The moment you find a song after having looked for it for YEARS.
#1
Internet makes things easier nowadays and music I've listened to as a kid is now hidden in some corner of Youtube/Dailymotion and so on.
I've recently found that fantastic song from Ofra Haza I used to listen to when I started having interest in girls. It never left my head for some reason and I was so glad when I got to find it yesterday purely by chance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRnzTTYk7_Q ![]() And you GAF, have you also found gems of your childhood in the meanders of internet ?

Yeah, back in the day, after hearing a song on the radio that you wanted to find, it was such a hard slog. I remember hearing a good song, and quickly scrounging for pen and paper and trying to jot down as many of the lyrics as I could remember to find for the future. Even then it was always hard to find, especially before the Internet was so dominant.
Nowadays it's as easy as Shazam/Soundhound, find the song, then Youtube it. It's almost too easy. It's nowhere near as satisfying when you find the song. |

This thread has arrived at the perfect time!
I'm hoping someone will be able to id a song I've been trying to find for ages! Cast your mind back to when MTV2 was good, and bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc were on constant rotation... They used to play a track with a female vocalist (I think they are a foreign band). The video was shot in a scrap yard, and there was a shirtless bassist I think with a shaved head. If anyone can help id this track that would be great! |

I definitely understand. One of the few memories I have of my aunt (who has passed since) is sitting in a restaurant with with her and my father back in the mid 90s. I can just vaguely recall the song playing in the background. Nothing about the song was extraordinary or anything, but its just one of those memories that stick with you. It was too long ago for me to remember the lyrics or anything in great detail but it drove me crazy until I recently heard it on a podcast. I searched for the lyrics and finally discovered what it was.

There was always this song that played during Gran Turismo 3 Aspec. For some reason whenever I think of driving it's the first song that comes to my mind. Of course, because of this I became fond of it but since I lost the game years ago I could never figure out what it was. I liked it so much I learned how to play it from old degraded memories on guitar.
Just for the sake of this thread I finally decided to google the soundtrack and check each one individually on youtube. It ended up being The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary. Funny, because the moment I saw it on the list I realized that was it. So how does it feel? It's exactly how I remember it. The vocals kind of ruin it though. |

Well, let's use this opportunity.
I remember having watched a video clip of a band (The Cure ?) in which the band members are stuck in a cupboard and this cupbaord rolls down a hill or something. Couldn't find it anymore even after extensive search on Youtube. |

Also I've been trying to find this song for years and I have nothing to go on. It was a hit in the 80s but nobody plays it on the radio anymore. At first I thought Billy Ocean sang it, or the one guy from the Doobie Brothers, but I still can't come up with anything(going by the sound of his voice). I don't even know any of the words. Just a few bits of the chorus with words that sound like "light" or "love" and "shine". There's a bit of that, a few notes from a sax (I think) then a few more words. It's killing me.

Jonathan Richman - Egyptian Reggae
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK4T9BrQobY plagued me since I was a teenager. heard it once, never forgot it, took me about 18 years (thank you, internet and a german movie using it in the soundtrack) to finally identify it. Felt great, but listened it only a couple of times since. Just wanted to know the title. |

I have a lot of trouble understanding lyrics, so it took me a long time to find these nostalgic songs:

Went years hearing this at the end of a drunken night at a bar and couldn't remember which song this was. I then tried to hum it to a friend and they picked it up:
Piano Man I blame me being hammered off my ass most nights to not realize it was Piano Man the whole time. |

There are tons of songs I remember from when I was young where the only thing I got is the music video.
2 in particular stand out and I've never found them again: one video had these computer graphics where a triangle-plane raced around tracks, the other starred a bunch of table tennis players with an awkward looking guy wiping the floor with the other 4 competitors (including a hispanic dude with an afro and a guy in a suit with a scandinavian sounding name on his namecard). Both songs were some form of electronic dance, I believe. One day I'll find them. |

I've been wanting to hear the opening theme song to the 1987 Jimmie Walker sitcom "Bustin' Loose", but it apparently isn't online anywhere. There are links to an earlier show of the same name, but that's not what I want. I can hear the song in my head, but hearing it in my actual ears would be like [insert something good and pleasant]

NSFW!!! Rudy - The Underpants Song
Heard this song on a road trip down south in the wee hours of the morning back in 1999. My friend and I couldn't believe our ears, it was so absurd. We remembered just enough to sing a couple of the lyrics to each other, and then last year I found it again. Sample lyrics

It is a truly magical feeling. It's happened to me many times, but I remember Ghost Love Score being one of the most satisfying. That one took me ages to find.

In 2012?! Come on, bro... But, yes. I do know the feeling after finally hearing Cruel Summer by Bananarama. I would always hear snippets of it as a kid and loved the tune but I never knew the title until only a few years ago. |
