Calm down a lot of us massive backlogs and it doesn't make sense to waste $40 to $60 on day 1.

The only thing they aren't really improving in 2 that I wish they would do is give the characters more than 1 special ability. I know you can level it up and customize it more than in 1, but I would love for each of the characters to have several cool unique moves that made it more fun to try out each class.

In Borderlands 1 I tried out each class, but I only really liked the Soldier and Lilith's abilities. The big guy's was good for health recovery, but at higher levels it didn't seem like it would hold up very well. The sniper guy's bird power was hot garbage from what I played of it and it didn't look like any of the upgrades would make it good.

In 2 they definitely seem to be improving the classes ability so hopefully I'll have fun with all of them this time.

A bit off-topic, but can you say what type of netcode the ps3 version will use? Please don't say gamespy for ps3 like 1.

Man I love borderlands. Will buy day one to support (on steam). I do hope it is longer then the first just because in the first one we have to play the game like 3 times to get to the max level. Either way, i respect gearbox for respecting us PC only gamers.

Also does anyone know if this is steamworks? I forget if the first was as I just bought it on steam initially.

Brick punches stuff to death, punches it! I guess it depends on what tree you use, I went Berserker > Brawler and when I kill stuff it increases my melee damage and my punches have a dashing distance. Once those are maxed out I'm going to work on the health regen.

Can you make sure there's no loot exploits like the chests in that one town everyone abused by simply reloading the game over and over. I forget the town's name but the chests were right there. Yeah I know this isn't Diablo but maybe there will be a semi-decent trading community, ya never know.

The only hot garbage is this part of your post. Sniper and Soldier and the best classes for soloing by far. Bloodwing makes shit super easy, especially when you add elemental
mods.

It just sounds like you were doing it wrong.

Not bad, just missed a lot of tools that shouldve been native. Runs fine, but some of the more advanced options make the game sing.

Played on PC and PS3, and the PC port is fine.

The funny thing is that even "crappy" ports are still worth more than the console versions in my opinion. They still look and play better on my rig no matter what.

But sure, the more polished they are the better !
Jesus Christ my video card am cry.

Also, I agree about the "shitty ports". I haven't played a major game that's "shitty" on a PC for a long time. Borderlands UI was pretty bad, but the game was fucking amazing as it was (boo hoo, we had to use the page up and down buttons sometimes).

Unless is PC port is majorly fucked/non-functional, its still always better than the console versions. Also, I love that pc versions only get better over time.

Things like menu navigation with a mouse, v-sync, and high resolutions aren't features, nor should they require a game's predecessor first selling millions of copies to be implemented. I suppose compared to the first game's atrociously poor handling, though, this makes it seem like Serious Sam or something.

I think Borderlands would have to be the most unexpected hit franchise of the generation. It looked so bland for so long and then turned out to be great fun. I never thought it would reach a wide audience.

Like I said earlier, it may not have been great, but it was usable.

Compare it to something like Skyrim. Now that is a fucking terrible PC port UI.

The UI in the PC version of Borderlands is awful, and Gearbox should be taken to task for it. There's no reason they couldn't have at least patched in some options to implement the tweaks the fans/community had already addressed. What made it even more frustrating is when they started auto-updating files in Steam and overwriting the .ini files, forcing you to make the changes again and again.

As others have already mentioned, it's still a wonderful game. It is frustrating, though, to deal with those issues when the only reason they seem to persist is laziness or indifference on the part of the developer.

Bought the GotY version of Borderlands today along with bulletstorm. I've played a bit of it with my buddy and quite enjoyed it, but i haven't done a full playthrough or tried any DLC.
Depending on how good the game is I will have to get BL2 as well, maybe not day 1 but still.

The DLC is excellent. It's been awhile, but I think it was better than the main game. Definitely save it for after your first playthrough, though.

Will there be an in-game option for AA? I can get AA to work on Borderlands 1 on my ATI card via CCC but it always seems like performance takes a bigger hit that way as opposed to having an in-game AA option. Also I'm probably in the minority here but I think it looks better with the outlines turned off, I hope they include an in-game option for that as well so I dont have to mess with .ini files and all that jazz. However my biggest gripe with the first one was just the lack of variety in the environment and that seems to be much improved so even if they didnt fix the other stuff its still one of my most anticipated games

I loved the first Borderlands, the diversity of the classes really made it fun in co-op. Two Mordecai's for example could play out totally different, if one was specialized in pistols while the other was specialized in sniping baddy's heads over a mile away. And then there was Brick, who just was the Hulk without green skin and cheesy one-liners that consisted of two words...

You have to disable some of the shading effects to get AA working without the huge framerate hit in the original. It will do away with the thick black outlines on everything.

I loved the first game even with the shitty UI and online play.

But it's going to be VERY difficult not to wait for the Steam sale. I picked up the original for $5 on Steam, and that was not too long after release. Why pay $50 when I can pay $5?

I get your point, some games are ridiculously cheap on Steam, I really hope the Summer Sale is coming soon... If it's coming at all. Borderlands 2 will still be a day one for me, but if the game will be cheap again on Steam I just buy it for a friend, the game has to be played in co-op, right?

The only way it can be ruined now is if there's a "Push Start" pre-menu screen. That's when Steam Support gets involved.

I have the Ultimate Loot Chest edition pre-ordered at Amazon and a vanilla copy pre-ordered at GameStop (For their bonuses, plus I like to keep my CE's as complete as possible.)

I bought the first at launch, tore through SP, then sold it for Modern Warfare 2. Went back to the original when the GOTY on 360 was $40 on Amazon's Black Friday sale and fell in love with the DLC.

I consider Borderlands to be an average girl that you're really hot for and you realize it's not one thing, it's everything.
