But yes, Tito (with the greater drawing power of Ken Shamrock) kept the UFC on life support long enough to get to TUF. Yaay Tito. I'm not saying Tito was irrelevant. I'm saying let's not blow his role out of proportion.

If you look at the buyrates between UFC 40 and TUF, the picture is not quite so clear. ie. the last Tito card before TUF did 40k. While Mir/Sylvia (with a Shamrock/Kimo co-main) did 110k. It suggests, perhaps, that it was Ken's pro-wrestling fanbase, rather than Tito, that was to be credited for the post 40 success.

FACT #2(a): sporting-wise, Tito has been irrelevant to the division since 2006 (SD over Forrest.)

FACT #2(b): business-wise, Tito has been irrelevant to the sport since, at best, 2007 (UFC 73: stacked, Tito/Rashad I)
Thats generous, Tito has been irrelevant as a fighter since Frank Shamrock. Dana even said 'we gave Tito the easy fights' on Top 100 fights special.

Also, holy shit, did Ariel get to Sapp?

He actually TRIED and went the distance, can you believe it? Needs to be played with 'Going the Distance' from Rocky as the background theme.

I bet he was hoping the ref would stop around 2:30 but the opponent's arms gassed and stopped hitting him. Opponent also looks at least 2-3 weight classes below him.

Also Sapp had him fully mounted and let a fighter probably 60-70 lbs lighter sweep him like nothing.

Edit: Sherdog has his opponent at 185 lbs. Sapp has like 150 lbs on him.

UFC 147 gets better and better. Now even though almost nobody in the US knows who they are anyway, one of the TUF finalists Daniel Sarafian is injured and out of the fight .. making the event even more pointless. I can't see many people in the US buying this PPV card.

Fitch just made a good point about injuries. Didn't bring up health insurance, but that now there are so many cards, when before if you didn't take a fight you would be waiting a while for a spot.

More blame to put on the 400 a year schedule.

I agree, friend. I hate the way our legends are treated once they begin their decline.

Tito is an absolute lock for the UFC hall of fame and anyone questioning his importance to both the company and the sport is kidding themselves.

Does anybody think that some of the Pride legends that have not had success in the UFC such as Crocop and Wand will make it into the Hall of Fame? I think they damn well should since Zuffa owns Pride now. Just like how WWE inducted WCW wrestlers and guys from other promotions into their HoF.

And just like the WWE Hall of Fame, its not even an actual location, its just a fictional 'achievement' with a ceremony and buffet.

Sure, induct them all, even Fedor. Who gives a shit, its imaginary?

Brazilian striker Luiz Cane has been injured and forced out of his UFC 150 bout against Japan's Yushin Okami. Stepping in to meet Okami will be Cane's countryman, submission specialist Rousimar Palhares.

Palhares shouldn't have taken this fight, I don't see him winning. He's going to get fucked up in the striking department, and good luck trying to pull Okami in your gaurd, dudes huge, Palhares doesn't have that power advantage that he usually has. Not to mention Okami is a good grappler, so he isn't automatically in danger if it goes to the ground.

Oh I'm sure it'll be great. Just being in Brazil and full of Brazilian fighters should make it a crazy live event. But what good American is going to pay $60 for Tito vs Forrest 3 some other rematch between 2 over the hill cans and a bunch of Brazilians?

Fight Church is a feature documentary about the confluence of Christianity and mixed martial arts, including ministries which train fighters. The film follows several pastors and popular fighters in their quest to reconcile their faith with a sport that many consider violent and barbaric. Faith is tried and questions are raised. Can you really love your neighbor as yourself and then punch him in the face?

I was thinking the other day about Arlovski's prime and I have come to the conclusion that he didn't even have one. He's been getting KTFO since his early UFC days and has just been fighting better competition once he left the Ultimate. Sergei, Fedor and Bigfoot are better opponents than anybody that hes fought in the UFC.

Arlovski has been getting flash KTFO far before his UFC fights. His striking was usually just good enough to prevent it from happening.

Most people started realizing it during the Tim Sylvia KO.

But it's happened way before that, in a fight that he was dominating. All of a sudden...... That was his first ever fight.

If only he had Mark Hunt's chin!

John McCain and Harry Reid have proposed creation of a Federal Boxing Commission:

Under the legislation, all referees and judges participating in a championship or a professional fight lasting 10 rounds or more would have to be fully registered and licensed by the commission. A sanctioning organization could provide the names of judges and referees it considers qualified for that caliber bout, but only the commission could appoint judges and referees to participate in the matches.

Ah yes, the shihonage would be a great addition to MMA. After all, the opponent can't kick your face if you're already sitting on the ground. And don't forget the magical control over someone's entire body you can get if you press down on their wrist with one hand and put your hand under their chin. They'll have to blink in Morse code to tap out.

Ebersole said he wants to move back down to lightweight after his next fight. There would be a lot of interesting fights for him there.
