christ i picked the right tourney to go to for my first. Not sure what to talk about, but the highlight for me was Marvel top 8. Krone's premature pop off was too damn funny.

That 6-0 finals was heartbreaking, but Brightside isn't taking that bad. He's a pretty chill guy and he put down a bunch of killers with a bunch of clutch moments, so whatever. That's his team and that team ran into ChrisG, we've seen it happen. We've seen NYC not adjust at all to that for a long time. It's crazy stuff. Though Brightside is bright...ChrisG's the genius and he's got a team that you have to fucking counter-pick or have nerves of steel/luck or die. I almost wanna peg him for Evo champ, but smart players should be developing their counterpicks. He's the target. Maybe he's working on his own alternate teams. Still, seen plenty of people get annoyed by that spider-man, myself included, but I had no idea it was gonna go over like that in this bracket.

And yeah, those Marvel finals-- people rushing the stage, girls getting hurt, people getting escorted out, threats of violence...FUCKIN' MARVEL BABY.

I don't know if you guys could see/hear that one guy in the background during Marvel finals (who was at it all weekend yelling "SUCK THE DICK" and "PUT THAT FOOT IN THAT PUSSY"), but the irony of it is that I think that's Krone's hype man. yeah, if you guys love watching streams regularly and you have a major tourney within 5, 6, 7 hours of you, just make the damn trip, it's worth it. shit is 100x more hype in person, i thought. 99% of everyone is friendly, even the top players I chatted with. Everyone's just there to play, get hype, and theory fight all day. People really do go nuts over all these games and it's all in the name of hype and fun (except SFxT, that grand finals was deaaad. I just watched so I could get a clear pic of someone winning a gauntlet and because I needed a place to sit and drink my morning coffee.)

alright just got done watching the finals for marvel. congrats spidy you are in the grand finals of a major!



against chris g's morrigan though.



i knew the finals would go that way though. spidy has great mobility and once he gets in you can't keep him out for the most part. problem is morrigan has better mobility and her zoning is way better than spidermans.

Ah, I mean the triple arrow assist timed to eat Doom standing across the screen snapping his fingers. That's when he should be navigating his way through Ikaruga and keeping Morri on the run. Way easier said than done. Bad ass run and he's made a name for himself and the character. You can tell he was a little shook though, missed BnB's and stopped stinging.

it won't work unless hawk has an assist that will eat the fireballs morrigan is raining down on him. chris g is smart enough to know not to stand in front of doom when calling missiles against a character like hawkeye. also people need to know that gimlet can't punish morrigans fireballs unless you do it right as she does them. she has very, very little recovery on her fireballs so she will block it unless you are on point with them. you can also forget about punishing her while she is in flight mode since she can unfly before gimlet comes close to her. morrigan is S tier in her ability to be safe in almost everything she does. which is why i'm happy she is dominating things right now. for the most part the S tier teleport characters had a monopoly on being safe on almost everything and now that a zoner gets the same treatment everybody is calling for nerfs. -__- i hate when people just say to use vajra or skrull against chris g. its kinda disrespectful to chris g as if saying he isn't good enough to come up with counter measures. he has gotten beat by that stuff before but it was also kinda early into his morrigan play so there were going to be things he had not encountered before and got blown up. i doubt he will have the same kinda problems he had early on. i will be rooting for chris g at evo.

Awesome moment, but it wasn't that bad. He sat down before the ultra animation was done, and he took the loss well. Standing up and taking himself out of the game was a HUGE mistake, but it wasn't like he was walking off the stage or anything.

I think she is figured out but you still have to outplay the player using her.

Skrull and Vajra are legit against his combination but no one is saying those characters are easy wins against ChrisG. You still have to out play him or get lucky or be extremely patient in the match ups. Skrull is super risky in everything he does, he misses something it's tough luck for him. You also have to be precise with calling Vajra, he can't afford to eat too many projectiles before dying. Morrigan has ways to deal with it and ChrisG knows it, so he's going to be playing extra careful which he did against Zeus although he still got his Morrigan clipped a few too many times. I say the same for Vergil, he is super exposed at his head when he turns on Spiral Sword where the fireballs and missiles always seem to hit him out of the hyper.

The only way to dismantle his team is to take out Doom. I had Hidden Missiles as the best assist in the game followed by Tatsu and then Drones. It's not just Morrigan + Doom, it's Zero + Doom, Magneto + Doom and a bunch of other characters. People aren't going to jump on the Morrigan bandwagon but they will keep jumping on Doom. Flooding the screen with off screen hit boxes that combo break you is super dumb. It's not zoning, it's spamming. A lot of characters couldn't even deal with Akuma spamming Tatsu + Missiles.

How wouldn't it? It's 2 guys with the same moves vs each other. Ryu vs Ryu is balanced as well. I hope for a pure shoto fighter one day, heh.

On the surface, yeah, but the approach angles and 'supers' make them fairly different. Like, at first I thought Dive was undeniably better than Kick but as the tournament went on, he just looked different - better meter building, more of a counterattacker, etc. Mr. N seemed clearly better than both but Kick -- or maybe the guys playing Kick -- were using his jump height and angles against him as they went underneath. I dunno, maybe it's not a very impressive accomplishment with only four guys + one oddball, but usually in situations like that I would expect everyone to pick the factually superior guy. There didn't seem to be one there. If they added 3 or 4 more characters with unique angles and assets, that could be a legit game.

Anyway, I'm probably looking way too deeply into divekick, heh.
