I'm not suggesting it's my favorite or anything, but I had Green Chartreuse for the first time tonight and it was delicious. A little bit of anise, some mint, some spice, a little sweet but not too sweet. I just wish it weren't so expensive.

First I had it straight up, and then in a cocktail with honey, lime, egg white, and bitters.

HUGE fan of southern comfort, especially mixed with some Dr. Pepper.

Speaking of mixing with Dr. Pepper, I find the following goes very nicely:

151 is awesome! A friend of mine calls the mix Golden Gourmet. Aside from that, it also fun to use 151 to make Flaming Dr. Pepper. Good times...

I love Chartreuse. Herbal liqueurs are one of my biggest guilty pleasures. Strega and Benedictine are also some pretty good ones.

Sambuca, Ouzo, Pastis, etc are all blech for me too. I don't understand how people LIKE anise flavored things...

I usually stick to rum, vodka, or tequila. I don't necessarily like whiskey straight but mixing it is good. I usually buy Maker's Mark for that. Oh it is good in Dr. Pepper too.

Sake is my favorite (only when served warm), but they're often too expensive around here so I drink cheaper vodka.

Not a huge liquor guy (stouts and red wine is more like it), but I've been greatly enjoying a bottle of Johnny Walker Black I got as a gift.

At a Japanese bar or sushi place yes, but bottles aren't that expensive at stores, or at least in SoCal.

Also, UV 103 is surprisingly smooth...the regular one is gross.

Vodka - Nemiroff Premium/Hammer & Sickle (always drink it with pickled veggies as a chaser)
Cognac - Remy Martin V.S.O.P. or X.O.

But usually beer is my drink of choice - Cristal or Guinness

For relaxing times, indeed. Just received a bottle of Nikka Taketsuru 17 Year old as a gift and whilst it is not as godly as Yamazaki 25 YO it is an excellent Japanese whiskey and one I would recommend.

Hennessy VSOP is a favourite 'everyday' cognac with XO reserved for special occasions.

Beer, wine, spirits - I'll drink just about anything so long as it is well made. Except tequila and gin. Nasty stuff no matter the pedigree in my opinion.

I'm interested, but they don't ship to my state. I would only be able to get this once a year when I visit my family in the Midwest, and even then I would have to drive to Chicago.

I am intrigued, as a rare awesome Gin with an awesome story behind it might be worth the trouble... hmmm.

Vodka - V-one. If you're a fan of vodka this stuff is the best thing I've had, it is extremely smooth. It may only be in the Northeast as of now though.

I enjoy Crown Royal for whiskey. Though I haven't felt the need to spend too much and try some higher end Whiskeys.

I won't go into Whisky territory (I LOOOOOooovveeeeee good whisky, but there is a dedicated thread already) but lately I've been amazed by this :

A really fine Grappa (barique, so not the white one) which turned out to be as refined and subbtle as a good "di Barrolo".

This one is much less famous as it's not distilled in a region known for Grappa (it comes from the "Bolzano" north-east italy, near Austria (Tyrol).

Really happy that one of the little shop I visited there proposed me to taste it when I was ready to pick a few bottles of "di Barrolo" (which is excelent still).

Hell yes. I love this more than Maker's.

Having said that, my favorite drink is the afore-mentioned Lagavulin 16. Tastes like a peat moss fire in my mouth and makes me nostalgic for my native land. I'm also partial to Laphroaig and Oban, as well as Dewar's 16 when I'm in the mood for blended. JW Black is also a go-to.

UKgaf Find this - Love this!

It is NOT the Jameson gold sold in the US. Picked up a bottle in Ireland on my way home from Iraq.

Best damn blended scotch for the price - about $19 a bottle local. No need to church it up when having a drink after work.
