Just finish watching drive for the first time. Awesome movie, so much style. Really wanted to see this in the movie when it came out but just never made time to go and see it. When or if they decide to make drive 2 i'm definitely going to go see it the movie theatre.

Checked the whatsnew site but there isn't anything listed. I assume there will be a fairly large update in June due to the number of movies that will expire on June 1st.

Edit: NVM just checked again and there are some things listed for June 1st, nothing I'm interested in though.

All movies have to be funny or exciting, otherwise they are bad. Glad everyone is finally in agreement over this issue.

I'm not saying that. I can appreciate the movie for being an emotional achievement of excellence.
However, personally, I couldn't stand it. No resolution, no character building. It was basically just a man getting shit on by life for an hour and a half.
It doesn't have to have a happy ending, but it doesn't have an ending at all.

Btw. If you liked Ryan gosling in drive he's also really good in half Nelson.

I searched this topic for Mirikitani, but if you haven't seen it, you should check the 2006 film "The Cats of Mirikitani" on Netflix Stream. A sweet documentary about this lady Linda who strikes up a friendly with some 80-some year old Japanese American artist who is homeless and has quite a difficult past. The movie is very endearing, and worth checking out.

I saw Drive yesterday. It was surprisingly dark and violent. The first half of the movie paints Ryan Gosling's character as a stoic calm guy but the second half gets crazy. I got scared when he killed the dude with the shotgun. From then on out he became a psychopathic killer. The elevator scene was pretty bad ass if a bit overdone. I suppose it was good; not quite what I expected, but still good. The font title is really misleading in that sense. I really loved the shot decisions that they make in this movie as well as the costume designs and the settings.

I Melt With You is on instant streaming. I saw it awhile back, and I felt really mixed about it. I'm thinking of giving it another shot.

You'll either think it's brilliant and profound or melodramatic and silly. Either way, it's a very bleak movie. Watch it with a clear head and when you're not feeling depressed.

Recently I watched Arrested Development and the three seasons of Breaking Bad and loved them. Hopefully they get S4 of BB up relatively soon after it comes out of video.
Arrested Development was god-tier, but I had seen a couple episodes when they first aired and expected as much. The last couple episodes were kinda weak, when they were aware they were being canceled, but it's hard for every episode out of that many to be spectacular.

No clue what I am going to watch next. I always turn on Netflix with a buddy and we end up watching Anuvahood over and over again. I don't know how many times I have watched it in the past two months but it is a lot. Not enough to understand everything Tyrone says though. Next Hype!

Haha, I agree. Rage Italic makes me think of Vice City always. It's one of my few gripes with Drive, the movie did not fit the title font at all. Too much grit and not enough neon.

netflix feels like hbo for the internet for some reason. premium price and good content. With the additions of the exclusive shows and movies, this can very well be just like it.

although amazon is signing every studio in the world as of late. 80 dollars a year is too fucking steep even with two day shipping.

I remember this movie, never saw it but do not remember this. On IMDB it does list Wes Craven as director on the movies page but does not list the movie under Wes Craven's page.

Just finishing watching Drive as well. A lot of style, to be sure, but that's all it's selling. The story was so cliche and predictable. Under ten minutes of driving and an hour and a half of husbandry. Overall I enjoyed it, but I see this and a lot of other current movies lacking anything "classic" about them. I doubt we'll point to this movie in twenty years and say it highlighted anything about cinema that had not already been done. The story was certainly done a million times already.

Is there anything substantial on Amazon Prime that isn't on Netflix? I honestly don't know very many people who use it. They need to make it available on iOS and all gaming consoles.

My Problem with PIV is that most of the titles I tried didn't have subtitles, but other than that I do think they have a pretty good selection (and I can see them catching up to Netflix rather soon).

All the Presidents Men (one of my favorites; it was removed from Netflix a while ago and I wanted to watch it again)
The Prince and Me was actually quite good, in my opinion and I like Julia Stiles usually
I liked the Shooter with Marky Mark
Mission Impossible 3 (best one in my opinion)
Clueless is always fun
Mean Girls is a fun watch also
The Truman Show
Clue
Beverly Hills Cop
Freedom Writers is quite good
Miss Congeniality
Braveheart
Vanilla Sky
Coming to America (I love this movie)
Coneheads
Star Trek: Insurrection
Ninja Turtles 2 is better than the Next Mutation crap

I guess if you like those or are interested in them is up to you.

