About to head to bed because its quite late here, but I offered to help (translation: complete entirely) a friend whose been sidetracked with work with their essay. Part of the reason was the topic itself; it has long interested me.

Just downloaded some books via Amazon Kindle and will speed read the crap out of them until I see words at the bottom of my glass of water. It's a challenge that I've always wanted to do; complete a difficult essay that requires a lot of reading in 24 hours. Having said that, I'd like some feedback of anyone whose written on this topic to offer me some advice and tips.

In all fairness, that's probably a very easy topic to write an essay on. No shortage of of books/articles covering it.

Sounds horrible to me. I hate history with a passion. I hate writing essays as well. It just feels like regurgitation busy work to me.

When I have to write an essay, it takes me like a week. Good luck, though. And tell your friend to start doing his own work from now on.

Is it straight history, or do you need to add in some analysis too?

I got one due on Wednesday that I won't start until tomorrow. Another one on Friday, too. Had one due today that I did last night. It's just the way some of us work.

When I was in school I could knock out 15 page essays in one day or night

20+ pagers I tried to do over 3 nights to save my sanity

Really depends on how long the paper is. What I usually do is read whatever the required text is ahead of time and save the essay on the last night, so next time that might be easier if you're going to write something big at the last minute.
Anyway, hope it's something under 10 pages. I recently had to write up a 10 page paper along with a presentation and I managed to get it done within a day. Not sure if I could have if it were any longer though :x

Ya. In English the biggest paper I had to ever write was 12 pages. Took a political science course in second year and the prof wanted 25+ pages. Lets just say I never took a political science course again and stuck with my English. 25 pages for the topics we were giving is just fucking stupid.

I've only ever had to write 15 pages maximum in my life, and that was only on one occasion for a term paper. I handed in 12 pages and still managed to get an A in the course.
