What's considered cajun/creole? The only thing Cajun I know is the seasoning. :P

I've recently been introduced to the splendour that is french toast with banana, bacon, maple syrup and fresh cream.

Though my frequent fond food pleasures are a paired butter chicken and lamb pasanda curry with garlic naan, or a Waygu steak with Hollandaise sauce.

Yes, I know it looks like vomit on a plate. But the variations of the 'Cantonese Fry' or 'Kong Foo Chow/Wat Tan Hor' that you get at certain hawker stalls/restaurants in Malaysia is the best food I have ever tasted.

A well seasoned, well grilled, medium rare ribeye steak is probably the best tasting food in the world to me.

Can't believe it took 3 pages to find Pierogies. Personally, I like mine fried in butter, garlic and onions, topped with bacon and sour cream.

When drunk its always a battle between poutine or shawarma. So damn good.

Depends on a lot of factors, but overall the best thing was the one thing I struggle to find in the UK but when I went to NYC it was readily available:

Pulled Pork is heavenly.

I'm torn between Sichuan and Hunan. I've had all the cuisines out there and I really like spicy stuff. Nothing compares to this stuff. Even their cold dishes are warmer than american spicy meals.

Ah, cool, London only but yes that looks like a good place, will check them out next time I am down there.

Wahaca did a good job of it, with a Mexican twist (the one in Covent Garden) but it wasn't straight up BBQ.

There's a great bbq restaurant next to my place that does an amazing pulled pork in a tequila lime bbq sauce. Its mouth watering. I'm in Canada though. I'm going to miss it when I move to the UK.

Hmm, deciding a favourite food is a difficult task. Though, I would say gyros is one of them. I can clearly remember having my first gyro when I was in Greece, at a small café in Neapolis.

Well it can be served various ways, that's just one. Usually with sides such as corn, beans, fries and various sauces.

It melts in the mouth too, the Pork is cooked SLOW.

Thai food is my favorite, no doubt. However, they definitely censor the spice sometimes, it's just that uncensored is THAT spicy...a lot of times if a non-Thai orders something spicy, they still don't give them the real deal.

Also, Thai tea is fantastic.

I had been told that to be fair, isn't it mostly in the South? My gf has Jamie Olivers America cook-book and he talks a lot about how fucking god awesome the meat is there.

We did make Bear-Butt Chicken from that book, that was pretty nice :)

Yes, it's mostly in the south if you're talking about pulled pork bbq. Pork ribs are big in Memphis and Kansas City. Beef is king in Texas. What you posted just has way too much sauce, and it shouldn't be mixed in. It should be dry, as in no sauce, and then you should add the sauce on top if you want any.

What you posted is what someone from up north thinks that BBQ would be like if they'd never actually tried it. I suppose they think the same thing about what the rest of the country does with pizza, though.

If you ever visit northeast Tennessee make sure you seek out Phil's Dream Pit. It's a locally owned BBQ joint with absolutely legendary pulled pork.

That's true. If they have coleslaw, I'm putting it on there. I'll post a picture in a minute of some I had at Ray Ray's BBQ here in Columbus, OH on Friday. Good stuff. The roll wasn't authentic, but I actually liked having a better tasting roll that was a little tougher than regular white bread. Hard to see the actual meat, but it was fantastic. Those collard greens were really good too.

If I can add it to any dish and make it taste better (up to a reasonable limit obviously), logically it must be the best tasting food. Without salt none of the foods in this thread would be worth eating.

(Runner up is definitely the ribeye, though.)
