i refuse to believe he is the fastest person in the world as there is no way of knowing. I'm sure out there, somewhere there is some guy stuck in a dead end job, in some small town who is faster than Bolt.
Having said that, Bolt is the fastest RECORDED person in the world at the moment. |

I guess it's irrelevant since it would be like RAN 100M IN 20 SECONDS HE RAN IT IN WAY FASTER I'm slower. Just too lazy to run the 100m and I remember the fastest I could sprint at my fastest Off to do some quick math I guess. 4:30am laziness failed me.

It's like drag racing. 100M is just a raw sprint to the finish, with everyone giving their all every second of the race. The longer distances you get, the more people get into pacing themselves and saving their energy. The 100m is all about power.

I think its alot more because of how tall and lanky he is while still being so lumber. You should watch that doc on youtube that Mike Johnson(former fastest man) did on Bolt.
Bolt is the fastest guy running 100m right now. Unless you run track, you are not going to beat an elite track star in his discipline. |

Because people like power and speed over endurance?

In the real world, where being world-class comes only from hard work and devoting your life to training, no. Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the world. Period. |

The best Olympians have always trained hard and yet the times that Bolt has run the last two Games have blown them all away. It is impossible that someone could just naturally posess that speed. Yes, I can guarantee there is nobody on the planet who has never trained with elite track coaches who can even come close to what Bolt does. If you think it is possible, then you are living in fantasy land. |

7 billion. And to do what Bolt does requires training. Anybody that is training for the 100m and is faster than him would be known by now. If you are untrained, you can not come even within a few seconds of him. It's that simple.

I'm pretty sure he means that there is someone out there that if given the same training could be faster. It's becoming less and less likely imo. It's theoretically possible but i don't think it's the case.

Saturday night some friends and I got drunk and played kickball. At one point I was playing "outfield" and had to go chasing after a ball that went sailing past me. In my inebriated, flat-out sprint, I was pretty sure that no one had ever run as fast as I was running at that moment.
But yes, it's almost certainly Usain Bolt. |

if everybody in the world would train in 100m i doubt bolt would be number 1, the odds would be heavily stacked against him but right at this moment it's borderline impossible that any guy not training 100m has even a slight chance.

People from Jamaica are generally lively. Saying someone lacks class because they're from a different culture and thus think and behave differently isn't saying much. Certainly rather that than them people who thank god for this and that, while pretending to be humble. The man is playing about for the cameras anyway, it's obvious he wants to be remembered, and he is doing a good enough job so far. Being held to the English speaking worlds' ideas of class, is something no person should ever want to do, especially with all the neurotic bullshit that comes with it. Now someone like Madonna she has no class, because she treats others who aren't as famous as her like they're below her.

People saying that there are faster runners out there that just haven't been discovered yet are completely dismissing Bolt's years of intense training. Sure he has plenty of natural abilit as well, as did everyone in that race last night, but the endless training these guys go through is what truly separates them from the rest of us.
Is there a person on the planet that has the potential to be faster? Quite possibly, but some undiscovered dude would be years away from being ready to compete on the same track and thus isn't any where close to being as fast as Bolt right now. |

Although I do think people are more likely to discover their talent for running than most other sports. |

Meanwhile, the thing that really irked me yesterday was Maroney getting Silver in the vault and then not even acknowledging her other competitors. Yes, you can say she is a teenager and she was overwhelming favorite so she must have been crushed but please show more sportsmanship than that. Compare that to Bolt respecting the anthem or Oscar Pistorius and Kirani James swapping numbers and the difference is night and day. Both classy acts that show the true spirit of the games. I think that classy actions like that transcend all cultures and anyone watching the Games would have been impressed by the sportsmanship on display. |
