He does have a point though. All of Enix's side of games is pretty much gone (which consisted mostly of Tri-Ace and Cavia stuff).

Still, the company structure of Square Enix is much more similar to former Enix than former Square, considering Enix was the surviving company of the original merger. Still, Enix only had the Dragon Quest series to rely on in terms of multi-million game products, while Square had a few other series besides the Final Fantasy series.

Enix had been a big publisher for a long time, not just video games but comic books and other products as well. It even published some of the PSX Tomb Raider video games in Japan. Square Enix is simply following that structure, by becoming a big publisher of a variety of products in the West as well as its homeland.

If anything, it's more appropriate to rename SE as Enix than anything else.

So they don't show any of the titles that fans have been clamoring for, and instead have some insular, closed doors show where they show off an impressive-looking, yet confusing tech demo? I mean, is this just a tech demo for the sake of making a tech demo or is it a game that's gonna come out? If so, for what system? (I don't need to ask 'when', I know it'll be about 15 years away.)

They made XIII, XIII-2 and XIV with it, they are redoing XIV in a new engine.
The engine is probably the root of most of their production problems actually, they needed a new one. The whole Square Enix and Eidos will use the new engine, they hired people from places like DICE (Frostbite 2) to work on this, nobody will miss Crystal Tools :P

They sunk a hell of a lot of money into developing that beastly 2 UMD game. This needs to come over in one way or another. Do a fat, stupid CE for people like me and put it on PSN for Vita owners.

Nah Eidos is actually run pretty well and consistent like most successful western studios. They probably just wanted to focus on their next 3 games for now.

Don't forget the cake for Kingdom Hearts. :( Maybe they are waiting until the 3DS game is out before saying anything about an HD collection... but that rumor a few days ago got to me, I really was hyped for that. Never again though. Rumors can suck it. So, what does SE Japan have to show? All I can think of is Eidos stuff. I'm quite surprised we didn't see an XIII-3 or more DLC for XIII-2. Maybe SE Japan is on vacation.
