I just finished it, and I couldn't believe how good it is. How precise it was for a Dark Tower novel, or how polished it was.

I was really pleasantly surprised how much the actual "Wind Through the Keyhole" story took up the majority of the novel. I also enjoyed how the "fairytale" ended up tying into the main storyline for the series, and ended up being more of a history rather than just a tale.

Anyone else on Dark Tower-GAF read it?

I would be really interested in hearing if anyone else agrees with me.

I'm not sure I'd say it was the best, better than books 5-7 though. Overall a really nice, quickly return to the dark tower books.

Much better than the bad 6, but definitely not as good as number 5 or most of 7. Are you nuts? It was a Dark Tower book in name only.

Yeah, I actually have it on Kindle, but my wife has basically stolen my Kindle for the last 2 months. Maybe I'll get a copy from the library...

What? The resolution happens at the end of The Dark Tower. This is a side story.

For the record, I love the ending of book 7.

Nope. Just more world building in the style of The Wizard and Glass.

Being better than The Wizard and Glass is hard to say, but I can at least confidently assert that it is better written (as far as precision and plot organization goes).

But yeah, The Wasteland was pretty great too.

Finished it a couple nights ago.

I hope he does more like it. I don't need more Roland, Susannah, Eddie, Jake and Oy. But I could definitely use more stories in this world, say thankya.

I thought Dark Tower didn't end. Like, there were some loose ends tied up, some pretty conclusive shit, but the story still continues. Right?

I just finished this, and thought it was wonderful. Such a great, meaningful addition to the series, and a welcome return to this incredible world King created.

The story-within-a-story structure really highlighted just how talented King is at masterfully creating distinction in language and cadence. The transitions from Roland's ka-tet, to the story Roland tells, to the story within a story are completely identifiable independently, yet all fit the wider universe too.
