Nice thing about Port Crystals is that escort missions cease to be a problem.
Oh and spring water is AWESOME. Buy a ton of empty flasks and fill them up at healing spring. Distribute to entire party. Every time somebody uses one(and they will when they're in bad shape) the other three characters get a bit of healing as well.

Probably the must fun I've ever had playing a ranged class has been in this game. Releasing a Dire Arrow right as it reaches full charge for that slow-mo effect and massive damage makes picking off small enemies so satisfying.
EDIT: Just spent 7,000 whatever-points to get Leg Strength, lets me walk one weight class faster. So nice to actually be able to move even when I'm carrying a ton of stuff.

Invest in an enchanted elemental weapon/shiled as well as a mage's staff that works with MK's. Levitation is always useful as well as a basic healing spell or one of the higher damaging electrical spells. I wouldn't spend to much on leveling up skills for your staff, just pick the few that suit you and level up the one that makes your bolts more effective, invest in Magick Cannon and Great Cannon (this spell is a monster) Magic shield counters are very very effective, they each have different strengths and effects and work mostly during a perfect parry/block. Just go with the flow and you'll be on your way to being an unstoppable wrecking machine. |

Only played a few hours up to the escort mission to Gran Soren and this game is pretty cool. I arrived at the capital with the sun setting down and was kinda afraid to be rushed by night creatures before making it to the walls but everything went fine. The world is really vibrant with life, the combat feels like it's going to be interesting for some time with the different classes and stuff. Next to this, the shitty menus and by the books quest structure is nothing to bear with.
Found a few quests in Soren (going to get that magic book from thieves as a pawn knows where it is) but I still have the "kill 8 spiders in the witch forest". Will I have to backtrack through the mountain pass to find this place or is it near Soren? Strider = Boss class. Can't wait to try out the smoke bomb move I just found. Also, is it usefull to equip my mage pawn (who's getting quite some use btw, thanks to his healing methinks) with the light and dark weapon buffs spells that early in the game? Wanted to switch things up a little bit as I have a player pawn with the fire buff already. |

That quest was pretty damn rough. Got there at night and fought the whole way until daylight.
I'm level 32 and haven't used light/dark enchants at all yet. Fire/ice are still effective, though I might honestly be missing out by not trying a pawn with those, so try it out.

It seems like there's just story quests now if you ignore the random killing X monster or bring Y item. Is that the case around the mid point of the game? I'm not finding as many NPCs with unique quests like I was in the beginning of the game. I'm also lost as to where to spend my rift crystals, which NPC and where?

I found an easy way to cheese the Drake.
Get it chasing you and head south (kind of close to the western hills to avoid goblins, though they still might join the fight), the Drake will try to attack/charge and cross a zone-line where it will fly into the air and return north. Rinse and repeat and you'll fell the beast with hardly any damage taken. I was a Magick Archer, lvl.45ish, when doing this and took a good chunk out of its health with the Sixfold shot. Also: 1. Griffins are wimps, I've only killed one because they fly away so much. 2. Creepy goth girl likes me or something and wants to live with me, she got me the Affinity trophy. 3. Creepy jester is creepier than creepy goth girl. 4. Where can I find a bitchin' Greatsword? I hate that triple hammer that every warrior pawn uses. |

I might either go back to magick archer for the versatility or stick with assassin. Not entirely sure yet. |

You seem to be implying (and tell me if I'm wrong) that there are some obvious, objective standards by which DD shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Skyrim, but maybe they just aren't that obvious to me. p.s. I don't think Skyrim is a bad game (even having played the PS3 version), but it is a game with some pretty glaring flaws. |

Ha ha, oh man. Spoilers about a mid-game plot quest.
I just finished the quest about Fournival's trial. I dutifully went around and collected all of the evidence and then, since I wasn't going to let my source of cheap Ferrystones dry up, I threw all of the evidence against him into the trash, refused to escort the guy who wanted to testify against him to the capital, and turned in only the petitions for his release. Then I bought a couple of the forged petitions in his favor from Reynard and threw those on the pile for good measure. Fournival was acquitted and I celebrated by clearing out his Ferrystone inventory with my new discount. The real joy came when I turned the quest in. I talked to the quest-giver and when he said that Fournival was acquitted somehow with this sort of dejected tone I cracked up a bit. Then I took my money and experience, stuck my hands in my pockets, and whistled innocently to myself. I really kind of love how everything that happens in the Duke's Demesne is sketchy and awkward. Every single event there is tinged with lunacy of one sort or another. |

Well finished with the second full playthrough NOt a plus game. Have to say. Though it is still early yet. This is high on my game of the year and very high in my favorite games of all time. I have now had 3 15+ hour sessions at different times playing the game. It just doesn't get old and the classes make the game feel so different its insane. And I am still learning random tricks they put into the game. I haven't marathoned like that since my original XBOX.
I have to say no fast travel is probably one of the reasons I am still interested in this. Fast travel with a quick and easy spell always gets too overused by me. This has, what I think, is a good all around solution to that. Also hats off to Capcom for mixing so many different gameplay elements into a game and coming out with a winner. If the worst part is some low FPS or screen-tearing to get THAT much into a game I am there and twice on Sunday. It is strange to have my another game approach and than far exceed my love for Skyrim. But man, Skyrim I really enjoyed and spent countless hours in wonder. But some of the systems really detracted from the game and I also am not a huge fan of their artstyle for creatures. But this hits me at times and feels just like Shannara or Tolkien or Warhammer RPG. And that hasn't happened before.

There are two escort guys. I escorted the soldier from Windbluff Tower who testified in his favor, but the guy in Cassardis who wanted to testify against him I told "Not now" and then never came back for him. Seemed really sad when I turned him down. Was talking about really wanting to see justice served. Sorry guy, he offered me a discount on Ferrystones. The fact that he was guilty as sin just couldn't compete with that. The second guy is actually the gardener who you can rescue from execution after he's imprisoned for overhearing Fournival talking with the other Chancellor about very bad things. I imagine he can't take part in that quest if you don't do his quest earlier, for rather understandable reasons.

Alright, I have a question...
is https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...er=true&gid=17 not a reliable source? For mystic knight it says I should be able to buy ruinous sigil at rank 4, but I'm rank 5 and it still is not available.. |

Also what does affinity do anyway...especially since you can boost any npc's affinity in game. How can you measure their affinity? Lost in Nightmare was kinda cool for what it was. |

Just in case anybody had the same idea I had, I'll spare you some disappointment: the Magnanimous Mantle doesn't make the Regeneration Augment apply to your pawns.
Quite the pity. That was the whole reason I bought it. I suppose that now I can at least switch back to a proper cape. |

ppl seem to like this game. I played the demo but didnt care for it. I like the design but didnt care for how it was executed and the graphics were bad enough to give me headache(on ps3)
should i give second chance or is the demo a good representation. |

Strider probably has the most options. The game rewards offense over defense imo, so shields are often a waste. That being said, a fighter pawn can be pro, taking aggro but still wrecking shop.

The second part of the demo is a good representation of big fights. But it also has more downtime or large groups of small mob fights. I'd suggest a rental / gamefly first.
