I wouldn't laugh at this. Nintendo is once again building for the strong female userbase worldwide. Where is Sony's response? Can they afford to forget about this demographic or are they banking on Vita Sackboy being enough?

Did Style Savvy sell well on DS? In Japan it was almost million seller, IIRC.
I think this software can do very well among young girls since I don't see many cheaper alternatives elsewhere.

Was there ever any? Sony never indicated they are interested in marketing their products towards women.

It did at least 300K in the US, slightly more in Europe.

BTW, Style Savvy was a genuinely good game. I remember asking in 2009 how the gaming media would review it since most don't have the staff interest and it'd be awkward to see a bunch of manly-men trying to review a game that was clearly targeted at girls. The answer was most just pretended it never existed and never reviewed it and barely wrote anything about it. It really exposed the sad state of the industry for me. A game for females (and confident males!) that was both good and doesn't assume you're 6 years old and the media ignored it.

The first also made extensive use of DLC for a DS title, I wonder what their plans are for this one?

Hmm, those graphics actually aren't bad. Nice models with some simple and clean lighting.

Seriously. Style Savvy was a really good game. syn Sophia put a good effort in developing it, there were a lot of contents and young girls did appreciate it (I didn't buy it by myself though).

Style Savvy was amazing and it had a prototype version of Streetpass where the player could send out ads for their store. really hype for this one.

I bought the first one when it came out on DS and it wasn't bad. The industry needs more games like from big players. It definitely doesn't feel as cynical Ubisoft's offerings.

I felt uncomfortable just watching the trailer. Still, I'm sure it will be a great game for young girls (clearly the target market).

I enjoyed the first one, though it kinda grew old after too long. But my wife and kids, holy shit, they've been playing the hell out of the first game the last few months. Because they all wanted to play it so much, we ended up buying three copies. At least it was somewhat cheap used. I have no doubt they'll lose their shit over the new one.

I hope they release a pink 3DS XL around the same time. I want to get one for my wife and this game sounds like something she might be into (though Animal Crossing is her killer software).

Yes, and probably, especially since the new one adds dudes to the mix of people you have to pick fashions for.

It gets repetitive if you play it for too long but it's a good concept. People come to your store looking for things and based on personality traits and what they are currently wearing you make recommendations for them based on the items your store carries. You eventually build up more influence on what direction you want your store to go. It should be pointed out it's not a fashion design game since a lot of people mistake it for that, it's about building your own boutique store from styles you like among the games brands and items.

Yes, it's an actual good effort at a fashion game. My girlfriend really loved the first one and I'm going to buy her this. Maybe play it for a bit if it supports multiple saves.

Any reason why Nintendo wouldn't use the Girls Mode trailer from last week for this too? I'm not seeing anything in that trailer that would justify the changes made to it for this. I know this is nitpicking but, some of the changes are rather weird and bug me. Even the music is different. Also, the comments section makes me sad. :(

I've always heard good things about Style Savvy but was never really sure if people were being honest or if they were bsing people. If true I might have to take a chance on it. Is it just the clothing or are there other options. Making it seem more The Sims-ish in a way?

If you mean the Youtube comments, I wasn't surprised at all. Mouth-breathing Nintendo fanboys who were pissed that female gamers were actually being catered to for once. The fact that the trailer had more dislikes than likes says it all.

I'm guessing this game's performance compared to the DS game will be similar to Nintendogs + Cats compared to Nintendogs.

Well, the first one was a fashion game + a light store simulation where you had to run a clothes shop through a very simple storyline, by designing ads and stuffs. There also fashion contests, an hair salon and a cosmetic stores.

This new one adds guys and probably it allows you to run a magazine?

Oh, and Haley from Modern Family is promoting the game in the US:

Quote:
Sarah Hyland is a budding fashionista with a keen eye for clothing trends. Her role as Haley on TV's Emmy award-winning Modern Family is a great match for her fashion-forward style off-screen. She'll be seen in ads for Style Savvy: Trendsetters (Oct. 22), which lets players use thousands of items and accessories to create fabulous looks and manage their own customized clothing boutiques.
