Haswell or no, it's on like donky kong! 30 day ban. If I win, I can opt to give you a choice of different punishment. If you win, it's 30 day ban for me. You win if Surface Pro comes out at less than $850 MSRP (no online coupons or specials or whatever sales deals) with any configuration. No need for worries. This is like taking candy from a baby. :D |

I should note I work for MS in a different division, as full disclosure, but those are just the reasons I am looking forward to buying one. I'm not shilling, I have an iPad, but I also actually really want a Surface and will likely have to pay full whack for one. |

Wow, so it's possible Chinese OEMs could beat other big names to the field with Windows 8 Ivy Bridge tablets?

if by that you mean, you can't comprehend what constitutes as unreasonable pricing for early adopters. then yes you're dropping bombs.

I don't think the mods here enforce/support ban bets either way, so it will be on your honor to uphold a self-imposed ban. I think it's really charitable to assume that just because MS said that the device would be "comparable to ultra books", that means it will be as cheap as the lowest-priced ultra book. |

handwriting in windows is pretty good. you open onenote, start to write down stuff with the pen and you can actually search for your contents later. so good. onenote in general is pretty great

Well any win8 pro is going to have an advantage since it can run full fledged art programs like photoshop and painter (if it's powerful enough to run it properly). Though the Note does have sketchbook as well.

Lenovo ships the TPT2 with only 2 GB RAM and yes, there's still a 32-bit version of Windows 8. You can thank Intel for that.

I think this is what the tablet market will play out for the rest of the year:
Aug: Galaxy Note 10.1 release (really late, why didn't they upgrade the screen resolution?) Aug end: Galaxy Note 2 announce Early Sep: I am guessing MS sneak in the Surface RT accessories/price announcement here Sep 12: iPad mini (and release?) Oct 26: Surface RT release, Also release: Asus RT tablet, Lenovo Atom tablet 2, Acer Atom 10" tablet w510, Dell Latitute 10 Atom tablet (probably also a crappy HP Slate 2? ) Who else in the RT club again? Samsung? So far Samsung is the only one who hasn't shown its hand. What's the chance of a i5 tablet announcement to shock the world? Probably not very high. Jan 2013: RT license restriction lifted (haha like who cares) Jan 2013: Surface Pro release. |

Seeing as that one is more likely to end up in the same price range of the Samsung Note 10.1 (500-600 dollars). |

Well that entirely depends on what apps come out on the windows store. It won't be able to run all the desktop art programs.

Like numble said, it's your option.
WinRT can't run X86 apps.

Just tell him what it is, sp he can sleep at night. Tell him you get to name his first kid or something (this wage is an actual bet between two movie critics)

Really the only down side is shorter battery life and maybe 100 more expensive. |
