amazes me that people don't realise that this game wasn't finished, it's like people have be trained by the PR machine to expect games in development to look like multimillion dollar blockbusters throughout their entire development- i wouldn't be suprised if that Jade model is mostly a placeholder. |

This is not pictures representing a final product or next gen hardware. This is without doubt just a "this is our vision" level to show off mechanics, art style and how they are approaching the entire project. Edit: Ancel does want the game to be made for the upcoming consoles, because his vision for the game was not something the current machines were relly capable of pulling off, something he probably found out after doing these pre-production areas and testing the limits of the engine/hardware. Then Ancel went on to Rayman Origins and BG&E2 got put on hold, and I doubt it will enter actual production ever.

If Nintendo & Ubisoft aren't idiots, they should make it a WiiU (timed) exclusive. But with the more cartoony design like BG&E1 and the intial fmv trailer for part2.
The pros clearly outweigh the cons: (+) a potentially great title to add their release window catalog for Nintendo & a token title to show the enthusiast demographic that they take them seriously (+) huge exposure due to being in the WiiU's release line-up for Ubisoft and potentially a move from being a niche franchise to being more mainstream_y. (o) potential marginalization by Nintendo's first party software (though Ubi never really had a problem with that) (-)lack of sales in the (over-saturated, slowing down) ps360 market I'd be sure as hell considering a WiiU for BG&E2. |

2. They cannot get it ready for Wii U launch as there's nobody really working on it. So it's probably not coming at Wii U launch. Perhaps it'll come later in case the PS4/720 version is greenlit, but who knows whether that'll ever happen. But even then, we'll need to see whether 3rd parties will care to downport PS4/720 titles. |

okay :( But that course of action would be great to revive such a great franchise without too much risk (and maybe even kick-starting it into mainstream territory), wouldn't it? Maybe it'll somehow make either the PS4 or 720 launch. |

There's no way they would make launch of either console right now. Ancel is on Rayman Legends which is coming this fall, and if he started work immediately afterwards on this, it would still only give him eight to ten months to make the game. Something that would be impossible to pull off since Ancel prefers to work in very small teams and not massive 300 man big teams.

Of course, given how old these screenshots are it is certainly possible that much of the game has changed in the meantime.

Game never entered production, so we will never know. I figure that if Ubisoft returns to this project next year, it will be redone from the ground up and by then Ancel probably has a different visual style in mind.

Ok, I'm here now, had to work. I'm with the guys who feel that the art style isn't as great as the one in the first game, and even though Jade has still a little cartoony touch, I would like her and the surroundings to be more "cartoonized". I like it, however, that she looks like the "Beta" Jade in this version.
Who knows how much they changed already in these 3 years... |

This is not pictures of a "next gen" game. This is pre-production shots from a test-level/vertical slice of BG&E2 that is years old (2009 to be precise) and based off of current hardware (360 and PS3).
This is not pictures representing a final product or next gen hardware. This is without doubt just a "this is our vision" level to show off mechanics, art style and how they are approaching the entire project. |

I like the new setting very much, *IF* they can mantain a fantasy element to it.
As i said in the other thread, it's not like the first one was incredibly original and creative either on this front, so if they strike a good balance between realism and fantasy, it'll rock. I always wanted a game set in India, so i'm a happy guy. Put some mild sci fi elements, put the animal people back in and you've got yourself a winner. On the other hand, Jade looks fucking weird in those pics and i think they should drop the staff, it's too long and not very dynamic for parkour, get her a shorter weapon, it looks goofy. |