Vampire Diaries is surprisingly good. I know a lot of us probably steered clear due to the name alone (ugh) and it being a CW show. Once they stop actually filming scenes of them writing in their diaries (the irony) is when the show began to suck me in (no pun intended). Just finished all of Season 1 over the Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks to whomever recommended it awhile back.

There's still no word available on HD video streaming, but Netflix has just released version 2.2 of its app for iPhones and iPads. While the front end got tablet friendly in December and received a Retina Display makeover in March, this version brings a new player UI to all iOS devices. The new scrub bar seems much easier to reach and control now, while the button for subtitles has a received a tweak reminiscent of the new look recently pushed to Netflix's web based player. Also under that button is a new option allowing for alternate language soundtracks (where available), while the changelog goes on to mention "general performance improvements". Not documented but present is the addition of thumbnails in that scrub bar, easier access to "do not share" for Facebook-connected members and the ability to restrict streaming to WiFi-only in the settings. The new version is shown above, check after the break for a grab of the old player to see the difference. As always, the latest update can be found in the app store, we'll let you know if we hear of any extra details or changes on other platforms.

Netflix announced Monday the expansion of its Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) content and coverage in Canada, tapping into a large fan base.

Canadian Netflix subscribers will now have the opportunity to watch a wide variety of recent and classic UFC events, highlights series, and the popular reality television show "The Ultimate Fighter," on the company’s streaming service.

UFC is a universally recognized event, and the world’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organization, producing more than 30 live events each year.

UFC is also the largest Pay-Per-View event provider in the world. Its programming is broadcast in over 149 countries and territories to nearly one billion homes worldwide.

"Canada has a long tradition of support for MMA and we've been working with the UFC for some time to bring their world leading premium content to Netflix," said Netflix’s vice president of content acquisition, Jason Ropell.

"We're thrilled to be able to give Canadian members a much deeper offering of UFC content ranging from classic fights, and popular compilations, to recent events, some as recent as 90 days following their PPV airing."

The new content will include a selection of fights and shows featuring some of the sports' biggest names such as Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones and Canadians Mark Hominick, Rory MacDonald and Sam Stout.

The mixed martial arts world is certainly attracting viewers, as Canadian producer and distributor of home entertainment content Digital Shelf Space Corp. (CVE:DSS) reported earlier this month that its GSP RUSHFIT DVD series reached the No. 2 spot on Amazon.com’s exercise and fitness top rated product list.

The company’s home workout GSP RUSHFIT series, which features Mixed Martial Arts welterweight world champion George St- Pierre, has been listed on Amazon.com for less than five months.

The DVD fitness series has exploded in popularity since launching in December 2010, with international distribution taking off.

Netflix said that popular UFC compilation series will also be added to its coverage, including selections from UFC Best Of, Ultimate KO, 100 Greatest Moments, Ultimate Heavyweights, and the documentary Bad Blood.

As the end result of a class-action privacy lawsuit, Netflix has agreed to delete former users' video history and queue data within one year of the customer's cancellation of service.

"Today's filing is part of the process of effectuating the settlement that was announced in February," Netflix spokesman Joris Evers said in a statement.

Filed last year in San Francisco federal court, the lawsuit accused Netflix of violating the 1988 Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), which prohibits video rental outlets from sharing customers' rental history without permission. The company has more than 23 million U.S. streaming users, in addition to those who receive by-mail DVDs.

Plaintiffs in the case claimed that the company kept comprehensive digital records of every rental and streaming order from all customers long after they abandoned Netflix.

I need to get some editing tools because I really want to gif the scene of the factory boss sliding down the stairs during that fight.

Also, UFC is going to have a Ron of stuff on Canadian Netflix? Wish they added it here too. Or I've never noticed any of the compilations or old fights on there.

Does not compute.

On the other hand, I envy you for experiencing them for the first time. Just purely jaw-dropping physicality, creativity, and insane complexity on display. They are simply god-tier from Hong Kong's golden era, and supplements why Jackie, Sammo, and Yuen Biao together are legendary.
