3
5 6 1 2 4 The first 3 are kinda interchangeable for me. 3 had some bad acting but was also the most entertaining. I admit I haven't watched 4 in many years but it was pretty boring/terrible from what I remember. 2 had the most cringe-worthy moments but at least it had a cool light saber battle. |

I dont understand how anyone can put anything but Episode 1 on the bottom, that movie is complete crap except for the final 30 minutes.
6 - Luke and Vader still the most powerful scene in the entire series, I can live with Ewoks for that. 5 4 3 2 1 Huh look at that. |

1) Empire Strikes Back is my number one, it has the best pacing, story and memorable moments. 5*
2) Revenge of the Sith - I actually think despite some flaws (mainly an over reliance on CGI in areas where it was not nessssary) it is a pretty solid movie, had some good scenes and was good to see the formation of the empire. 4* 3) Return of the Jedi - Had some good moments, but it had far too many generic plot elements. 3* 4) A New Hope - I was torn between this and Return of the Jedi for my 3rd place, suffers the same plot problems. 3* 5) Attack of the Clones and The Phantom Menace are joint last because they are pretty poor apart from the odd scene. 2* People will probably think I'm mad for my ratings, but I really think people love the original trilogy just for the sake of loving it as well as hating the new trilogy unfairly. |

Revenge of the Sith was shit. It only seemed "good" because people compared it to the two other prequels. Its every bit as "good" as a "good" console Sonic games post 1994. "Decent" film at best, "crap" compared to what made us so into the franchise in the first place.

EDIT. I've also decided that TPM's worst crime was being boring (it has other problems too). AOTC is a fucking trainwreck. Sure the arena battle is cool, but everything else was awful.....except the sonic mine sound effect. I want an alarm that sounds like that.

4 6 (infinite space) 1 3 2 1 is the most enjoyable of the prequels because it's hard to totally hate Quigon, kid Vader is slightly less painful to watch than emo Vader (or at least easier to ignore), and because when you watch it you can imagine that, even though it sucks, maybe there is something that could be salvaged. Maybe it's not all ruined forever. When you watch the sequels, there is no more room for imagination. You know for a fact it is ruined, and that makes it harder to watch. |

V
IV VI I III II As much as I was the start of the bad shit, it wasn't nearly as bad as III was. Then again, III might just be the second worst only because so many people acted like it was a return to classic Star Wars quality.

Thought I posted this before, must have been in the other thread.
1. Episode V 2. Episode IV 3. Episode III 4. Episode VI 5. Episode II 6. Episode I I used to put Phantom Menace ahead of Attack of the Clones, but changed after I saw the 3D re-release. Jake Lloyd's acting was so fucking terrible and it was overall boring as shit. The plot didn't go anywhere. At least Attack of the Clones, despite its terrible middle section with Padme and Anakin, had some awesome action scenes and set pieces and moved the plot along. |

This is an interesting article on what order you should watch the movies:

Also, one minute joining the dark side to save his wife, next minute, killing small children and don't get me started on Captain "I-give-up-for-no-apparent-reason" Yoda. My ranking is 5 4 6 2 1 3 I think Sith is the worst of all of them because of the wasted opportunity. In capable hands, it could have easily been the best of all the Stars Wars because of the story it was attempting to tell. In George Lucas' hands, however, it was an abject failure. |

Empire was a "capable" follow up. Otherwise I agree completely.

I'll have to think for a bit on my actual ranking order, but one thing I will say is that Return of the Jedi is a lot damn worse than most people remember. Ewoks were Jar-Jar a decade and a half before Jar-Jar, and Chewbacca does a TARZAN YELL for god's sake.

The prequels were a wasted opportunity. In the specific case of Sith though, I don't see how they could have turned out a quality product considering the casting and story of EP1 and EP2. By that point nobody gave a shit about any of the characters. It could have clearly been better, but in no way would it have been comparable to any of the originals.
