As I've said before, WAHP is my favorite podcast. I look forward to re-listening to this Stage, and of course, thank you guys very much for the time and effort involved.
I'm surprised no one has guessed the (I believe it was the first) mystery game Shidoshi mentioned. I'm not going to guess, though, as I assume I know what it is from the description ;) . If it plays out as described, this news/rumor sucks. I don't feel heartbroken, though, probably because I already resigned myself to not getting to play that game for the forseeable future. Mostly, I wonder why Sony would not "ok" the game now. My perception is they had been doing good recently: Malicious to NA PSN, Tokyo Jungle to NA. Especially given the fan and more positive critical reception this game has gotten now, I don't get it. I know nothing about the approval situation, but barring some legal reason (or: any actual reason) I cannot even think of, I would have to describe this as stupid, and whoever said "no" to this game should be removed from their position. This game had a big impact on me -- it made me feel that objectively those low review scores the game got were wrong and that this game is of the top few grades/tiers of meaningfulness. As for furry, I now know basically what was shared and would welcome future sharing. I can't really think of any specific questions, other than if Nick could perhaps explain more of how this affects him, or more about his fursona. Thanks again guys, and stay healthy! |

Also I'll echo the sentiment that WAHP is the best podcast. |

I do wish Himukai would back off the loli juice, though. That's it. |

I am just happy that we got another episode of this podcast before Christmas. It'll be interesting to see how well the schedule will be maintained from here on out.
As for the dramatic revelation at the end of the podcast there doesn't seem to be any kind of er, internet backlash about it. I guess NeoGAF isn't too bothered about such things considering that we have our own dedicated Furry thread over in community. |

This was my first "stage" I've listened to and I can definitely see the sincerity there is between the cast themselves and how much they enjoy doing their show and how much they care about their fandom as well.
Just subscribed on the Apple Podcast app... (now that it's actually decent). Keep it ups guys! |

Just finishing up the podcast now, the whole LGBT in gaming discussion was really neat and interesting. The Okama stuff sounds awful. Also, I'm a huge Metal Gear fan and I have no idea how I completely missed that Vamp is apparently gay. (-_-) I always kinda thought he and Fortune had a thing, but I guess she was just his mustache/fag-hag. (Same with Naomi in part 4.)
Anyway Shidoshi, (and any of the other WAHP guys that might maybe see this) keep up the awesome work! :) |

I'm not going to say that I didn't expect the Game Arts appreciation, but I was pleased to hear my own opinion echoed exactly.
As we all know, this is the point of opinion podcasts. Superb episode, all. Superb. It's odd to see a mid-sized Japanese developer downsize (presumably) and actually thrive. Changing size doesn't necessarily mean developers have to change their missions. |

Yay, new nichiest cast! Topics look interesting.
Edit: Just finished listening. Way better than the first cast, almost no dead air. I hope that with time, Bryan and Anne will become more proactive and won't need as much moderation by shidoshi, but I'm sure that this will happen naturally. Keep up the great work!

I was reticent to iTunes until now but now that I have an Apple device I jumped in and subscribed to the podcast.
First of all, fantastic stage 24 and it's pleasure to listen to you again gentlemen. I was expecting what happened to NickRox. I hope he is satisfied with the experience and now at least he has much more free time to play/appreciate video games and do podcast. Also NickRox's revelation about the furry genre was chock to me because I didn't expect it at all but I'm fine with it. Even I who thought I wasn't at all into the furry genre ended up finding a furry character whom I identify with. I would say the 2 main topics are what makes this podcast so unique. You will not hear this kind of discussion elsewhere and that's why I love WAHP so much. I also enjoyed the fight between Casey and Shidoshi, it was hilarious. Anyway, keep up the good work.

I really hate the tee hee I know secrets you don't know bit. If sony is really causing trouble, let people know so they can let their voices be heard that they do want those games. Tell us or don't mention it/ edit it out of the podcast.
...... Last guardian is the only high profile Sony game i can even think of, that people would care about. Someone else theorized: Grand Knights History and Tails in the Sky 2. Theres a lot of rpgs that will obviously never come out in the US due to the nature of the psp in the west. |

1. Despite the difficulties they're having with all of the platforms, Sony continues to refuse third-party games that would be exciting to niche audiences because of their ridiculous and arbitrary concept approval policies. 2. Sometimes when games aren't localized, it isn't because of market forces, but weird factors like lost code or developer incompetence. But we definitely won't be doing a lot of this sort of thing, I promise! |

