They could've picked '94 or '01.
So everything that's shiny black with shiny outlines is now a shameless iPhone 4 knockoff, yes? Gotta tell Disney they should go and remake Tron Legacy, that shit won't stand, man! I for one am genuinely interested in this. Not for 200 bucks though. 100$ okay. 200$ no.

Don't worry about it, it's all been taken care of. Your money has been used wisely. |

Kinda want. :[
$200 isn't bad if it includes the dock (tv out?) and stick. And yeah, it depends on distribution of games. Previously I'd been led to believe this thing was totally open and could even support other emulators (NES, Genesis, etc) but who knows if that's still the case? VC not likely since it's subcontracted to D4. PSN however is up in their air since SNKP handles that themselves. |

The problem with Dingoo, Caanoo, and various other open platforms is simply that their performance is sub-par. By that I mean, even in games where the system is hitting 60 fps, you are losing fluidity for some reason or another. I could never get anything to look quite right and it was highly frustrating. If you want a high quality machine for emulation and home brew purposes I think the PSP Go is actually the best option available right now. |

If the stick is as good as a standard neo-geo stick and there is a way to get more games on it, I'll bite at $200. Hell, thats less thank most singe AES games I have bought. But I can't see the mainstream non-obsessed gamer being very interested in this at $200.
But for me.. yeah.. the Neo Geo and I go way back and sure I think the hardware looks sexy. I'm not the best to judge though, I'm a bit crazy about the Geo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdUopin4jvQ KOF 95 seems a very odd choice too. It is neither the first nor the best of the series. The other titles are a mixed bag. 3 count bout is not one of my favorites. Puzzled is a cheap tetris clone. I wonder If they will be able to put any of the 3rd part made stuff on the system. These are all SNK made games other than the ADK titles, but I think SNK bough them out in the end. Lots of questions. |

It's kind of insane if there's no plans to use an expansion slot to release cards pre-loaded with say, 10 Neo Geo games per card.
This would be a great thing, price aside, if you could eventually get the entire NeoGeo library with perfect (?) emulation on effectively a synthetic NeoGeo console to plug into the TV plus take with you. |

Damn, I thought that was an updated AES it came with at first. A dock with that look is still cool, and the joystick is kind of a gamechanger for me. The price isn't terrible, maybe a little high, but better than the $500-700 from earlier reports.
It will all depend on reviews and the ability to purchase additional titles from this point on, but I'm excited. |

Does it still tell your fortune?
When I was 18, I swore by the NGPC's Daily Horoscope feature. If I had a good "Romance" reading I'd strut my shit like you wouldn't believe. The NGPC broke me out of my shell! If it said "4 Stars" for "Money," I'd buy scratch tickets and play Keno. If it said "5 Stars" (and I had extra cash on-hand) I'd drive out to the Lincoln casino in Rhode Island. I'd play all night and make it back just as school began. I had a few lucky days, but lost thousands in the end. Also, the system's weak alarm once cost me a girlfriend. What a life-wrecker. |

That's a good question.
Since SNKP involvement I expect a NG SoC.

Really? Last time I checked the schedule was quite underwhelming... Maybe US and Europe get different stuff at a different rate?
Btw, the only one I'd call 'active' is the japanese VC... Great games come out regularly and that's the closest thing to a proper comprehensive NG collection I've ever seen, other than looking at the real deal. |

Being a collector of anything/everything, I'll likely bite. Price isn't extravagant, nor is the thing priced properly to sell, imo. But I'll get one and have a go. Mainly just to have one... |

The dock looks cool, and the stick looks faithful. From what I gather you can hook the dock via HDMI to your television and insert the stick as well? That would be an almost genuine AES experience.
But this game selection is poor and random. I'd call FF1, Mutation Nation, KOTM and 3 count bout to be redundant. I mean, FF Special is included and RBS is as well. No need for FF1. Best games on this thing are Slug 1 (although whored to death by now), RBS, SamSho 2 and Last Resort. It would be awesome if they included Neogeo Cup 98, Neo Turf Masters, Shock troopers, Windjammers, Last Blade 2 and KOF 98 instead. I do think that you can expand the library. Why wouldn't they offer the rest of the catalogue via digital downloads?

That's the thing, they always seem to put out the same old stuff in these collections.
Never the newer things like SS5 or Last Blade 2 or something. Plus they don't even talk about the future releases or anything? When I really think about, it's really disappointing. |

I own a better selection on PSN (Shock Troopers for example). And my own AES collection is better as well (KOF2k, SS1-4, Soccer Brawl, FF3 and a dozen more).
But since this seems to be an official SNK device I do want it. But not at this price though (how hypocrite this may sound). I do have a soft spot for 1st gen NEO titles. Its the ones I grew up with in local arcades. Even Cyber Lip looked and sounded amazing at the time. Back then, owning an 8-bit, I drooled over everything with the NG logo on it. And Turf Masters might've been the best Golf game I ever played. Although HSG is very good as well.

There are 37 games available in US.
Could have been better but it's not bad IMO (NG library consists of around 150 games between AES,MVS and CD exclusive). To note that Ironclad on VC was the MVS version that was unreleased upon that time. EDIT: US list: http://www.nintendolife.com/vc/games...=1344873974951 |

Even though I have no nostalgia for Cyber-Lip, it still seems amazing in a sorta cheesy way. Been playing it on Neo Geo CD, and while its not as fun as Contra or Metal Slug, its still a fun run and gun. The random voice clips and president(?) giving you missions just makes you feel like you're in a nineties arcade.
