Parks & Rec started doing some product placement for VW. I recall Leslie driving a Honda during the first and second season and suddenly she started driving Touregs and Jettas.

Also, April and Andy doing a road trip in a Jetta: http://www.nbc.com/parks-and-recreat...ves/road-trip/.

I remember the move Basic Instinct having a terrible scene where he offers Sharon Stone a Jack Daniels. I cant remember the exact quote but the writing was so stilted, it couldn't have felt any more forced.

Unless you live on mainland Europe. It was Pizza Hut for them.

And in the UK we don't have Taco Bell so I thought it was a fake restaurant name until I discovered the internet.

In some anime you get brand products but they're misspelled. Ive seen instances where Sony was Zony. Canon becoming Kanon etc.

That wouldn't be product placement.

What were those shows that had product placement added in during syndication? I think I remember How I Met Your Mother, and something else.

I think that breaks down when the entire police department has macbook pros. You know they'd all be running some generic dell/lenovo, probably still running windows XP professional

I came here just to post this, I absolutely love the show but this was a bit too far.

I hate it that EVERY NBC show seems to be sponsored by Apple, that episode of 30 Rock whereby Liz loses her phone is by far one of the worst examples. Is started off funny with all the Snapple stuff early on but then took it way too far.

You didn't notice the Sony product placement in a Sony movie? Get your eyes checked and edit your post before a Sony exec sees it, otherwise their next movie will be an animated Viao and PS3 buddy-cop comedy.

I guess it goes even further than inside the film. My brother, a service manager at an Acura dealership, told me about how corporate paid for every employee at the dealership to go see Avengers premieres with the stipulation that they drove there in their Acuras and parked near the exits for maximum visibility.

While all this paid for stuff is disgusting, there is a problem the other way, if you want to use a brand in a scene because it will help the scene , you need permission from them to do so.

I find this even worse then the paid shit, they bombard the world with their logos and name yet they have control over if a creative work can manipulate and play with the concepts.

Dr. Oz and The Doctors. Both shows are practically infomercials and they'll advertise scams or misinformation as long as company behind the product pays up.

No matter how clever a show is with being upfront or subtle in product placement... it's just allllll bad.

Nothing they say or show can say otherwise. THat's why you got commercials between act breaks.

Isn't this what Daytime TV was built around? Even with stuff like the Today show, when they have those "experts" on to demo the latest gadgets or coffee makers I always figured the companies paid for that as ad time.

Right. This sort of thing makes sense, because it's about products that were out in 1985 that weren't out in 1955. You have to use real products for those jokes to work.
