin is because that was everyone's first guess when we saw the wedding scene.
I still think that they'll not make it easy for us and have Barney with either Robin or Quinn, and then have him bail out before tying the knot for someone else. |

I will be pissed if it's anyone but Quinn. The writers have thrown so many "twists" this season that I'm really sick of them. Also, if it's someone else (say Robin) we'll just spend the entire next season wondering how Barney ends it with Quinn and gets with Robin instead of letting it happen naturally. Actually the entire idea of a flashforward is terrible.

Its not Quinn. They are going to pull a reverse Stella and have Barney leave her at the alter for Robin with sappy ass music playing in the background.
I wish they would surprise me, but I doubt they will. Or they could fuck with me, and have it be a dream sequence right before Barney says I do to Quinn. Also, the baby will be fine. Why did they even put that in as a cliffhanger? |
