This show used to be great and entertaining, but I think the criticisms of it becoming boring and stale are on the mark. Every episode feels like they are taking the safe route...pretty much nothing has changed and everyone is the exact same. The situations they get them self into are becoming a bit repetitive, their story arcs suck (Claire's council run was horrible...), the characters are basically the exact same as they were in season 1, and the whole "the moral of today's episode!" shtick is becoming tiring.
I don't give a crap about how many awards they won. IMO, the only reason they are destroying the Emmy's is because how safe the show is and their very talented cast. This season, I find that I only watch episodes after I've caught up on everything else. ABC's Happy Endings is so much better. |

Jim Parsons is not a good actor. The character he is portraying is Frasers wife in Cheers. I'm sure it's been done before that. There's nothing particular about it.
The finale for Modern Family was great but I tend to agree with the downers, most episodes these past two seasons have been very meh. Hardly funny and no interesting plots. Still, great finale and I will watch the next season. Jim Parsons sucks. |

I still think it's funny, just really predictable and repetitive. I think if this show had existed in the 90s or early to mid 2000s it would be amazing. It's just that since then we've had a slew of really creative and ambitious sitcoms/comedies that have really evolved the genre.

The comedy of each character comes from basic facts about them and changing the foundation of a character would be ill-advised. Growing a character doesn't ruin the base. |

Damn guys, not like I said anyone else had to dislike the show. Opinions aren't fact. All I did was voice my many complaints with specific instances that I hated as a long-time fan who is now dissatisfied. There's no right or wrong technically. All I have are my feelings that the show is boring and lazy with handfuls of specific examples that I've explained. Also, I'm not complaining for the sake of it. You can't "show me" that I'm doing that. The hell does that even mean. |

So you guys want the characters in Modern Family to evolve and change like what happened to the characters in Community?
You guys want a fucking train wreck? Unless you watched Modern Family back to back to back in the dark all day in your basement, the show was great and refreshing each week. |

You didn't go against anything I said, you posted a truly laughable attempt at being inflammatory ripped straight from a youtube comments section. Nothing you've posted actually says...anything.
I don't really know where Community came in, pretty sure you brought it in to make your post more charged? Dunno, anyway you can hate the character development on that show all you want but using that to sweepingly condemn all character development is not constructive. I can understand people saying they want no character development in this specific show, because then the balance will never be adjusted. It's something I highly disagree with, but whatever. So I've come to understand others opinions, but everyone else still seems shocked that I would prefer for there to be character development. I find that weird, that apparently my viewpoint that "character development is good" is so terribly wrong that it's beyond comprehension. The other parts of your posts are personal attacks on me, which I also don't get. I already told someone earlier that I'm honestly not at all worked up about any of this. We're discussing TV, that's it. It's easy to disagree and remain civil. It'd been pretty much that way so far. But now I have to "defend" myself I guess? Again nothing you posted really says much of anything, but I'll make some corrections in the interest of clarity: -I watched the show the night it aired usually with a friend or two in one of our (aboveground, because apparently that matters?) dorm rooms until I got back from school. Then I'd watch it with my brother and mom, who love the show. -I'm 19. Again, don't know why this'd matter. -I fucking LOVE clouds. How dare you even suggest I'd yell at them. Now, if we're going to hazard guesses as to each others real-life personas, I'll go ahead and guess you are the crying kid in your avatar. Take a breath, then discuss instead of flailing across your keyboard. |

Haha oh right you were that guy that tried to troll everyone and then posted character comparisons between MF and Community that made zero sense, then admitted you just wanted to shit up a thread and that you were proud of yourself for doing so, and then everyone stopped addressing you after ~30 posts.
...are you actually proud of that? |
