Rob Ford's platform for his re-election campaign unveiled. Garbage collection privatized east of Yonge. lulz

Quote:
Rob Ford says he won't outsource garbage collection in the east end of the city until 2014 "when [he] gets re-elected," breaking one of his 2010 election promises. Speaking on his weekly radio show, Ford said he plans to campaign on privatized services east of Yonge during the next election, which he is apparently confident he will win. Ford managed to have collection west of Yonge privatized in 2011.

When I read about it, I thought it was going to be a glorified food court. And I was right, but not as negatively as I had initially put it.

It's actually awesome eating with stainless steel utensils instead of shitty plastic ones. Same with the plates. Only problem I have is it's hard to find seats on weekends, but that's pretty much how it's been since it opened, even before in the old food court.

It's just a food court, but it's a nice food court. The amount of people I usually find in there though make it seem like some sort of under sized high school cafeteria and people are still pigs in food courts. :P

Considering I eat there at least three times a week, it's nice that it has a bit better food than the average food court. Finding a seat can be difficult if you aren't early (or late) enough, but it's way better than it was at the old one.

Was it all minimal house and techno music? I like the atmosphere at those beach parties but the music is so boring on the times I went.

I wish they would play more music like your username!

Love the gardens there, the current catering uses flowers, fruits/veg and honey harvested there for their food.

Planning to go this weekend with an out of town bridesmaid so she can see the venue.

It was fairly minimal at the beginning, then got heavier/dirtier as the night progressed. It is gonna be every sunday - weather permitting - should check one or two out.

Toronto in the 70s

Saw this on Twitter. You need to start at page 190 and it goes to page 216. Interesting read and some great pics. I don't think this will go against Gaf's scan policy. I'll remove it otherwise. I don't think you can pick up this issue anymore.

The 407 East extension was finally approved today and it'll be owned by the Ontario Government and should be open to Harmony in Oshawa by the end of 2015. They also approved the North-South link connecting the 407 to the 401 along a route east of Lake Ridge in Whitby. There's also more that's supposed to take it even further East by the end of 2020. How long after it's built will Hudak start the pressure to sell it?

Exactly what I was thinking. Although I avoid all malls at any cost. It would take an emergency to force myself to go to one.

I have to quote this one more time because I just realized we are looking at the city half built *right now*

Here is a list of the tallest skyscrapers in Toronto:

http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?cityID=12

Any building with a blue or green dot next to it is either under construction now or proposed and waiting to start construction.
It looks like about 80% of that list is being built right now which is really crazy to think about.