This is Bryan, by the way. Like Anne said, she and I are a bit new to the podcasting arena, so try to be patient with us. We'll both certainly try to be more proactive in future podcasts, though. For instance, I'll stop saying "you go first, Anne!" every time a new topic comes up :P Edit: BTW, Anne, I loooooove your avatar! Did someone make that for you?? |

Listening to the new Nichiest Cast and I'm really enjoying it, and it's a great improvement from the previous episode.
I found the talk about Gaymercon rather interesting. My biggest problem with the name is that it soundes too obvious and I associate it with various websites that also use gaymer in their name. It disappoints me that there are so many people (Anna Anthropy being the most high-profile, and maybe the person shidoshi was talking about?) that are writing off the convention solely because of the name. I do agree with shidoshi that there's a sort of hierarchy in the LGBT community, if only in terms of visibility, but the videos on the Kickstarter page make it clear that the organizers aren't trying to be exclusionary, and it upsets me that certain bloggers are twisting the name to make it appear like they are. It strikes me as really petty, and considering the organizers' hearts are in the right place, I really wish people, like the aforementioned blogger, would learn to pick their battles. There won't be any representation from the transgendered community if nobody from the trasngendered community attends. Anyway, great cast guys. At the rate it's going, it might even surpass the flagship podcast. |

Pretty nice guy (apart from the blue shadows thing...)

As for "Stepping Wind" at the end—it was supposed to be a humorous weirdness-deflating bookend, but maybe it didn't come off that way.
I'd also just like to state my appreciation for the fact that 0% of our listeners seem weirded out that I'm furry. Our podcast is far from average and I like to think all three of us are totally transparent. We don't put on "radio personalities," so I felt it was time for me to be myself. So I'mma rip off SWERY real quick—I love you all!! |

Anna wrote off our PAX panel on transgender issues without seeing it or really knowing anything about it. I've come to quickly understand that her opinions on things matter little in the grand scheme of things.

![]() LOVED this latest ep. of WAHP. I always say WAHP is one of those few gaming podcasts I find that just has heart. Keep it coming! And new Nichiest cast will be listened to whilst I do some laundry! Looks to be a good one! |

That's unfortunate to hear, especially since I've always respected your perspective on the subject. It's probably still way too early to say, but I'm hoping the panel will be at next year's PAX East.

I started listening to Red Sun Gamer and really enjoy it, and 8-4 Play is certainly good as well, but I consider WAHP to be the sort of granddaddy of Japanese gaming podcasts. If you're looking for a show strictly focused on Japanese games, this is the way to go.

Yes. Nichiest only has two episodes so don't even worry. I'd say listen to their backlog of WAHP from the start. In the first ep. they explain who they are etc.

Prepare for greatness, their chemistry is one of the best in the biz (this is because they've been together for decades, and alot of us listeners are listeners because we were readers of theirs before).

That segment where you both describe how Amy Rose is cute and adorable sounded a lot to how cajunator describes his favourite new moé hnnghtastic loli in the anime threads. Though, to be fair, furries are not the prevalent in-fashion in video games nowadays.

There is a change that Nick's getting moved back to the US + my being at PAX next weekend could screw up our schedule, but that delay isn't certain. If it does happen, though, hopefully people will understand the situation at play there.
I've got something that I'd like feedback on from listeners: If we were to offer "collector's quality" versions of the stages that we do at some point, would you consider 160kbps AAC files to be of sufficient quality for such a thing? Currently we release the stages as 80kbps mono files, and that would be double the bitrate we're currently offering. Plus, given that we're a spoken-word podcast for the most part, any more than that might be overkill. Still, I'm wondering if people would expect higher bitrates from "collector's quality" versions, but maybe not. If anybody who cares about such things would give me some feedback, I'd really appreciate it! |

I wouldn't be too interested in higher quality versions; I've always attributed the sound issues to the software you're using to record rather than the bitrate, and the episodes take up a decent amount of space on my MP3 player as it is. If you decided to charge for the higher quality episodes though, I'd purchase a few as a way to send money your way. |

One of my ideas has been that maybe at some point we'd do like "Season" box sets of the episodes at higher quality for anybody who would want such a thing. It'd be a way we could raise a little money for the show for various needs, but without doing the "please give us money" thing.
I don't expect many people who actually be interested, but I still think it'd be nice to offer as it wouldn't be hard to do. |
