Time = money. of course it's about not having enough money. If TitS FC had sold like gangbusters, they could've put a larger team working on the localization full-time (instead of having to focus on other projects to keep the company alive) and "forced" their way through any other issues they are facing with especially Second Chapter (instead having to wait for Falcom maybe doing something about the problematic nature of it, maybe outsource the coding stuff to some other company).

It gets a lot more nuanced. The last dungeon in the game was pretty challenging. There are definitely some Monster Hunter mark quests, that are challenging as well.

Good stuff, it'll get there.

Thanks for those post, guys. This is such a relief. Tits is one of the best JRPG's I've played in the last couple of years. Not seeing the sequel being translated would've slayed me.
Guess I'll be waiting for a bit longer then.

Also discovered this game thanks to GAF and I'm grateful. Everything just clicked with me while playing this game. It has so many good and funny characters. The interaction between Estelle and Olivier is just HILARIOUS

The battle theme was one of the worst things about the game to me. I can still hum it outloud because I heard it so much, but I really didn't like it. Stupid jazzy thing, reminded me of Marvel 2.

I'm surprised at the hate for the regular battle theme. I love it. Yeah, the boss music is a bit iffy.

My favorite normal battle theme in the series is the one from 3rd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgzRE...e_gdata_player

And SC has a great boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtZ1V...e_gdata_player

Depends. Corpse Party is shorter so you could get that out of the way quicker. But if you have the time now and maybe not later, then focus on Trails in the Sky since it requires more attention & time. I'm not even going to try to compare them quality-wise, both are SoGood.jpg.

I have come close to pulling the trigger on buying this game so many times now. At first I was waiting for a price drop on PSN. Once that happened in March I started to think about all the other jrpgs sitting in my backlog and how this game would probably just go on sale the week after I purchased it... However, the game is definitely on my radar.

I tried to play a bit more of this a while ago but now I am sitting on it on the hopes that we will get a version of it on Steam. I know it seems weird but I'm not that far in to the game and it'd be nice to see the whole series lines up in a row.

In other news I am actually going through the Gagharv Trilogy using the supposedly shit localization effort from Bandai on PSP, but I am enjoying my time with Tear of Vermillion.

I liked it from the very first minutes. None of this "it only gets good after 25 hours, FOR REALZ!" bullshit for me. It just depends what you like. I didn't mind the slow pace or the (mostly) more lighthearted adventuring in the beginning. If you want action action action, drama drama drama from the beginning, you're not going to get it. I find it quite similar to ASOIAF, really (though of course not quite as graphic or grimm) in how, in the beginning, it's simply introducing us to the world & characters and setting up the building blocks for the rest of the story. I find that entertaining as well.

Would definitely recommend this game. Seeing this topic makes me feel like playing it again. Never did do that Max BP run. Hopefully SC gets announced soon enough. Maybe I'll do a re run then since I'll have bought a Vita at that point.

What's weird about this game is that I don't think there's any one thing they did particularly well. The music is neither good nor bad (title theme is really good though). The story is pretty simplistic, yet not stupid. The battle system has both it's good points and bad points.

But something just clicks with it. It has an indescribable charm that I can't out my finger on and in the end I loved it. It helps that the characters are quite endearing.

I don't really get the hate for the battle music, but I really don't get how it can be a main factor into not continuing to play this game.

I kinda want to replay and go new game+ and this time understand how the hell the quartz system works and it's various combinations and using spells more because I brute-forced my way through and abused the limit-breaks constantly near the end game.

Also the final boss took forever. My god

I was engaged by the story from the start. The plot doesn't start to get really crazy until the second half of the game, but I think the game did an amazing job of developing the characters and the world. It felt like a living, breathing place, and the characters were just so much fun to watch interacting throughout the whole journey.

Not to mention some of the best NPC dialogue I can remember in any game.

If you check the bracer notebook it tells you what quartz you need to be able to use certain spells. When assigning quartz to slots, it tells you which slots are linked so you can know where to allocate certain quartz to get the magics you want. It's easier on some characters than others depending on the slot layout.

I found it all pretty easy myself, but then again I only played on normal. I just abused Time Quartz. Action, Cast and EP Cut quartz will more than likely give White Gelhenna which I fiund to be the best magic since you can drop it on an area instead of an enemy. With the same quartz it also lets you spam magic by speeding up turns and reducing EP Cost.

Made Joshua over powered in the last dungeon if you give him Gladiator equipment. White Gelhenna builds up his CP very fast with that equipped, so you can use his S-Break quite regularly

First game in what has become my favorite RPG series. Period.

And the music gets soooo good. I played FC when it released in English year and ended up buying and playing every released game in a row for six months as a result. Hahaha.

Also, people say they don't need the 3rd. You really do though. Absolutely.

Goddamn. I had no clue about the Bracer book having that knowledge, I mainly used it as a sidequest guide. I missing like 2 sidequests too and I had no idea the quizzes mattered in the very end. ;_;

Yea, the SP acceleration accessories were gdlk. I gave Joshua the better of the two I got and switched the other ring around in the final dungeon between Zane and Estelle, whichever one was closest to gaining S-Break because the enemies in the final dungeon were a pain without them.

Amazing game, I discovered it exactly one year ago, summer 2011 and I loved it.
Such a great story telling, so much suspense, I also loved the fighting system (although not really deep).
Unfortunately now we are all left waiting for the localization of the two sequels............which has proved to be really challenging.
Those games deserve better marketing and a publisher with more money.
Unfortunately they're niche and no one was/is interested in them.

I just started learning piano as a casual hobby about a month ago and like finding simple tunes that I can easily play.

Anyhow, music is good so far. Back to the game.

Finished it recently. I tried to do every little side quest which makes the mid game drag as those quests don't have much story or associated events. It does pick up in the last hours and the combat even became a little more interesting but I think I would have enjoyed it more overall if I didn't go out of my way to complete everything. I was probably overleveled for the story missions as well.

edit: reading that back it might seem I'm down on the game. it's more an issue of filler between the good parts.

The music is excellent, so are the story and especially the characters!
I'm starting to get a hang of the battle and ability systems, it's pretty good!
Very technical, it's almost satisfying when I can get all tiles in place where there are critical bonuses and proceed to crack the enemy!

I had the same problem too, searched every region available and it turned out to be somewhere obvious but he just blended in so well that I kept missing him. And I was overseas on vacation with no easy access to internet so I had to find him myself with no help. So much time wasted finding that damn guy.

To put this in perspective, since the start of 2009 - over the past 3 1/2 years - there have been effectively only three ESSENTIAL traditional JRPGs released domestically that must be experienced.
(Demon's/Dark Souls isn't exactly traditional, the Devil Survivor games are largely strategy/RPG hybrids and Pokemon is well... Pokemon. So I'm not counting those.)

Xenoblade Chronicles
Radiant Historia
...
... and The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.

That's all. Shouldn't be a big commitment for anyone.
