Anyway, the first thing that springs to mind is the first Bayformers movie, where they do a close-up shot of an SD card to show it's from Panasonic, or when Sam wrecks his bike running from Bumblebee, and he runs into Mikaela, with a giant Burger King logo taking up half the screen.

A lot of Fox shows are pretty bad about it (Bones in particular as of late). Obviously Chuck was over the top with the Subway product placement, but it was more of a wink at the audience than anything.

I pretty much stopped watching Bones when they had an entire episode dedicated to Avatar!

Its funny, I don't think twice when I see an Apple laptop/someone says "google" on TV...but whenever I see a VAIO or some other search engine it totally snaps me out of the show. :p

Two factors I think come to mind here. The first is that we'd expect those products/services to be used by people within the tv/movie's universe, and second that I doubt Apple and Google would need to shill their stuff like that. Those products sell themselves.

Now all restaurants are Taco Bell Edit: Not a TV show.

Unless you live on mainland Europe. It was Pizza Hut for them.

And in the UK we don't have Taco Bell so I thought it was a fake restaurant name until I discovered the internet.

So, coming back to this thread: new Spiderman was pretty bad with the Sony advertising and Bing, but at the same time I felt sooo relieved when he was in the webs playing a mobile game and it was some generic one instead of Angry Birds or some crap

The Bing scene instantly took me out of the movie, didnt notice the Sony stuff too much.

Has anyone posted this yet? 2012 Volkswagen Beetle on Comedy Bang! Bang! It's the most disgusting and blatant case of product placement I've ever seen!

I came here just to post this, I absolutely love the show but this was a bit too far.

I hate it that EVERY NBC show seems to be sponsored by Apple, that episode of 30 Rock whereby Liz loses her phone is by far one of the worst examples. Is started off funny with all the Snapple stuff early on but then took it way too far.

My brother, a service manager at an Acura dealership, told me about how corporate paid for every employee at the dealership to go see Avengers premieres with the stipulation that they drove there in their Acuras and parked near the exits for maximum visibility.

While all this paid for stuff is disgusting, there is a problem the other way, if you want to use a brand in a scene because it will help the scene , you need permission from them to do so.

I find this even worse then the paid shit, they bombard the world with their logos and name yet they have control over if a creative work can manipulate and play with the concepts.

Right. This sort of thing makes sense, because it's about products that were out in 1985 that weren't out in 1955. You have to use real products for those jokes to work.
