So, Jim Ward lasted about 4 years -- which was met with a sigh of relief to us adventure game fans, considering he said Monkey Island wouldn't be back until 2015 -- and then Darrell Rodriguez lasted 2 years (and managed to do some good things in that time), and now Paul Meegan is gone after 2 years.
What the hell is going on over there? And considering the rotation of Presidents coming and going from that company, who in their right mind would take that brief now? Either way, I wonder what projects get the axe this time. Hopefully whoever takes control has a fondness for adventure games again. Whilst I'm not expecting new ones or anything like the Monkey Island Special Editions, it would be nice for them to leverage their properties and actually re-release them on services like GOG and Steam, instead of pretending they don't even exist, which seems to have been Meegan's approach.

I've always wondered what it takes for someone with a strong business background (I'm assuming) to look at something like the Tim Schafer Kickstarter whirlwind, look at their catalog of Tim Schafer games that are getting mentioned in all these videos, and think "No, I do not want to sell these games that are obviously a hot property and are getting a ton of free marketing".

Play it using ResidualVM.
IMO, anyone who cares about these games already owns them. And if you own them, you can just copy them to your HDD and play using ScummVM and Residual VM. It all works on Mac and Linux too. Who cares if they're on Steam or not. |

If they get on Steam or GOG and they actually sell good enough it can show LucasArts that people are still into these franchises and maybe they will have people like TellTale make more.

I am, but I still have savegame issues. Currently, all I can do is play the game in one sitting if I want to beat it, and I just haven't had the time.

Wasn't Meegan's deal that he wanted to reinvent LucasArts as a leading AAA company dedicated to the Star Wars brand with 90+ Metacritic games with lengthy dev times to take on major players in the market? Like an open-world RPG taking on Skyrim, 1313 on Uncharted and FPS on Call Of Duty/Battlefield.
Also, the guy just started a Twitter account if you want to follow his exploits. |

For the love of God, I wish they'd do something with Battlefront 3, Jedi Knight, or the X-Wing series, but they won't.
There seems to be a mandate from Lucas that they have to focus exclusively on prequel or between trilogy stuff, to prop up their other merchandising and television shows. |

I want someone who'll actually make their older catalog available again, especially through GOG, but to be honest anyone that will ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING would be a huge improvement. I'm still blown away at how completely inert they've become over the last few years.

It sounds like for business it can be more complex than that. However, the least they could do is get stuff like KotOR2 on Steam, but instead after one shot they basically gave up on classic re-releases altogether! And have barely put out new games period, it's absurd how they're sitting around and doing NOTHING save for 1313, and that was only just announced and won't be out for quite awhile.

He probably goes into their offices once a month, takes a complimentary coffee, says hi to the janitor, and leaves.
